Beautiful... Maybe now the opposite... Super mega hard clearcoat just wetsanded from 1500. I had heat issues with a chevrolet. Ever tried the carpro denim orange peel removing pads?
VW self healing clear would be good thanks but i guess it might come under "soft clear" From memory it was on VW Passat around 2012 , i polished a metallic black wagon a few years ago and remember it didn't like heat.
Great video as always Brian. Maybe a correction video for a knucklehead like me who started a little too aggressive with the wet sanding I use 600grit on my 2005 town car and then I've tried to do graded sanding 800, 1000 1500 2000 3000 to get back to a nice mirror like clear coat I can't seem to get there. I'm using the aggressive Turtle Wax Polishing Compound in green bottle. Thanks
Brian you have been around a long time I'm sure... why don't you throw one out there where you ran out of polish in the field and had to make something work...
I have the whole line of Maxshine pads , I team them up with Oberk both cut and fine polish work good. However the blue pad is mean as all get out and like to walk. I have to prime it so it softens up a bit.
@ww2717 really I haven’t heard that. I agree in my experience I have not noticed that and quite like it. but have been considering trying 3D one for a change. Thanks.
Ty for the video, I'm interested in how to compound soft fresh paint. The 3m compound system takes to long for my liking. I am de-nibing (wet sanding) with p2000 and trying to compound&polish it out fast and effectively with todays products. Going to revisit wool pads again. Any combo suggestions do you recommend? Thanks again, Charlie
You have me sold on the 3D one with the uro 50/50 pad absolute game changer for me works fantastic. For Protection can I use 3D speed on a second polisher to finish only cause it leaves protection or would a sealant like turtle wax seal and shine by hand be a better choice. I guess what I’m saying is am I just wasting the 3D speed and go to a sealant. Appreciate your dedication to all of us enthusiasts.
Thank you for encouragement to keep using my 3401 despite not a tool you prefer. I’m tempted to just get a long throw DA, but you’ve convinced me the rotary demon must be tamed.
I'd love to see a video on easier ways to handle the Mercedes CCHL paint. If the video was just you saying "Send them to another shop," I'd completely understand.
great video series...any polish that will work well with sticky paint?..i have 2012 CRV which was built in Japan..i have tried few polishes but they all just stick to the paint after doing few passes and they are very hard to remove.i have to go over with P21s paint cleaner.some of them sweat while polishing i see droplet coming onto the paint..so far carpro essence worked for me but dusted like crazy and it disappeared after just doing 2 passes so i am not sure if its doing any correction...tried 3d one last time around had hard time removing i..
Amazed Brian will problably have a better answer than me but you maybe put a little bit too much pressure on your polisher and/or the speed is too fast..did the same error as you the first time but now I’m ok
I would add that if you’re seeing moisture, are you working after the sun has gone down? As weather cools and dewpoints go down, condensation on cool metal can be a problem. Just my .02
Doing a paint correction on my Lexus today and putting UK 3.0 and Gliss as protection. Wish me luck 🤙🏽 gonna use everything I have learned from watching your videos to help guide me
@@apexdetail85 Brian after 11 hours of back breaking paint correction, I managed to only put 1 layer of UK 3.0 before calling it quits at 2 am. I'M BEAT 😭 so I have a question, tomorrow I'm going back to finish the other layer of UK and then willing Gliss. If dust is on my car when I go back, what do you recommend doing to get it off before applying the coatings? Thank you if you respond! 🤙🏽
I have a 2005 F350 SRW. The paint’s name is “True Blue” which is a dark color. I was wondering if you had an idea how hard the clear coat is? As you can imagine, the paint is far from perfect and some scratches, swirls & chips in the paint. In the past 2 years of ownership, I’ve was washed it with Meguiar’s Classis Gold, softly clayed it, used Meguiar’s cleaner wax & recently used Turtle Wax’s Seal & Shine. I’m planing on doing a 2 step process to restore the paint using Meguiar’s 105/205 to get the imperfections out. Any suggestions for me? Thanks! I enjoy & have learned a lot from your videos.
Hey Brian another great video on polishing! I don't know if I have missed a video about it or if it's a new product. IGL Renew F4 I believe is the product name. I was confused by AGO description of the product. And what's was peeking my interest is the graphene technology it uses. Have seen some coatings coming with this technology that's are certified installer only coating. And was happy to see this IGL Renew F4 and wondering if you have used it and if it's a product coming up on the channel. Then your thoughts about graphene would be interesting to hear. Keep the awesome videos coming!
Awesome video....do you think 3D One would be good for a single stage paint? Would it eat it up too fast? I've never tried to correct a single stage. On the Jaguar, what do you see that made you know it needed to be polished by hand vs machine? How can you tell that?
my mom's 2014 subaru forester must have soft paint..total swirl remover with an orange pad/flex 3401 micro mars the hell out of it..makes it look hazy...very tough to remove. any store brands you can recommend? the pad was a 6.5 ccs. thanks!
hello Brian i have a infinti qx60 i bought a rotary polisher and also a flex da polisher i practiced on some junk panels and ive gotten much better with the rotary but im having problems finishing down my soft paint i got most of the swirls out with the rotary and a blue polishing pad but when i use my flex with a finishing pad it actually puts minor scratches in my finish is there anything im doing wrong or anything you can recommend ?
Bri I own a Saab which had some paintwork done ,on its return it was hazy as you would expect . I used my Rupes with yellow polish & it removes the paint should I be worrying is that too aggressive. Please keep up your excellent videos I really look forward to watching them see what you do next . Dave. UK
Would chemical guys VSS be good for this paint/clear? I have an 06 Subaru Sti and was planning on using that since I already have it. I plan on doing a graphene coating after I do my correction and I want my paint to look as good as possible before the coating.
Hey Brian. I was doing an enhancement on a Black Cadillac SRX. I was using Sonax PF with a Yellow Rupes pad on my long throw Bauer and I was getting buffer trails. I was using speed 4 and arm speed was about 1inch / second. I had to end up using 2 small dots of polish and very very fast arm speed to not have buffer trails and get food correction for a 1 step. My initial thought was that soft paint doesn’t really like long throw DAs Any insight? Thanks!
Thanks for the great video! Do you have any experience with correction on Tesla model 3s? I believe they have a softer clear coat and I want to do the correction and ceramic coating myself but I'm not sure what compound/pad combo to use. It just has light swirls.
Man I had a feeling that was a Subaru hood lol 😝 I have a 2013 legacy with ice silver metallic, even though the clearcoat is quite soft it is quite easy to cut and perfect I notice it responds quite well with like a Orange or green Hexlogic pad with perfect finish!

Hi Brian great video as always..Ive been wondering how would you compare 3D one to sonax perfect finish? Please and thank you.
I have read on some forums that perfect finish is loaded with fillers. I have not found that true since I have been using it.
@ww2717 really I haven’t heard that. I agree in my experience I have not noticed that and quite like it. but have been considering trying 3D one for a change. Thanks.
I think Brian has videos on both products. I have neither but am trying to decide between the two also. I think both are good from what I've seen.
3D one has a better cut bite. A versatile polish dependent on the pad selection.
@Apex Detail. Sounds great, as sonax can lack there in some situations. Thanks for your time and knowledge Brian.

i use GG6 with speed between 4 and 5 not applying too much pressure and let the machine do the work..also i work in small 2x2 section..
Thin polishes such as Angelwax Perfect Polish or Escalation Lotion from Polish Angel are best for sticky clear.
A yearly touch up polish would be interesting. Just some quick steps to keep the pop without doing too much to the clear.

ww2717 he said he uses them to give his good polishers a break.😂😂
He dont like them because are to expansive not that are no good.
I had bad luck with Rupes. 2 of them broke down during the busiest season of the year. To each their own.
@@apexdetail85 Hey if the maxshine is doing it and putting cash into the business then roll ith the product that makes you money.
So black finish Is Always soft ?
Would you reccommend to use a One step ?
No , it depends on what the manufacturer decides to use to paint the clear coat on the vehicle

Yes, he mentioned that this will be ok with rotary and cut&finish will be ok with DA
utz My english is not perfect and I heard that excut will be best with a DA,
that’s why I ask. Thanks for your reply.
Cut and Finish was meant for the rotary...and 05 05 for the Da....but testing them both....they work on either polisher. As well as a forced rotation.

Why do we even have soft clear coat these days?? I prefer a hardened resin type of finish on my car as the finish lasts a lot longer.
