I love how they show him continuously polishing the entire step and none of that timelapse bs other channels pull on you where they could be days between scenes and take it to a body shop. That was just so damn peaceful listening to the gentle whirr of the machine. Like for that
Indeed. I wouldn’t be able to gauge if I’m doing too long or too short when I do it otherwise
I like it too. Gives you an idea of how long and hard you need to go on an area

Did he mention that it cuts like a compound and finishes like a polish??

Tried the clay bar on my mother in laws face.. Even the dual polisher didn't help. Still looks like a Rottweiler.

Thank you for not speeding up the video. Showing the realistic time shows the dedication it takes. But so worth it!
Agreed! Too many comments about sleeping. I'd rather see the actual time dedicated to this particular opinion on paint correction. Thanks!
Agreed...and I appreciate the lack of music throughout the talking and polishing portions. It gives some clue as to how hard the detailer is pushing the polisher into the clearcoat.
It's great, it shows that you have to put the time and effort. Some people out here really think you can polish your car in a couple minutes. In reality it takes time!
Legend has it, he is still polishing this car today!
Jeff Banfield 😂😂😂
I loled😂😂 I didn’t realize it takes that long
He was on it too long. 4-5 passes would have been enough.
Yep, just checked and the champ's still going..

A few weeks ago I purchased a two year old car that was covered in swirl marks. After watching a few of your videos I decided to take on this challenge. I purchased a PorterCable, 3 pads (Green, orange and the polishing pad) and a bottle of Vss. I started with the green pad in a small area, even though it removed some of the swirl marks I believed it could be better. Time to try the orange pad. To my amazement it removed all the swirl marks. The Leather cleaner and conditioner also works great. The car looks like new. Thank you.
Is it really that easy?
Did the result last?
Best no BS polish job I've seen on YT. This guy knows his stuff. Very impressive results!

Love the SS and V line polishes. Been using them in the shop for a few years now with great results. Also recently started using blacklight and makes the paint beyond brilliant. My after pics look like mirror selfies
Awesome, John! Post those pics up on IG and tag us so we can see! Thanks for being a part of the Chemical Guys family!
Great video! Thx! just a quick question, do i need to change or wash the polish pad during the whole car polishing process?
By the time you do the whole car, it'll be time to store it for winter!
1.1 wash car
1.2 use clay bar
1.3.1 use product
1.3.2 use lube
1.3.3 wipe off product that shouldn't be there because [take shots] because the product cuts like a compound, finishes like a polish
Scirocco City what about ceramic coatings?
I have a 2010 GTI dark charcoal grey with swirl marks. Looking into using this product it should work great. Did a fantastic job on the Nissan Z, Great videos Chemical Guys.
Awesome, thorough video. Thanks!
Great vid! Stumbled upon it as I was just browsing, but need this done on my melbourne red bmw 328i xdrive asap! Very in depth and just subscribed to your channel. Good work!
Hey Rob! Glad you enjoyed the video, happy detailing!!
It seems this new "diminished abrasive" technology is the only way to go. So fast and easy.
Finally a product that gives what it promises. No fancy packaging and hype just results!

wash > claybar > compound > polish > wax
How about "sealing" the paint before wax/polish??
ehmm my place doesnt sell any sealant, but i think wash my car monthy, so i guess its okay
+William Gardiner i dont think you should do anything else to the paint after you have put the sealant on it
Maybe if you garage it all the time, but I doubt it. At least wax every 6 mos depending on where you live.
Iam Sam to be truth , i wax it monthly, but from wer i live which is everyday around 35C-40C,the wax only last for 1-2 weeks(usually last 1 week),n i use turtle wax ice paste wax ( synthetic )
i've got some major swirl marks on my car, and being a dark colour it shows big time, do i use vss or v38? both say they do the same thing roughly on product description.
That's awesome man!! I enjoyed it. And u can hella tell the difference.
Worked great on that red. Same color as my G35! Summer project for sure.
Kevin Vines g35 lol nice Nissan
Great video man..
I'll give it a try in my detail shop soon.
Can I use v38 to do this same scratch and swirl removal job?
Great video. Glad my rabbit hole led to you guys! Some comments say it’s a long time in one spot but thinking about not having to do that two more times with different compounds it’s not too bad. Amazing side by side!
Thanks so much for watching!

hey bro hope you answer this great video like always btw. how much force would you say you were using were you just guiding the machine were you really leaning into it or whats best for the vss since its a one step product.

hi, thanks for the video, I have gs450h lexus black color, I have over spray, swirl marks and etc all over the car, I was wondering if I need to use any specific type of clay bar to remove the contaminants?
Just discovered your products. Love them and will be buying chemical guys from now on
Awesome! Welcome to the Chemical Guys family, James! Really glad to have you here. Let us know if you ever have any questions on which products to choose or how to use them. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for a new video dropping later today!
Great vid! I've been hesitant to try the all in 1 process vs. the traditional 3 step. You mentioned that with this that you achieve 95% paint correction. Which of your products would you recommend to use after this to get that last 5%?
Hi Bret, that's a great question. The complete V Line series can be used to achieve an amazing mirror-like shine. VSS has the approximate cutting power of a compound like V34, then finishes like V36. Depending on the severity of damage and the softness of your particular paint finish, try using VSS, then refine extra gloss and shine with V38. Just remember one truth as you polish: You will not remove 100% of defects. It’s just not possible. Embrace the limitations of paint technology and polishing methods: accept that you can get paintwork to look as good as it possibly can without simply starting over with a new paint job. Thanks for watching, Bret, and stay tuned for a new video launching later today!

How would you compare that machine to the Flex 3401??? I sleep with my 3401 so that said, I love it!
Love it! Thanks !!!
It looks like it performs well, I liked the part where the clay bar was used before the tape line was applied for the dramatic difference!!!
Thanks so much for watching!!
It’s been 4 years and he is still polishing
That's way cool, I just bought a black Jeep and now I know what to buy to keep it looking new.
So v36 considered soft polish not tough when using it with orange foam pad correct? I'd like to use it to my hummer H3 genuine paint but it polished one time before so is it safe and compatible, thanks in advance for your support.
1 quest. after he was done would it be advisable to put somec2v3/liquid crystal on 4 an added finish = protection?
Hi Scott, good question. After removing the scratches and swirls from your car using VSS, we strongly recommend then protecting the finish with a protective coating, sealant, and/or wax. While we can't speak for other company's products, we can assure you that the durability and shine that you will get out of Carbon Flex C9 or Jet Seal will impress you and keep your car looking its best for the longest. Thanks for watching, Scott, and thanks for being a part of the Chemical Guys family!

This is amazing, I just ordered some VSS along with an orange hex-logic pad to tackle those pesky swirl marks that have been annoying me along with White light & a black hex-logic pad. Can't wait to get cracking with these products 👍🏻😁
Hey Tyler, that's awesome! We can't wait to see your before and afters, so make sure to snap some pics and share on IG or FB! Thanks for watching and happy detailing! 👊
Should you tape the window moldings and stuff before doing anything?
Works it also with the CG Microfaser Pads? What is the Difference about the "normal"
PLS Explain
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to show us. A couple questions. How much pressure do I put on the rotary tool as I'm buffing? And do apply anything to the paint afterwards? Sealant? Wax? Ceramic coating? Thank you.
You want to apply 15 pounds of pressure on the tool. You can practice by putting tool on a scale and applying the correct down pressure.
I always sleep with a fan on and the sound while polishing was putting me to sleep! And im at work right now.
😂😂😂
Thanks for the info
Great demo, I'll be picking up your VSS product tomorrow. Thx!
Enjoy your detailing products!
Does this technique permanently remove the swirl marks or just hiding them? I am new to using a polisher (never used it yet) and want a nice job on my black car.
Hi! Scratches and swirls are caused by improper washing, drying or touching of the paint. Using VSS will refine the clear coat and remove imperfections, as long as proper care is taken when handling the vehicle it will remain scratch-free.
- CG Nick
Thats better a before and after video ye should do these vids more often, did ye use any sealant or wax after ye finished the car or was there a need to?
You should ways use a sealant after doing this. It keeps it looking good
I have deep and lots of scratches should i use this method or the multiple step method from your other videos for best results? Like is this method better to save time but not as effective as the older method?
What RPM settings do you use? You said start with 1 and 7 ( I think) but I was really hoping you would have said rpms instead. Not all of us use that exact tool, I have a different brand. Thanks.
Is it right to do : Wash, Clay, VSS, GlossworkzGlaze, JetSeal. ? thanks in advance
We missed this guy, the reviews were so much higher.
would you recommend using VSS more then 1 in a year? Or is that bad for the paint? also would you follow it up with a sealant?
Looks great! We are always looking for new products to try in our shop , this one looks like it would be a great one to try.
For all you armatures out there, myself included, this is not the end of the process. After the one-step is applied you must seal the applied wax. Once the wax is sealed, you must maintain the finish, by using a quick detailer at lest three times a month.

how much pressure are you using? it seems like quite a bit, I always do this by hand and want to start doing it with a machine because my new to me taurus SHO is so huge. Also do you guys do military discount for retired military?
So what if I need to restore the paint because of oxidation and I also have the swirls, should I use the clay bar, a different product to restore the shine and then VSS for swirls?
Jaboody Dubs needs to do a dub of chemical guys videos.
And holly wow you spent like forever polishing g that 1 little spot.
I enjoy your how to videos very much. Could using a cutting compound first eliminate using a clay bar for removing paint contamination?
Hey! We recommend claying before using a compound. Thanks for watching and happy detailing!

How long is that Torq gonna last?
Those digital controls scare the $hit out of me!!!
Torq units are built to last. I personally own a Torq10fx for 3 years and use it daily with amazing results and durability. If you are worried about the digital display the TORQX is not digital. But trust me you have nothing to worry about. they make great tools.
For $200 better last quite a while! I’ve spend less than half and expected more than double. My money doesn’t come as easy as some so when I spend it I better get BANG galore!
$159 at Amazon (not the digital one, just has a wheel with numbers); 173 reviews; 4/5 starz; this is the nine-item kit and currently has a $30 coupon. Got mine coming!
J X I’ve had mine for about 3 years. I had to rewire the electric cable inside the housing today from the electric cable clamp being tight and I guess from so much use, but now working like brand new. Im assuming it’s from when I am using it I will throw the cable over my shoulder to keep it from the paint and it puts a bind in the wire. But I will buy another one when the time comes. They’re worth the money.
dear friend thnx for the video can i use the same product for swirl marks on my windshield? or u recommend something else thnx in advance
Hi Guys. I have previously asked if you can directly apply Carbon Flex C9 on V36 and no reply yet, does VSS allow direct application of Carbon Flex C9 on top of it and do you recommend it? Thank you
*Does all the work to prevent contaminates during the polishing process.... Goes over tape with pad*
😂😂😂😂
I have a 2017 black wrx and it already has some scratches and swirl marks
Planning on doing this but how often is it recommended to do so ?
Once you correct the paint, shouldn't have to repeat often if you follow proper steps to wash dry and maintain.
3-6 months
Great video! What is the music during the comparison scene. Nice.
Wow that’s amazing. I work at a dealership and I have grown to more cleaner when it comes to my car I will definitely pick this product up
Thanks so much for watching!!
how do you know when you got enough pressure on the machine?
Get a scale and press down on it with the weight of machine and your pressure you want to have about 15lb keep doing it and build muscle memory

Does using this special compound bring the service cost down since it eliminates extra work?
What's the difference between this and the V4 All In One? Somebody out there who's tried either recommend it? I tried V36 on orange hex logic pad on Torq FX polisher but it did not do a good job at removing really light scratches.

How long does paint stay nice and clean until you begin to get swirl marks again? Any tips on avoiding them ?
Hi Brian! Swirls and scratches are only caused when something touches the paint, if the vehicle is never touched it won't get scratched. Avoid swirls by using linear motions when touching the vehicle. Prevent scratches by always lubricating the surface before touching it.

QUICK TIP: To test the true smoothness of your newly detailed vehicle, take the plastic sylafane from a cigarrete pack and put two fingers inside to work as a little finger glove, swipe the surface and you can feel all the roughness, if any, and see how well the job was done. A detail job with use of a clay bar should help remove most of the dirt you can feel using the sylafane.
