Great concept but I find it unrealistic that technology exists to bring virtual characters to life, yet we don’t see any furry or anime clones walking around.

Only works if there's no VR. VR would be superior to the real world due to how versatile, safe and cheap they can be. You'd need a lot of resources to make a furry clone and then if things go wrong such as the furry doesn't want to obey or become aggressive, then it can be a costly or even fatal mistake.
Mind you that in the movie itself it shows that most of humanity is in the VR world with only the clones in the real world doing the physical labors. It shows that even they prefer the VR than real world.

i detested how every time adam talks to real people and they pick up that he's emotional, they tell him to go take lithium. it reminds me of how people are always telling others to go see a therapist for every little thing, including feeling the normal levels of stress a person SHOULD be feeling in life. the dude is dyeing, his job is tanking, and his family is estranged from him, of course he's feeling high levels of stress and taking those drugs won't solve the root of any of his problems at all. this treatment is the same as telling a stage 1 cancer patient that they should get therapy before they kick the bucket., like wtf! and the crappiest part is that the therapists in the movie that adam talked to were not helpful in anyway. i'm fuming with rage here!

Seeing the clones together at the end makes me think that each partner has expectations that could be fulfilled by the other if we communicated those desires. Throughout the whole movie see the breakdown of communication between the original couple, coworkers, and the world. Thier virtual petsonas point what we want, but they never shared it with one another. These two were destined to be together. Through reality, virtual clones, and death.

@RandomName you can write a program to simulate a conversation partner perfectly, but it won't be able to make decisions on its own, it won't be able to experience any of the senses you do, it won't be able to feel emotion or be aware of its existence. Same goes for if you put that program into a persons body, it's just an algorithm collecting data yet it has no awareness and experiences nothing. It's just a complicated version of any machine, this one is just designed to mimic human behavior to an outside observer.

We can play well enough when we're calm, and sometimes we make the mistake of trying to play when we're upset or irritated and fail miserably, thus making us even worse off. I think that's what happened to Adam, that he could just barely play but did horribly when he was so upset. I could be wrong, though.

In other photos of D'Arcy, he kind of reminds me a little of Ian McKellen and Benedict Cumberbatch - but better looking than either of them.

This movie also does a great job of the human's desire for perfection and how much it can/will actually backfire.
They keep chasing after fantasies to the point where they neglect the real world and other humans for the sake of having their ideal life, and the moment those fantasies become reality it actually makes their lives worse.
It also shows the dangers of pursuing fantasy to the point of isolation and forsaking the good in reality. It's not good for physical, mental, or emotional health.
The irony of this all is that the humans in this movie continue to chase after fantasy despite how bad it is for them and the world around them...

Because he can be easy be replaced with a clone. Thus making a single heart is tedious. Think of having a 1945 old dodge/chevrolet truck.
