03:35 FYI, 40 below zero is exactly the same temperature in both Fahrenheit and Celsius scales, so you never need to specify which at exactly -40.

I have a video request. I love your videos and your process. Please review the different septic enzyme and bacteria packet treatments available on Amazon and find out the best. There are different brands and some have different application intervals like monthly or every three months. It would be a satisfying video to watch and see how they break down all the different test substances in a mock septic system simulation. You could test the effectiveness on raw and cooked foods, whole and blended foods, toilette paper, hair, hair conditioner, oils and grease, soaps, all the things that enter our septic tanks. You could even add some acids and urea to even more accurately simulate the contents. A lot of these are very hard on septic systems and it would be cool to see if the treatments actually make a difference. Thank you!

I would love to see a tribotex test. I have put it in both my cars and it reduced both inside the cabin by ~3db when idling. Now considering it for my lawn mowers, generator, and pressure washer.

I know your tests are "usually" done safely. But can u please just mention how the exhaust is vented outside whenever you start an engine in your shop. Only because so many people in my area die every year from thinking its ok to run a generator in their garage during a hurricane.

My 2005 toyota tacoma prerunner whent from 290 to 310 miles a tank with um blue bottle.
Sorry I know we shouldn't mention the blue bottle 🤣.
Then pensoil got me to 330 to 350 miles a tank.
I haven't used nanotechnology yet if I get richer ill give it a try next oil change.

@@thesilentone4024 The problem with this test that I see, is Millers is an SL oil and Pennzoil is a SN oil, and we are now at SP. Also, high Calcium causes low speed preignition in Turbo engines, so I would have to see Miller oil with an SP rating, results. The cold flow of Millers was a big FAIL, 90% of wear happens at start up, so I will be staying with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum as I have not seen an oil that beats it, for the price..

@@ProjectFarm Hey man I haven't seen this one posted so I thought I'd hijack a top comment :-) I'm due for a fixed service appointment soon with VW and all the reports on the Internet suggest that they put 0w-20 oil in my engine from the factory (VW 508.00) but all my local dealers go with 5w-30 and the VW 507 standard. My owners manual suggest about 1% reduction in fuel efficiency and bit more pollution from the engine. But are these claims correct? I couldn't find an oil test lab like yours nearby. I would love it if you could test this out. All the best and stay safe!
@@TillOverHill Go with what your owners manual says with that VW Motor....I have a TDI Diesel, and it's important to follow the suggested one for warranty.

Funny thing is I've read the entire manual and the only mention of SAE standards within are in regards with what to do in case of an emergency, such as if the oil level warning light is set on. I have since my original message contacted all 3 big dealers/services in my city and all 3 have given me differing standards for my car (502, 504, 507), and so does the Internet (508). It's just absurd the entire situation.

@@mmm365 It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I still remember learning it in junior high school...
At the time the scale was invented, the 0 was the coldest temperature they were able to keep water in liquid form (can do it much colder now) and 100 was supposed to be normal human body temperature. Either someone screwed up or the person measured had a fever, but the 100 was set a little too high. Hopefully that helps, but probably not.
This is the only channel where I press "like" on a video before it's even playing... I just know exactly what I'm going to get.

Very unlikely for it to be that expensive. Most household freezers use about 4$ a month in electricity depending on your area. Refrigeration is incredibly efficient, so it’s likely the upfront cost of a lab grade freezer that’s more expensive.
Shouldn't be that much as most freezers have their thermostat set to -18°C / -0.4°F by default.

Great video! We have some questions about Miller's "nanoDrive." They claim to have 'nanotechnology' but do not specify WHAT science is behind it. "Nanotechnology" of what? What nanoparticles do they use? Claiming that something is 'nano' does not mean it is actually 'nano'. Besides, as you said it yourself, 'nano' only means size. We know the difference because we are the exclusive manufacturer of automotive and other industrial lubricating products based on our proprietary nanoparticles of Inorganic Fullerene-like (nearly spherical) Tungsten disulfide (IF-WS2). These particles outperform MoS2 due to their unique spherical morphology and submicron size. Would you like to test our engine oil booster?
Could you test break in oils and additives for engine builders? Comp Cams, Lucas, Royal Purple, GM Eos, etc. Most brands have a break in oil and as well as just a zinc additive and I'm wondering how the different brands compare to each other and how regular oil + additive compares to the dedicated break in oil. Love your work!

You have consistently given me such customer confidence since I began to watch your videos.
I'm nowhere near a rich man so I like to make every penny count (thankfully I'm much better off than I was when I first found your channel) and that doesn't give me a lot of budget for testing products myself... On top of that, I'm a father of an almost-2 year old so I am and plan to be short on the levels of time and energy that you so graciously put in your videos.
I came here because I love data and tests, but I stay because I think your tests are creative and I find you honest and entertaining. You have made it so easy to pick stuff like oil and car batteries for me and I get very excited to see what every video may be about, whether it is applicable to something I was in the market for or not.
You could have just been some random guy on TH-cam torturing some poor old lawnmower by running it on bacon grease or Vaseline, but you not only put a lot of work in to satisfy your own curiosity, you've done your best to share it with anyone who cared to listen.

I've been running Pennzoil ultra platinum in my new car and my old jeep 4.0 (these examples are worlds apart) since you validated that it'll flow at -40. Both vehicles have never run better or quieter 1 year later. As always, great content.

Interesting, ai also have a 4.0 I-6 "Tractor Engine" Jeep. Are you using 10W-30 Pennzoil? Did you add anything else like STP?
@@mspysu79 5W-30 Ultra Plat Synthetic because I'm getting the super low midwest temps. Been adding Rislone ZDDP, even just half the bottle per oil change to keep the zinc up. 250k miles, purrs like a kitten. Original rings, cam etc. Swapped the head a few years back due to worn guides/old stem seals.

Pennzoil is my go to as well but really you can't go wrong with any modern full synthetic. Tiny differences in add pack and base oils, it's probably best to just buy whatever current API is on sale, but I find something I like and stick to it because it feels good.

@@ProjectFarm yup, after seeing how well Pennzoil did against Amsoil, I’m using Ultra Platinum for my next oil change.
The Pennzoil is API SN. The Millers is API SL (older out of date spec).
And the NEWEST API designation for Gasoline Engine Oils is --- "API SP"
BOTH of the oils that were tested in this video are obsolete.
I wonder how different the tests would be between the SN and SP rated Pennzoils
@@ihelp131 The physical/chemical differences between "SN" and "SP" oils would be observable by consulting the data sheets for both oils.
I recently bought some of the newer "SP" oil -- AMAZON BASICS - 5-W-30 API Service "SP" -- ILSAC GF-6 --
Running the "SP" oil in the famous 95 MERC, which now has 179,000 miles on the clock. 16 City, 24 Hiway.
Thread repair inserts would make a great video. Time sert, ez lok, helicoil and any others that are out there.

Love your videos. I would like to see the bearing wear tests done at low temperatures though, since most engine wear takes place when the engine and oil are cold. Maybe in the next one?
I’ve been asking for yeaaaars. Please do a high ZDDP content oil review series for those of us with classic cars with flat tappet cams as well as some racing engines. There’s a large selection to choose from 5-10 top brands with specific high zinc contents.

Change your oil regularly and it really makes no difference what modern full synthetic you use. Buy whatever is on sale or whatever brand makes you feel good and don't worry about tiny differences that only show up in laboratory tests or in extreme settings that you're not allowing to happen because you actually care enough to watch a video like this. You're going to buy a new vehicle whenever one comes out that has a new feature set you want or it's tax time and you need the write off for your business, or the neighbors just got a new one and you don't like that dude anyway. If you are conscientious about maintenance and take care of your equipment you will only ever have problems due to manufacturing mistakes and normal wear and tear; the API spec does a lot of the work for you, so whatever oil you buy as long as it meets that spec will perform similarly within a very small margin. I like Pennzoil, it's generally within a dollar of other full synthetic oils at Walmart, so I buy that. I don't think it's substantially better than other full synthetic oils like Mobil 1, Castrol, Shell, etc to the point of "will it prevent a hard part failure which otherwise would not have happened", though.
@@jgalt99 I agree especially on the last point: when things go really wrong in a car it's never the brand of oil that caused it, user error and abuse are the absolute #1 factors

When Walmart has the Pennzoil Ultra on sale, its only about $20/five quart jug. Basically a no brainier. Been running it for years and it’s great.
Other than wear resistance. I would still favor the pennzoil platinum euro 5w30, A3/B4 for the summer months. Or QSUD 5w30.
