  • "Bohemian Rhapsody" is without a doubt the hardest song we have ever learned!!! We promised our Patreon community that once we reached a certain goal we would release this video, but we had no idea the challenge that we would be undertaking. Hope you guys enjoy all the crazy parts of this song!
And as for the outro, I handed Julianne the banjo and that is what came out haha.

    ►LYRICS - Bohemian Rhapsody
    Is this the real life?
    Is this just fantasy?
    Caught in a landslide
    No escape from reality
    Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (ooh poor boy)
    I need no sympathy
(Because I'm easy come, easy go)
    (Little high, little low)
(Ooh) Any way the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me, to me
    Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
    Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
    Mama, ooh
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
    Carry on, carry on
    As if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
    Sends shivers down my spine
    Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave it all behind and face the truth
    Mama, ooh
    (Any way the wind blows)
    I don't wanna die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
I see a little silhouetto of a man
    Scaramouche, scaramouche
    Will you do the fandango?
    Thunderbolts and lightning
    Very, very frightening me
    Galileo (Galileo)
    Galileo (Galileo)
    Galileo Figaro
    Magnifico-o-o
Oh, I'm just a poor boy
    Nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah, no, we will not let you go (let him go)
Bismillah, we will not let you go (let him go)
Bismillah, we will not let you go (let him go)
Will not let you go (let me go)
Will not let you go (let me go)
Never ever, ever let me go-o-o-o?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
(Mama mia, mama mia) mama mia, let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
    Oh baby
Can't do this to me, baby
    Just gotta get out
Just gotta get right out of here
    Nothing really matters
    Anyone can see
    Nothing really matters
    Nothing really matters to me
    Any way the wind blows...

How to take an incredibly complex song from a completely different genre, put your own stamp on it, remain respectful to the original artists, and knock it out of the ballpark. I'm simply amazed at the musicianship and talent this family continues to reveal.

I agree with you that it is amazing that they were able to pull off this song in their style. My one problem it the tone they chose, It was too upbeat for me considering the song is about a man dying of aids. I think it should have had a more sorrowful feel to it. Other then that it was awesome.

@@hattersmadness4701 Check your facts. The song came out in 1975. At the time the world had never heard of aids. Freddy Mercury never explained his lyrics. They are about a man who killed someone and who believes he is possessed by the devil. The text contains lots of religious and philisophical references.

Ok I admit it. When I learned you were going to do Bohemian Rhapsody, and do it LIVE I was sceptical. I couldn’t see how it could work in a bluegrass setting, and it’s very difficult with time changes and all the harmonies etc. but I am astonished at how you managed to reproduce some parts, adapt others and fold in the bluegrass harmonies so well. Not only did you succeed at doing all that, but you did it spectacularly well The parts you reproduced from the original you did faithfully and flawlessly. The bits you adapted to acoustic instrumentation you did inventively. It was excitingly creative and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Petersens, you knocked it out of the park. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have seen a couple of versions of this song from The Petersens, but this one struck me on how enormously difficult it had to be to take this song and rewrite it for intruments that it were nothing like the original ones used in the song and then mix in the different voices to mimic the sound of the original, while still making it "The Petersens" sound and do it in one live take, with all of the changes in the tempo! Absolutely amazing!

On national radio in the Netherlands we have a show that's called the Top2000. The Top2000 consists of the best 2000 songs ever, based on what the audience voted for. It is aired between Christmas and twelve o'clock at night on New Years Eve, where the number 1 is aired in the last few minutes of the year. This started in 1999, as a special ending of the millenium thing. It has returned every year since.
Most years Bohemian Rhapsody has been voted the number 1, so many Dutch people consider this the best song ever. Most covers don't do it justice. Yours does.

Queen took months to complete multiple part voice overlay recording of the chorus. Their ability to reproduce this in a live chorus by using two microphones is totally amazing. The acoustic instruments and their live chorus made this piece sound so natural, humane and more resonating with our real life. But credit goes to the Petersens for what was a really entertaining and well-executed cover. This band is just so talented. Now that they've shown they have the chops to cover an old rock classic, the sky is officially the limit.

Let's start by saying that I'm an hardcore Queen fan, and in my humble opinion they stay up above any other band ever. Let's go on by saying that "Bohemian rhapsody" is the quintessential expression of their art and skills. And let's finish by saying that I know it by the note, by having played and sung it with my own band many times. I would never, ever imagined that such a different interpretation of that monster song would have engaged me. But, hey, you are the Petersens and you deserve trust when you say you can do it. And you did it. Being yourselves and in the same moment paying a loving tribute to this monument song. Kudos especially for the solos and a special shoutout to Mama "Deacon" the Bass Player, always on point! Love from Italy.

  • @Hwashburn

People, don't lose sight of the fact that the Petersens recorded this absolutely LIVE, in one continuous take, using their real, live natural voices. I've looked at all the TH-cam recordings I could find of Queen doing this song live. (I'm not a Queen fan--was never into "operatic" rock. Although I did think "We Will Rock You/We are the Champions" was a great song idea because it gets your band played at every soccer and football game forever afterwards). Anyway, I wanted to see how good Queen's live vocal harmonies were on all the intricate harmony parts in Bohemian Rhapsody. I looked at Queen live shows in Budapest (1975); Montreal (1981); Live Aid (1985); and Wembley (1986), among others. Well guess what. I'm reasonably sure that Queen did NOT perform the vocal harmonies live. ( Maybe because most, if not all, the harmonies in Queen's recorded songs were probably Freddie Mercury himself and no one else.) On every single video I could find, when Queen gets to the harmony stuff, i.e., after Freddie Mercury's solo vocal ( "Mama I just killed a man," etc. etc. etc.), which, admittedly, is a great vocal, the whole band disappears from the stage, and the video shows only the stage lights switching colors, going on and off, etc., various explosions with lots and lots and lots of smoke, and crowd shots, etc. I'm therefore reasonably sure that, at that point, Queen was actually playing a PRE-RECORDED version of the vocal harmonies! All of this , the smokescreen on stage as well as the vocal harmonies recording, ends when the song gets to the big, rocking, stomping guitar solo and Freddie starts singing again. My point here is that in this Petersens video, the Petersens manage to pull off, not just solid, credible, professional vocal harmonies, but stunningly fantastic vocal harmonies, and they do it, live, on the spot, in one continuous live take, no edits, using their natural, God-given voices, no-auto-tuning, no computer processing, no electronic layering or overdubbing, or any of that. This is something Queen , QUEEN!, DID NOT or COULD NOT EVEN ATTEMPT in its own live shows! I mean, we all agree that the Petersens are great, but, boy oh boy, we don't even realize the half of it!

    • @Roberto-pd8vn
      @Roberto-pd8vn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

What you said is absolutely true. Queen have never performed the choral parts of this song live. Also because it would have been impossible to reproduce in live concerts, with only four voices, what is heard in the track obtained in the recording studio, obtained by overlapping numerous vocal tracks. We must therefore give credit to The Petersens for having enormous courage in singing this song entirely live and for achieving a so good result. So I agree with you on almost everything, except one thing: Queen have been and remain one of the greatest bands in rock history.
