the Quran is not a linear book, it does not have a beginning , midde or end (the Quran does not do the Bible thing of 'once upon a time....'. Europeans do find this trying. it's not a history book, it's a book of reminders, lessons etc. your points about the PBUH words are interesting. Islam would say it's better to be robotic than not do it at all. but i get your points. people should feel things a bit more. keep exploring people

One thing we didn’t make quite clear about the story of the cow, is the fact that God instructed them through Moses to find any cow. But they mocked Moses and became argumentative with him, like what does a cow have to do with trying to solve this crime? So they dragged their feet by asking irrelevant questions like “what kind of cow? What age? What color? Etc”. So instead of following God’s initial command of finding any cow, the more questions they asked, the more God narrowed it down for them, making it more difficult and more costly for them. And it’s this argumentative nature and having doubts about God’s instructions or commands that the chapter is ultimately warning believers not to be like that, and to have complete faith in God and His instructions, even if it might not make any sense. That’s why we see the story of Abraham highlighted in this chapter as the example to follow, as someone who had complete faith in God’s commands and completely submitted himself to God without any pushback.

one important thing to note about the Abraham story though in the Qur'an is unlike in christian version where Abraham interprets his dream as God's command to sacrifice his son Isaac (this is the christian version)... in the Qur'an it's actually Isaac who interprets that it's God's command and convinces his father Abraham to go along with it.

We use “peace be upon him” whenever we mention a Prophet as respect for them because they are the best and most humble people amongst us Humans. They are the spokespersons of the Almighty Allah…
All the rituals was not for us to ask why they are like that why yellow, why they need to sacrifice then take a portion from it and strike it to the deceased body before God will bring to life again…
God can resurrect who He wills without any of these rituals but He is teaching something to the children of israel and we are settled on the FACT that God by default is the All-knowing, All-wise so if there are things we cannot fully comprehend we leave to the knowledge and wisdom of Almighty Allah.

Actually there is a lesson there, god only asked for a cow sacrifice. But because they keep insisting for more details and not accepting god's simple dekands first, god then specified harder descriptions to help the poor owner of the cow, making them pay a cow's weight in gold instead of any cow

Don't be alarmed. The structure of the Quran differs from typical human-authored works, which often follow a chronological order. Instead, it is arranged according to the divine plan, with its own distinct order. Engaging with it demands concentration and profound reflection.
It will give you, as much as you give it. Also, keep in mind, what you're reading is merely a translation, a portrayal, not the true miraculous essence of the Arabic Quran-there's a significant distinction.

It isn’t an obligation to say “peace be upon you” and no one will really say anything if you forget to say it, but we are taught and make it a habit to say this after the names of our prophets quite easily. We also get rewarded for it so I just feel happy to get easy “points.” When it is a habit like this, it sounds like part of their name so its not hard to say. Religious OCD sounds like a huge struggle. Maybe some people can relate but I always smile and remember to genuinely respect these prophets when I hear this

One point to add regarding being argumentative vs submitting (having complete faith)
The point is that definition of faith in Islam and in Arabic is different from Christian and English definition of faith
In Islam imam is defined in three parts:
    1. Creed (which is rational belief in the heart)
    2. Saying (testifying your creed)
    3. Action (essential actions that a proof to make you a valid subscriber to the creed, namely praying 5 times)
But the main key difference is in number 1: belief in the heart
When you read the Quran you’ll realize belief in Islam is the antithesis of blind faith. It is the result of a
    1. Purified heart
    2. observation of the heavens and the earth
    3. Reason
And thus realizing that the ultimate conclusion of logic is submitting to the All-Knowing
So when you see Abraham peace be upon him having what you might mistake as (blind faith) know that you are seeing the highest level of soul purification and intelligence
The highest level of reason is knowing the limits of reason. And submitting to the All-Knowing when you have proof it is indeed from the All-Wise even if it goes against every calculation and experience your limited mind understands then submitting to Allah in that moment realizes true intelligence

Yes. It can be repetitive bcoz God says “Humanity needs to be reminded constantly”. How many times have you woke up and thank God for blessing you another day of living? Another chance of repentance? Another chance of finding success? Another day of opportunities? Another day of appreciation? Nay. Humanity are forgetful creatures. Humanity are ungrateful. Humanity are sinners. So yes. We are a bunch of babies that need constant reminders. Even if it seem robotic to you, being robotic and getting it stuck till it became a behavioural trait is better than not doing it at all. World champions dnt get to be champs bcoz they magically love to train and practice. They forced themselves till it became a way of life. Till it became easier. And they get better from it. May God bless yall and ease your journey to seek knowledge. Peace❤

    You can just say peace.
We don't just do it because it's a costume; the prophet said that god considers saying it as a good deed.
For me, getting a good deed that might be the reason to enter heaven sounds perfect, especially when it's just some beautiful words to a friend that sometimes I do love and wish him peace from heart.

hello guys other reason for slaying the yellow perfect cow that its not even used form farming purposes is because children of Israel when god saved them from percussion in Egypt they still had idolatry within their hearts at that time also the symbol of the yellow calf was one of gods of Egypt.
When prophet moses left them to receive the tablets of tworaha
they worshiped the statue of the Calf and god punished them for doing this
to solve the problem of murder and expose there idolatry god wanted from them to slay a cow it was meant any cow will do but they start arguing the more they argue the more details are revealed and the more they start to realised what is aiming for when the full details are revealed they found the yellow cow they almost didn't want to kill it they barely did it

    Yep, you have a point.
But i rather, think of it like, subliminal subconscious thing.
I mean, when we died, we got no functional brain.
I think, thats why our souls have to remember all kind of terms, prayers, chanting, etc.
Like, our soul has to resonate with all of those we need for the afterlife journey.
Thats why we have to recite it, saying it over and over again.
For example, i had been dreaming bad, but in that dream i was able to chant like, astaghfirullah, allahuakbar, etc.
Nobody can control their own dream, right? As if, our brain is non functional there.
In the end, we are living in modern era.
When we know already so many unseen stuffs. Even subliminal, subconsciousness, as i mention earlier.
It should not be so difficult for us to accept it as modern people.
Or, even all kind of miracles for those books.
If the guidance from The All Knowing says, yellow cow.
The first question as open minded people: where we can find the yellow cow on this earth?
Asking whether its symbolical or not, its should not be the first question popped out in the mind of such open minded modern people.
Tho, i ve been noticing that knowing science and tech in the west, rather makes most people who learn it to be small minded.
Today we can communicate with people in other part of the world within seconds.
You would have been hunted as black magic practitioner with that tech 300-400 years ago.
Either way, the basic question you guys should have asked in the very first place: do you guys even believe in the existence of The One Absolute Creator who created and maintains the universes?
Do you believe this Creator give people guidance?

it will be more good if you ask questions from the quran by pointing out, even if you think that verse doesn't seems like god's own other than talking stupid arguments because quran completely say there is no compulsion in religion, so who is compelling you to say peace be upon him after prophet names. if you want you can say it otherwise it's your choice. as muslims we will say it as a honor to our beloved prophets, who had gone through soo much in this world in order to spread the word of god. as a muslims we love people asking questions but it should be rational like ask from quran not some outside source which have nothing do with.

Great question about the titles/nomenclature and saying "peace be upon them" - don't worry, it doesn't mean you address someone with that suffix each time you speak to them, rather it's like a title of honour/respect like saying "Your Highness" to a royal person or "Your Excellency" to a diplomat. The prophets have passed away, so you wouldn't address them directly yourself in your interactions. Therefore, you say "peace be upon them" and "may God be pleased with them and have mercy on them" because you're saying a little prayer for their soul now. Hope that kinda makes any sense ... 😫😔👌🙌👊

I would recommend reacting to Nouman Ali Khan (BayyinahTV) his lectures of the quran come from a place of synthesizing the dense and numerous icebergs of the Quran into something easily understood. There are many lectures he has on surahs of the Quran, but I would recommend "Hikmah in the Quran - Part 1/4 (Full Lecture) | Nouman Ali Khan".
God bless you on your journey's toward truth and may he cause your desires and ignorance to disappear in the face of said truth.

Also Omar Suleiman's "The Firsts" series with Yaqeen Institute is great to get to know the people who followed the Prophet(PBUH) in those early years.

Good discussion...vain repetition (pbuh), magical thinking, yellow cows - funny how animals (cows) are used in religious traditions. How bright? How old? Not too old, not too young...all vague). Needed for resurrection ritual sacrifice by slapping a body with raw beef? Call me skeptical, but I sort of lean towards Christopher Hitchens in weighing all these sorts of stories: they are absurdity in the telling, even more in the believing, imo (and I'm all for poetic license, symbolism and imagery). Having said all that, you fellas really do your best to be open-minded. At what point does the absurdity become a truth to be embraced rather than repeated? Live in the here and NOW, not for future considerations! Preach it guys :)

We just try to suspend judgements. Sometimes we fail, sometimes we get it right. It is fascinating to see how others view reality. Everybody has their reasons.

We say peace be upon them , because they not like us . They are prophets they don’t lie they don’t steal . They do nothing wrong. So they special . It’s a respect to them . They are our prophets . How can u say just prophet Mohamed with out saying peace be upon him. It’s very important to know the meaning of peace be upon him or them mean. There’s a lot of stuff that u didn’t mention about the cow. Which were very important . And it’s why this chapter is called the cow. Reread it and search about it more . So u can find more information.
It’s a path because it tells u how the human beings are so stubborn. God ordered them to just kill a cow if they had done that with out the many questions of there’s . They wouldn’t have to buy it so expensive. It could’ve been any normal cow any size , no special thing about it .
But that’s how human beings are .
May God guide us all to the straight path.

Allah mix the history the story and laws if they are separate so people read only history or stories not law because reading the law is kind of a boring thing like in bible the genesis and exodus are interesting but Leviticus are boring so that the reason in the quran allah Tells the story the messenge the footnotes and the beginning but i. The middle because this is not a storical book or historical book the things like (in the beginning) or (once upon a time) because this is the humans style not god

The language barrier again, translation takes away so much of the meninges ,
God said sacrifice a cow any cow , but as humans nature always tend to argue they kept asking the prophet " in doubtful tone" what cow !what color what shape ? " like when ur kid makes excuses so he doesn't do the work"
From my perspective i learned that when you wanna do something new or learn from someone else anything just give it a try and do the work instead of spending time arguing about it , and you can see the end result ..then you can reevaluate.
You cen read quran every year of your life as you grow and every time you will get wisdom goes exactly with your mental growth era .
I really feel bad when non Arabs don't get most of the quran wisdom because of the translation , i wish i can have the proper knowledge and tools to explain every single verse , so the whole world could use this wisdom in their daily life .

Israel of both bible and qur’an is not exactly the same as the modern israel who are mostly convert jews from Europe.
The biblicaL jews are semites and are closely related to arabs and other native middle eastern ethnic groups.
Modern jews of israel might have semites amongst them but mostly Caucasians white people from europe who converted to Judaism ✡️ and became ZIONISTS.

Its not the same. Isreal in the Quran or Bible is not the name of the place like now. Its the name of the person and its generation, hence called children of Israel.
