  • In this part 1 reaction we take at look at Jeffrey Lang's Islamic reversion story titled: "The Purpose of life". Muslim Jeffrey Lang is a prominent American academic and author known for his insightful perspectives on Islam and his personal journey to the faith. As a former atheist and mathematics professor, Lang's unique background provides a deep understanding of both Western and Islamic worldviews, making him a respected voice in interfaith dialogue. His books, including "Struggling to Surrender" and "Even Angels Ask," offer profound reflections on topics such as faith, spirituality, and the challenges faced by Muslims living in the West. Lang's eloquence and sincerity in discussing complex theological and societal issues make him a compelling figure for those seeking a deeper understanding of Islam in contemporary contexts.

I born as a syrian muslim girl , I remember that I loved to read Quran when I was a child altough my family is not religious. I begin to know and understand about the meaning of life from Quran and knowing about Allah (God) when I be adult, and I remember when I heard this lecture for Jeffrey Lang, I cried and I realized that we should read between the lines carefully in Quran to understand Allah's message for us.

I did.. I read quran bible and Veda.. Trust me.. If you get so detailed in bible and Veda it gives you feeling nonsensical and out logic even sometimes ridiculous.. Especially The Veda.. This books talk about God in a way that is so unholy and selfish... Quran is all make sense.

Quran talks about a god who's egomaniacal, selfish, who encourages pedophilic tendencies, coupled with a self-centered and power-tripping disposition. Is that God in your view? Vedas are much much deeper. This is coming from a follower of one the abrahamic faiths.

Regarding the last point, Dr. Jeffery didn't force himself to belive the scripture to be right. He read it thoughtfully and carefully and discovered that it's Right. So, when you read the other scriptures or philosophies, read it thoughtfully as you wish, and you will discover that it's Wrong. This is our standing as Muslims.
Dr. Jeffery even refered to the point that the Quran isn't hard to understand, which he means that you use simple and standard logic and you will discover that it is the Truth. While when you use simple standard logic with other scriptures or philosphies you find something wrong, and he give the example that eating from the wrong tree is by no means could be considered as the greatest sin, and another clear example we usually use is that God cannot be one and three at the same time or that God The Perfect would be merged in a human body or idol. No matter how thoughtfully and carefully you think, this cannot be right.

    • @FOOTSHOTS1
      @FOOTSHOTS1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

yeah , ofc they assume that we dont critic our scripture, Islam is all about asking questions , n being critical... but give them time... this stage of their journey sometimes take longer... , do not underestimate how strong the effect of secular education, they r been fed all their lives that all religions are false.. not based on proofs.. and to be hyper skeptical n not seek for the truth unless it is by scientist ... its a whole baggage ... so ofc they will add islam to the same category , specially when Islam is supposed to be the Protagonist of their bedtime story... the media and the lies have also something to do with this. but anyway, may Allah guide them, n guide whoever sincere

Thank you for your reaction 💚 I love watching reactions to this particular lecture because I keep learning and discovering new understanding from it. With an open heart, I'm gonna say respectfully, that atheism is a form of arrogance. Evolution happens, but it is allowed, and therefore it evolves. Even if evrrything in this universe starts from "somewhere", that "somewhere" exists because God wills it. Human cannot choose to comprehend "somewhere" if the choice is not presented. That's also the reason why faith, is a choice. A blind one, but it is a choice that has to be made out of reason. So thank you for continuing to learn and reason, whoever knows where we all might be at the end 💚

The fact that the first surah that was revealed to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was Surah Clot, and the first word that was revealed to earth from heaven was “Read.” amazing me.
    The surah :
Read: In the Name of your Lord, who created.Created man from a clinging clot. Read: And your Lord is the Most Generous. He Who taught by the pen.Taught man what he never knew. In fact, the human being oversteps all bounds. When he considers himself exempt. But to your Lord is the return.
Have you seen him who prevents?
A servant when he prays?Do you think he is upon guidance?
    Or advocates righteousness?
Did you see how he denied and turned away?
Does he not know that Allah sees?
No. If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock.
    A lying, sinful forelock.
Forelock is where the part of the brain Responsible for lying! Imagine reading all this and still not believing in Allah.

We have the independence to make choices but moral of the story is that we should make morally correct choices and the one who has decided what is correct is God who created you. So when you make these choices you know that there will be consequences, maybe not right away but someday, that’s what religion is about. And obviously having confidence that the religion you are in is right is important because only then will you be sure that you are not wasting your time and risking yourself

What a beautiful story of the beginning of human existence on earth! Even when Adam n Eve were expelled from Heaven, they were given a full assurance that God's guidance would accompany them as long as they would stick to them. Showsing how God is the most compassionate n the most merciful. So how could then some people have been talking about the original sin? Just don't get it.

    • @FOOTSHOTS1
      @FOOTSHOTS1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

yea in Islam, we dont believe in the original sin, we believe we are born sinless.
also we dont believe that Eve (pbuh) , seduced adam (pbuh), we believe that it was both their choice
and these two differences make a huge theological difference , its affects literally everything...
Also in Islam Allah just forgive if he wants to... as simple as that, in christianity cz of the original sin, jesus (pbuh) had to die for everyones sin..
Also ofc the major two differences is that Jesus (pbuh) in Islam is a major prophet sent by GOD, but in christianity he is GOD (thats a church thing, not the bible)
n ofc Islam is a radical monoteistic religion, ONE GOD, perfect, no son, no father, not born.. eternal, no beginning.., very very strict monoteism, in christianity they have the concept of trinity ... (which also a church thing, didnt find it in the bible)
these are the brief differences between islam n christianity

Whether there is an evolutionary process or not.. the fact that humans have such INHERENT capability is the fundamental question... Also, why are human beings the ONLY species to possess this intellectual ability.. Apes and other species have existed for millions of years longer and have yet to discover fire... while humans went from the cave to space travel within a matter of thousands of years
if humans were part of an evolutionary tree then we should have witnessed by now some even a MINUTE steps of progress made by other species... Give monkeys a billion years and Ink and they won't be able to use it let alone write Shakespeare

    53:10:
Not every book is worth examining in such detail.
But what we are talking about here is existential.
The search for the absolute truth, what your inner peace depends on, and more importantly, whether you will go to eternal hell or heaven in the afterlife.
Therefore, it is particularly important to occupy yourself with the Word of Allah...

You brothers have been guided to this. I pray that you ponder that, and that you recognize and acknowledge it for your own sakes.

Who wants TRUTH shall get it, but be sencere. You have to put you're ego away and desire. Put you're head on the ground and ask The CREATOR of the Universe from the bottom of you're heart and from the deepest of you're soul for guidance.

As somebody who has been raised in muslim family. I dont remember of having that kind of question.
The earliest thing i could remember was: when the non muslims asked that question, and they got various answers.
Then i got the answer from islam. My mind just agreed with it. Cuz, it just makes sense after comparing it to the answers from non muslims.
I mean, i dont agree just because i got the islamic answer. But i have compared it with the non islamic answers.
So, in away, listening to outsider answer is actually exercising our own belief.
If you are lucky (and sincere), it would rather gain your belief. Otherwise, thats how some people got into deconstruction process.
Oh, i think bravery is rather implementing change. Not just accepting.
Like, i dont mind with the usage of a.i nowadays. But, will i use it for the greater good of my own?
Also, i think every lawyer should have done that. Reading the lines, even between the lines.
Otherwise, a smarter guy with bad intention would take the advantage of agreement you have signed :O
