I have only recently joined Islam. From my brief time reading the Qu'ran.... I have discovered a whole lot about not hurting innocent people, only waging war against people who attack you, and to be merciful and kind to those who do wage war against you if they stop or surrender. In fact, it even says Hell is where we are going if we are aggressors / kill innocent people. If people just took a few moments to read a little.. they would definitely not view Islam so negatively. :)

His purpose is clear its just the People after his death wrote down in the bible after his death they put him as GOD they put the concept of TRINITY after his death?

I appreciate these young women and men. They are not judging a religion, they are listening with an open mind, mashallah. Islam has made me a better man, although I am not a great man yet. I understand that what helps one will not help all, so I simply want to thank anyone and everyone willing to take just a few minutes to hear some of what this man is saying. The problem with the crowd is that they haven't studied the Quran, so his eloquent speech sounds amazing, but of course, the two main differences between the New Testament and Quran is one says to "love your enemies" and the other says to "kill all unbelievers" many times. Guess which one is which?

well, working here for a long time in Saudi Arabia, my personal knowledge as a whole is that Muslim is caring, ready to lend a hand if they saw somebody needed help and giving foods and drinks to workers who works along the streets. Islam is a religion of PEACE. the Kingdom is keep on establishing new or revising laws that are fit to the present times to the foreign working force and saw more developments coming.

Mehdi Hassan is a brilliant orator with a very captivating and impressive style of speech. His arguments were of a profound depth of logic and cannot be refuted.
Its my humble opinion that for decades the war on terror, more so, the war on Muslims is in fact the war on Islam!

I didn't find him impressive. He was very articulate and a likeable person but he said things that were opposite of your presentation.
The example I give is the idea that anti-semitism was imported from Europe. A couple of issues with his train of thought... 1)Within Islamic literature can be found prejudices against the Jews and even Christians. 2)Even if it was imported there has been 100s of years for the religion of Islam to correct it. Instead they have owned their prejudices and made it their own. You can't blame a culture 500 years ago for your beliefs now. 3)He addressed the holocaust as if it represented Christianity when it was the Christian world that fought a world war to stop the guy doing it and where was the Arab world at that time? They were supporting Hitler.
Now I must ask a couple questions and I hope you answer them because I'm truly interested.
You said "true Islam as according to the Quran..." Are you a Quran only Muslim? What do you think about the Hadiths?
How is Sharia Law NOT at odds with the West?
How is treating non Muslims different then other religions not at odds with the west?
Finally and on a different subject altogether, When you become a Muslim what obligations do you have?

That isn't a good thing for Islam because it will lead people to want to begin some real textual criticism. Something Islam hasn't allowed. It will lead people to look at the religion more deeply instead of just relying on liberal outlets that want to protect it.
There are always people that want to demonize others beliefs. Shucks, we both know that there are plenty in Islam that demonize Christianity.
Christians aren't fearful of Islam. I can assure you of that. They fear the bombs and the hatchet wielding Islamic murderers but they aren't really afraid of the religion for they know the end of it and they know that tribulation must come before the return of Christ.

P1: If the Bible is word of God then the Quran is not the word of God.
P2: If the Bible is not the word of God then the Quran is not the word of God.
Conclusion: therefore the Quran is not the word of God.
P1 defended: The Bible contradicts the Quran in many respects, namely the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Christ. If the Bible is the word of God then because of this the Quran cannot be.
P2 defended: The Quran says the Bible is from God so if the Bible isn't the word of God and preserved as God preserves his words then the Quran is wrong and if the Quran is wrong then the Quran can't be the word of God.

Are you aware that the Quran calls Jews and Christians BOOK BROTHERS, PEOPLE OF THE BOOK?

I am not a believer in the man- made Sharia Law. The Quran states laws and regulations and a moral code. The Quran gave women, 1500 years ago the right to inheritance, the right to be educated and to be cared for. The Welfare State system we have in Britain was actually copied and borrowed from the Caliphate of Hazrat Umar!
The Quran gives rights to every human being, not based on the colour of skin or whether they are Arab or not BUT for any person, animal or nature. We have a duty, the Quran states to protect and value all the above.
I see myself as an advocate of the Quran only, as it is the ONLY BOOK SENT BY ALLAH and has been preserved and will be preserved for all time.
There are some nice man-made hadith but there are also tens of thousands of disgusting filthy, degrading hadith that disrespect the Mother of Believers, women in general and the Prophet also.
As for obligations in Islam.
"He/She, who is worthy in the sight of Allah, is he who benefits society."
Live an upright life, obey the Laws of the land, respect your parents, respect others as you would expect to be treated. Strive to educate yourself.
Above all remember that Islam is NOT a religion, it is a Deen. Try and learn the difference.
Religion stagnates the mind of its followers but Deen, raises their status. Never in the Quran will you find Allah using the word " Mazhab."

@@user-k229 I don't think so Khal. I admit, I'm no expert on the history of Islam and WWII and I have plenty to learn but I don't think I'm "totally" wrong. From what I've read the Nazi's attacked areas of Muslim control on the outskirt of the Muslim "empire", like the Balkans and Caucus, and Northern Africa. The Muslims in these areas were no friend of Hitler. The Jews that fled Hitler to Muslim areas fled to these areas. They didn't flee into Saudi Arabia. At least not in any significant numbers. It also makes practical sense for them to flee in the direction of the middle east because all of Europe was at war and so was the Soviet Union. The middle east was the closest area without the war.
The relationship between the Jews and Muslims in some of these outlying areas were known to be quite friendly but that isn't the case the deeper into the muslim empire that you go. Hitler tried to woo the Muslim world to side with him. He built back the mosques that the Russians destroyed. He taught his troops how to talk with respect to a Muslim, AND he appealed to their anti-semitism. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was a big supporter of Hitler for this very reason.
I agree that within Christendom, their was a time of great anti-semitism and it was wrong but I love Christianity because Christianity corrects itself. Christianity didn't come into a void. It took over a world with very strong beliefs, very strong governmental structures and class segregation. From the Roman Empire and their power hungry ways to the the Kings of Europe, with all their lords and vassals. These systems don't fall easy, even under the pressure of religion, but it was the pressure of religion, Christianity that evolved these cultures away from such ways, including their anti-semitism.
On the other side, how about Islam? Instead of evolving the culture away from such sinful practices the Muslim world has gotten worse. Once the mighty technological center of the world, now it is a world full of poverty, dictators, extreme violence, and rampant anti-semitism.
You say the Quran gives rights to everybody. Maybe that is true, I don't know. What I do know is that it treats non-Muslims and Muslims different in the market place.

1)What do you feel about the doctrine of abrogation? Is not the term found in the Quran?

3)Every religious person on this planet believes that they follow the truth. When I have examined the Quran, I find no reason to believe its true. All I see is a man who came out of a cave and claimed to have been visited by an angel who over time revealed to him the Quran. He then took 22 years to reveal it. The first half containing peaceful verses and the second half more antagonistic verses that happen to correspond to his various raids and wars. We are then asked to believe that these verses about his various wars were written in heaven from all eternity as if they contain great importance. Why would I believe this is true. Why not believe that Joseph Smith and the Mormons are true as well, because they claim the same thing. Not only that but Mohammad gave us a very simple book designed for oral transmission. It offers nothing new in it and is relatively shallow in theology.
The OT is a story about God's relationship to his chosen people and his plan to redeem all of the nations and the NT reveals the way in which God does this and provides once again a relationship to the Almighty. The Quran does no such thing. Instead, it returns us to the simple "dos and don'ts", and an authoritarian structure which contributes nothing to our salvation but "do good and maybe God will take you to paradise."
So why do you believe this guy who carved out for himself more wives against God's limit, is actually a prophet of God?

@@pertuk Great response - I don't know what your position is here, but I have studied the Quran. The New Testament is very clear - "love your neighbor" and "pray for your enemies." The Quran says in over 10 verses, "Kill all unbelievers." It's not the .01% of Muslims doing this; it's more like 10% - they're just following what the Quran says. Christians were wrong do have crusades and try to force people into Christianity because they did not follow what Jesus said.

right. Surah at Tawba (repentance). Its basically a surah that talks about God's power and is designed to remind people that while they should have majority hope that there should also be some fear of God as well. It fits in roughly with the hadith about the day of judgment that mentions that God has given 1 part of his mercy to the life of this world such as a mare's mercy for her fole...but that God preserved the other 99 parts of that mercy for forgiveness on the day of judgment to those who asked for it and acknowledged God without rejecting His existence.

It didn't begin with 'Bismillah', in fact the phrase 'Bismillah' is in the middle of the surah/chapter.
Get me just one passage from other sacred scriptures other than the Qur'an commencing "In The Name of God" or be found in the middle of the scripture.
