    hi E-Mechanic I think I have the same problem I changed the resistor / hedgehog a couple of months ago and it was fine for a while but now i have a severe drain on the battery again where its completely flat over night.
    your video is very helpful
    but can I ask 2 questions please
    1, should that little fan stop running as soon as the ignition is switched off ?
    2, why you put the vehicle in drive to take the panel out ? is there a specific reason you did that or can you leave it in park ?
    any help would be much appreciated

    Hey loving the videos as ever, got a bit of an ask if possible. Please can I draw on your well of knowledge. I have a 4.4 petrol 2003 L322 HSE and for some reason the interior lights have stopped working when the doors are opened and I'm now left opening the doors with the key as the fobs stopped working too and the central locking button under the hazard warning switch. The lights work if you press them inside except the front centre dome light. I've swapped it with the back an the same problem persists. I've read about BCM's going into transport mode but I've no clue how to get it out of it or even if it's in it to start with. I spoke to Jaguar Land Rover Manchester an they now don't even have the software to work on my car even if I was willing to pay the £180+vat an hour for Labour/Diagnostic's. Basically if this has happened to you before or you have seen it before please help. It would just finish off the car (before the next thing crops up) Many thanks in advance for your help and time. Please keep doing the videos as they are absolutely belting 👍👍

      Thank you,This has never happened to me. I would advise you to check the fuses and relays. For the lightings, insert a multimeter in the plugs and check whether there is a connection in the wires. Lastly check if there is any water in the electronics compartment (ECU, Battery or fuses). Hope it helps.

      @@E-Mechanic That's great thank you. I was going to take a look tomorrow but realised it's going to lash down till Monday I think 🥴 but soon as I've got a clear day I'll give it a go with a multi meter. No signs of water so fingers crossed it's an easy fix just seems weird. Thanks again will let you know the results when I get it fixed 👍

    Very interesting I will store that knowledge for the future as I have just bought an 06 4.2 supercharged and I'm sure that I will experience the battery drain problem at some point even though it's not happening at the moment.

      Just watched this again, I thought he was going to repair the control unit but just replacing it don't tell you actually what is the cause of the fan to work all the time. Min has started the battery drain syndrome and I want to cure it not replace it as I was brought up to repair things . I'm not a fitter....... I'm an ex mechanic lol

    • @E-Mechanic
      @E-Mechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ??? If you replace the faulty unit, you technically fix your battery drain problem.

      The best and safest option is to replace the unit.

  • @willieurus

    So I disconnected the control panel and I think that is the battery drainer but is it the resistor to blower motor or something in control panel??

    • @E-Mechanic
      @E-Mechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a small fan in panel that runs 24/7 instead of 15-17minutes after ignition off

    • @willieurus
      @willieurus 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@E-Mechanic so the resistor is the problem right not the panel ?

    • @E-Mechanic
      @E-Mechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      İf you disconected the panel and battery drain stopped, then you have faulty control panel.

    • @samrodian919
      @samrodian919 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a second battery drain problem and it is indeed the resistor pack for the main blower motor. It's a BMW part and is a problem on their cars too.

    The fan is running when I open the car using the remote fob, and before I put the key in the ignition,should this be happening. How long should I wait to see if it switches itself off , is 15 mins a good guide.
    Thanks for your time and advice, it’s a really bad niggle with my car 😡

    • @E-Mechanic
      @E-Mechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So basically, lock the door and wait 15-20 minutes. After that 15-20 minute unlock your car and get in, you should not hear the fan noise. Hope this helps.

    Hello I have a l322 2005 new battery from the dealer and I changed the resistor way before I install the new battery and still have the problem of drain battery!! Any advice where to look for ? Like can I remove the fuse or relay for the blower unit and see if stops the battery from draining? My central blower keeps running for 15-20 after I turn the car off or when I open the door sounds like is something normal hope someone here give me an advice for this issue BIG THANKS for your videos

      Hi, if you have replaced the resistor, then you can try to remove the HVAC panel as soon as you have parked your vehicle and re install when you will be using the car. e.g. overnight. The HVAC should go to sleep 15-17 minute after you have parked and locked your vehicle.
      Hope It Helps.

    I have noticed that if I sit in the car and I switch engine off< after 15 minutes the small fan in the hyvac panel stops running, but when I open the drivers door the next mrning, the fan is running, SO ! the fan either restarts after I have locked the car ! OR ! it starts running immediately when I unlock and opens the door, What do you think?????

      This is the vehicle going to sleep. L322 'go to sleep' after 16minutes after locking vehicle. The gear level position indicator LED should also extinguish at the same time as well as any interior lights left on

    Hi
    I own a Range Rover 2004 L322 TD6, I haven't used the car for a while and the air con is refusing to blow cold, I had the air con re-gassed a year ago and it worked perfect, I have checked and can see that the clutch on the air con unit is not spinning so obviously it isn't pumping, also the vehicle has always had a big voltage drop problem on the bateery, even after I put a new battery on it after a long run the next day it would read only A Quarter of battery life but it would start the car OK, NOW that I have not Been using it much it is obviously flattening battery after a few days, Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated, Regards Andrew
