I've never seen the value of the Pros tbh. The regular model always seen pretty good to begin with
There more expensive to repair too. It's more of a rumor, but people were testing the new display on the pror, and supposedly in ios18 it limits the refresh rate to 80hz for battery life. Again not sure if it's true but that would mean that the gap is even closer as the display won't be used at its highest refresh rate outside of certain apps possibly

@@eando97 that's good. When I read that I really couldn't believe it lol I under stand turning the refresh rate down but not out right limiting it. Though they could do it pretty easy since theres not a debug mode like Android to show the active refresh rate on the screen

As soon as the iPhone came out I made 6 predictions.
1) Obesity rate would go up

3) Teen depression would go up
4) Accidents from texting would go up

As someone who games on a 144hz monitor, I love having 120hz on the pros, the standard is jarring, if you’re used to 60 and see 120, it’s not necessarily immediately noticeable, but if you’ve been on 120+ and you drop back down, it feels slow
Well… I use an iPhone 12 and its now quite dated, its only 60hz but the only thing that irks me is the screen brightness and it constantly throttling to lower brightness when its hot/bright. The thing is, my main computer is actually and 12.9 inch ipad pro with the 120hz screen. The funny thing is I sometimes use the same apps and I barely notice the difference in refresh because it doesn’t bother me and in my line of work I can spot very subtle differences in light and color, at home or as a guest anywhere I can’t stand watching any tv that has even the slightest soap opera effect turned on, yet somehow the 120hz and 60hz is something that is barely noticeable and is only a topic actively visited by tech reviewers who ran out of things to bitch about (not referring to you I mean the specreviewers), while there’s plenty to fix in iPhones software and hardware design wise.
I daily drive a 13 Pro Max and M4 iPad Pro alongside a 6th Gen iPad Mini and an M1 Macbook Air. I could care less if the screens are 60hz or not. All of them look smooth enough. Battery life is a much more important factor for me
I don’t know a single person that takes full advantage of the camera on any of their phones. I know content creators probably do, it normal people just posts crap to IG and Facebook. The only reason why I even upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro max, was for the usb c, so I could charge my android and iPhone with the same cable. These upgrades are completely uninteresting if you have any model in the current generation.
I know is crazy but as a professional videographer I’m selling one of my expensive lens to justify my purchase of iphonrv16 pro for easy social media content. I think every single normal person should get normal 16
USB-C and charging are the last thing on my mind, I never run out of battery. Honestly I’d be content with the old lightning connection, it’s what I’ve got now. 😂

True, but I definitely use the 5x lens the non pro does not have. For me the biggest factor was the 120hz
the charging difference of the plugs can be solved with a 3$ dongle, not with an expensive new iphone. Camera is another story, but can be helped with external lenses
I know 120 hertz would be nice but honestly I think people exaggerate way too much when complaining about it. Yeah the pros will feel smoother, and you'll definitely notice if using them side by side, but our eyes adjust and you soon stop noticing it very much. Also, even though I have an iPhone with Promotion, I bought a Macbook Air (which doesn't) instead of a macbook pro because i like the design of the air better and I have NEVER thought that it looked choppy.
It’s similar to the camera megapixels marketing buzz and people fall in it, I use the Samsung S20ultra before which have options of 60 and 120Hz, most of the time I use 60hz
One of the factors that people don't talk about is the following. Everybody points out the hardware refresh rate difference which is a factor in certain situations. But the reason so many people say that the 60Hz it's not an issue is because Apple heavily optimizes the transitions. Actually the software optimization is a much bigger factor than the refresh rate in the majority of phone usage.
It's a ridiculous complaint. 80% of the content people look at on their phones isn't even being output at higher than 60FPS so having a screen that can go up to 120 is pointless 💀

Happy owner of iPhone 16 Plus (Ultramarine) here. Honestly, 60 Hz refresh rate is unnoticeable.

I used the 16 pro for a week and then switched back to my 15 plus, got used to 60 hz in a day. No Pro phone for me any time soon for the display alone

I upgraded from an 11 Pro to a 16 pro… the Pro screen size this generation is only 0.14 inches from the 11 Pro Max (which was WAY too big for me to hold) Huge upgrade…
I like having 120 hz, cause i can clearly read text while scrolling, with 60 hz its almost impossible, besides 120hz is not always 120hz, its adaptive, so its not that much impacting battery life
Ultimately, the choice comes down to the type of user you are. You may be a casual user instead of a "pro" user. You may not care about 120Hz refresh (which does impact battery life). You may not care about telephoto camera. You may not care about playing demanding video games. You may care about the $200 price difference.
I now upgrade my phone every 3 years…so $200 saved over the course of 36 months of use is very minimal for the quality of life improvement on the device.

I'm a very casual user, so I will keep my iPhone 15 for at least 5 years, perhaps even 8-10 years (with one battery replacement).
The base models getting close to the pro models is by design. Slowly the pros and the base iPhones will become one well rounded device. This makes room for a new more expensive device line such as the upcoming iPhone 17 Air (slim?). At least that’s my take
Finally someone who defends the regular iPhones! I update every 3-4 years, still proud iPhone 13 mini user! When I finally get a new iPhone, it´s always the regular!
Of course I LOVE great cameras in a phone but I am no „Pro“ and do not need RAW pictures. And now that the macro-mode is on the regular, I definitely do not need an iPhone Pro only to show people that I can afford the 3-camera design!
Besides, in my country, if you want 256GB storage, you pay €1329,- for the Pro which equals $1453,- as of today! Nope, not with me Apple!
I dońt mind the 60hz nor thicker bezels and would gladly spend the money I saved on a Pro on more storage or cases etc.

Why do reviewers make such a big deal about the 60hz vs. 120hz screens? Should Apple make the base iPhone 16s 120hz for the cost? Yes, $200 phones have it. But in practice, I've never been able to see the difference unless I'm really, really looking for it. Even when the two phones are side by side, I'd argue that 90% of people feel the same way.
Correct. Most people don't see the difference. But I do since I am used to high refresh monitors and screens.
Problem with Apple is they slapped the name 'ProMotion' to justify the segregation that they are doing. They could have made 120hz go to the standard but of course, gotta make money some how.
I mean you are paying for 700$ device it should come with a hardware that matches the standards of today. Apple fucked up when they called it promotion basically making it a feature that is stuck with the pros for a while.
Case in point: Samsung’s base model is priced similarly but comes with 3 cameras and 120 hertz screen.
This is like saying retina display is not needed in iphone 4 because the resolution was good enough in original iphone. Refresh rate is noticeable. Next year when 120hz becomes standard hopefully apple will say it will be magical

7:55 Maybe you get into this later but the biggest camera differentiator is honestly ProRAW. the pro cameras can have the potential to, even unedited, take substantially better photos than the regular phones simply by virtue of not being limited to the full post processing pipeline. They’re identical on full auto
The 14 pro’s 48MP main shooter was a game changer and only some people really get to appreciate it tbh.

The Camera Control button is the worst new feature this year. It's ill-conceived. It has killed future upgrades for me because I absolutely do not want this piece o' crap button on my device.
Does the better mic on the pro also translate to clearer phone calls? Or are the better strictly when recording videos?
I think so but the difference isn't that big
The camera controls I find it useful, use your index finger on the camera control and you thumb on the screen similar way when you’re using DSLR but the opposite to shoot
My first iPhone was the 11 then I upgraded to the 12PM and now I'm on the 14PM. If the rumor about the 120Hz refresh rate coming to all phones in the 17 lineup I think thats when i'll ditch the pro models.

The spatial audio setting sucks for concerts. I find I need to set it to stereo for concerts. I recorded some shows and the singing and music were quieter than normal. So, for music I don't recommend the spatial audio recording option; but it can be cool in other settings.

Iphone 16 is the best to get, i downgraded my iPhone 14 pro to an iphone 16 plus ultramarine color, it’s so beautiful. The designs of the new iphone pros are really boring this year, if they had release ultramarine in an iPhone 16 pro/pro max, i would upgrade to it without any hesitation. 60hz and 120hz is bullshit the most important is i can text , i can watch youtube, i can do facebook and i can call my love ones. Those are the most important task that i will use my Celphone for and nothing else.
I did something more wild, I gave my 15pro max to my mother and got a reg 16 256, the only thing I miss is the 120hz but you get used to not having it. The camera is still nice and I like how the phone is smaller and lighter. All and all I’m enjoying the 16 a little bit more, mostly because of the size.
Pretty much except for a few niche features that are pro exclusive get the 16 if you could care less about those features

Agree I opted for the pro thought it was smoother, however the battery gets chewed at 120hz, now I’m carrying this brick for no reason as I set it down to 60jz to save battery..
