It's worth it from an XR. I have 12 pro max and last year wasn't worth the upgrade. I'm still not sure it is. I might go used and get a 15 pro max once they have dropped. As they can't be more than 600 now.
I’m still using iPhone X lol, but it’s time to upgrade. My phone still works fine but battery life is shorter now and the phone got slower this year and heating issues too. But hey it’s 7 years old so I’m happy it lasted that long.
I just upgraded from my iPhone 13 to the regular iPhone 16. Very nice upgrade! Very happy with all of its features! Didn't go to the more expensive models so I could justify a smart watch too!! Happy!

You did a fantastic job on explaining this. I purchased the iPhone 16 Pro today, and you solidified my decision. I had an iPhone 12 Pro, and while it did work fine, I had two issues that created problems (1. Battery life was 75% and I had to constantly charge the phone, and 2. The camera (1x View) would automatically always be blurred, necessitating me to do .5x which was annoying. I am not sure why that was happening, but I am trading in the iPhone 12 Pro for $150 (Make certain your viewer know they have the option of getting that refund (with mailing option back to Apple) for their old phone. Thank you very much for doing all the homework.

Currently still on my iPhone 12, it's served me well and still works perfectly apart from the battery capacity. My main reason for not getting the Pro models this time would be the colours, I have always gone for Black. Every time! But I love the look of the new colours on the base models this year. I have a silver and a space black MacBook Pro and wanted to go a different route with my phone this year. Will have to go and take a look at them in-Store to make up my mind I feel. I've been using the iPhone 8 Plus for almost 7 years now, but honestly the only time I felt missing out was when they implemented the Animoji for the X and the newer models. And that feeling of novelty quickly faded away too. The only reason I'm buying the iPhone 16 this time is the battery on my 8 Plus is dying, and the apps in general are becoming sluggish as hell. I hope the action button and the camera control slider make up for the absence of the home button though, because I am sure I am gonna miss it a lot lmao
Same, I have a 7 Plus. The phone has turned into an absolute nightmare with the battery, I go from 100% to 10% within a few minutes of use. It is constantly crashing and is slower than slow.
Same here. I had my iphone8 plus for the same amount of time as you and it works fine.. just the battery isn’t hold it’s charge as long. Trying to decide between iPhone 18plus and 18 pro.

For me I don’t really care about it fitting in my pocket really well I watch a lot of movies and tv shows on my phone even tho I have a tv and a monitor lol it just feels more comfortable so for me the bigger size is worth it but I see where ur coming from
Have a 15 Pro Max and buying 16 Pro. Smaller form factor, less weight plus it now has 5x zoom which is the only reason I got the 15 Pro Max. Love the videos, your corney humor is a big plus and you’re way of making an entertaining and educational video at the same time is spot on.
My grandson went to the beach yesterday and took some amazing Underwater pictures (Which I could upload pics here) with his iPhone 16. The universal charger is also a plus. He didn't have to buy a charger; he is able to use his previous Android charger. The screen protector is another great accessory where the person next to you can't see what you are viewing. He is very happy with the phone.
I recently upgraded from the base 14 to the 15 Pro Max, and love it. While the 16 Pro Max has a couple of good features, I don't see that I'm missing out on all that much. Bigger battery is probably the most interesting thing for me, but the 15 Pro Max has a fantastic battery already, and will be getting some of the Apple Intelligence features in a few months.
It is the one I'm getting. Coming from the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The screen size was cool... it just never grew on me. I thought I would do more gaming and media consumption... but didn't. On planes... I just listened to music and tried to sleep mostly. I miss my old Pro sized phones. The upgrade in size slightly is just enough to make it perfect IMO. Having the extra battery life isn't worth hauling a 6.9 inch screen around.
Yea pro is More for people who take photos and videos if not the regular is the way to go imo I’m going from 14 pro to regular 16 ultramarine great color and don’t take pics or vids like that so don’t care.

That cleared a bunch of questions I had about the 16 pro I think that’s the one I’m preordering. I have the 14 pro at the moment haven’t had an issue with it. But it’s time for an upgrade.
I just traded in my 13Pro for 340.00 to upgrade to my new 16Pro and I love it! Very happy with the trade-in price and, as I don't buy a new phone every year, the difference is very noticeable. It is lighter, more streamlined, brighter, richer and sharper and now my battery works better! All pros to me! The Pro Max looks nice, but I have small hands and can barely manage the Pro! I mostly use mine for photography, watching videos, checking apps, etc., anyhow!

Wife and I are both getting IPhone 16 Pro w/256gb. She is coming from a 12 Pro and I’m coming from a 13 Pro. I think we are getting pretty worthwhile camera, speed, and battery bumps. AI is just a cherry on top.

Apple intelligence is on its early stages and, even that some of the features shown are really cool, they'll probably will be available during the second cycle of the Iphone 16. If you buy an Iphone 16 now, you'd still have to wait 3-6 months to get the full AAI and then Iphone 17 is around the corner with the Iphone 16 pro features (most of them, at least) In my case, I have the 15 base model, and I'll wait until the 17 (at the very least) to upgrade.
It makes sense to me and I agree, but I will still upgrade because I am tired of my 15pm being too big. This time, I am opting for the 16 pro. I just dislike the idea of compromising on the battery life, which is why I always went for the Pro Max models.

Also, “coming this fall” means beginning of fall, or more like winter? It also says “some features coming over the course of next year”. Small print at the end of the page.

@@SGxShadow I love my 12 mini but it’s time to upgrade not because of the software issues but the battery itself I’m at a point where I’m charging my phone three times a day when I work a 12 hour shift. It’s not a battery issue because this is my replace from my previous 12 mini under AppleCare, the phones just have the worst battery. However, I heard they slightly fix that issue with the 13 mini so I’m not sure it would be sweet if they were able to figure out a operable battery.

The 16 plus and 16 pro are rated for the same battery life but for $100 more you get 120hz and a better wide angle lens. I'd go for the smaller pro model if i was in the market for a new phone. But I'll probably wait and see what the next SE looks like before pulling the trigger on anything.
The plus is for people who want a big display but don't need everything the pros have on offer. I'll actually be getting the Plus as when I'm done with it I'll be handing it down to my mom who would like a bigger phone. Otherwise I'd probably just get the 16. For people who primarily use the phone for calls, text, reading, general consumption, casual photography, music, all that stuff the 16 and 16 plus are great options. Really, the Pro is really only a good buy if you're someone who games like crazy on your phone and cares about game performance (I still find it weird that there's phone gamers. Like don't get me wrong I play games on my iPhone and iPad, but those are generally mobile game types and I dont' think Bloons TD6+, Fruit Drop, or Mini Motorways is going to collapse if they have to drop a few frames. Now, Apple either did some sort of partnership with Nintendo, or just reached out to third party Switch devs and ported their Switch games to iOS and macOS that'd be totally different, but I doubt I'll really miss that GPU core.) Really I feel like the Pro (not the Pro Max) has a weird market made up of people who get it just because they want the best though would be totally fine with a 13, but they can afford the one that matches their Ultra or is gold so they do that. Content creators who really benefit from things like studio quality mics and amazing lenses. People who want to be content creators who have money to burn. And I guess like, movie studios buying them as network capable cameras. The Pro Max on the other hand includes all those people, plus wealthy elderly professionals who have the money and just want the biggest phone they can get, these people would use an iPad mini if it could make calls. (At this point we're less than an inch away from the original iPad mini's screen size.) Really the iPhone 16 is the every man/every woman phone. I'm actually really happy with the colour choices this year too. You've got black for basic bitches, you've got white for people who own Apple products and want matchy matchy matchy (yes, that's me), and you've got blue, green, and pink for people who are defined by their penis or are not defined by their vaginas, not defined by genitals at all, or defined by their vaginas. or are not defined by their penis... but may be defined by their love of dick. (I am a card carrying homosexual and licensed to make this joke.) The 16 really presents itself as appealing to the people who just want a phone made by Apple. It has three bright and eye catching colours that will pull in people who care about the colour. It has two really good neutrals for people who the phone is a tool for, or for whom the phone is part of a tech system that it integrates into. Then you've got the Pro and Pro Max models which attract people who 'want the best no matter the cost' or who just like gold.

on the 14pm. not worth it at all. The AI features are a gimmick, and you can get them through other apps. I will only upgrade in 5-6 years. I upgraded from 11pm to 14pm and even that I felt was too soon after doing it
Exactly what I thought. The former Max models were already slightly too big for my taste and bags, the new Pro seems perfect. I'm upgrading from a 15 Pro Max which my son will inherit (he killed his 13 pro Max just in time...)
I just ungraded from a 11 last week to the 16 pro max and the screen size is awesome. Not too while being so much more enjoyable when reading text and emails. Love the camera button also. Mine is set to two clicks to activate so no more having to first unlock screen then find and press camera app. It’s now simple aim phone where you want to take a pic and three quick presses on the button and done.

Thanks for a great video. I was between the 16 and 16 pro. I was debating the larger size on the 16 but you said it well. For $100 more you get all the additional benefits of the pro for slightly smaller size. Now it’s between $9.99 a month for Apple Care or the 2 year plan for $199 that bumps up the overall price. 😂
I think I'm going to keep my green 13 mini for another year as it's working fine and yeah the regular iPhone 16 looks nice but AI Will not really be out for a couple months maybe 6 months who knows so I think better just to wait for the 17
Regular iPhone 16 has very outdated display without ProMotion. I believe Apple is the only manufacturer who still makes these terrible, laggy displays. So if you’re considering an iPhone, then a Pro version is a must in my opinion. Why wouldn’t you even mention it? It’s a big deal!
Pro motion isn't essential for most consumers. I have a 16. It's lighter and i don't take a lot of photos or run games. It's the perfect phone for me and there's not a lot of difference in the A18 chips.

Mark my words, once you use a normal flagship phone (120Hz, any flagship android or iPhone Pro), the regular iPhone will feel very sluggish, it will feel like a 10 year old phone. You will see! I just bought a used 15 Pro instead. Same price as 16, but leaps and bounds ahead. Even my old 13 Pro was much nicer in everyday use than the regular iPhone 16. Same goes for iPads Pro vs. regular iPads.
Good info. Thank you. I will suggest going with the one terabyte 16 Pro Max. That is what I will go for as well. One of the things that made the difference to me was you reminding us of these studio quality microphone on the pro models and the longer battery life on the ProMax model

The plus should be 120hz. With a better battery than 15pro max. At the compromise of performance and camera options. That would balance out the phone options. Even if its 90hz refresh rate that would still be better than 60. 60hz at 2024 is just criminal.

Apple seems to be obsessed with bigger the better. They could have kept a smaller format device in their line - not everybody loves or cares for a huge slice of metal and glass in their pockets (not to speak in the equivalent prices). Not enough motives here to upgrade, unfortunately.
The vast majority of iPhone users are *casual* users (not content creators). For years and years, they've used their iPhones for communication, web surfing, running apps, that sort of thing. Even photography was not a primary function. For them, the iPhone SE, 14 and 15 will still get the job done. And for significantly less money. The fact is that most people are not well-heeled like you are. Being frugal is important to them. How much AI will casual users need or want? That remains to be seen. Personally, I don't need AI. I can easily live without it.
Everyone who gets these newer phone will be inclined to become content creators and we will be blasted on social media with more useless videos brain rotting everyone into a state of docility for them to more easily strip away our freedoms incrementally and covertly. Don't you see? Its all a part of their plan

I feel like you disrespected the 16 Plus a little.... you're recommending to pay $100 more to go to the 16 Pro for a smaller phone when there is basically not much difference to the average user between performance. The 16 Plus is the best priced iPhone 16 overall because it offers the big battery, big screen and pretty much all the features of the $400 more iPhone Pro Max bar a few extremely niche use cases for cameras.
Great point at the end. 16 pro is probably the best future proof option if Apple Intelligence becomes a larger deal. That saved me from getting the 15 pro a year later.
I think I want the iPhone 16 Pro I think that that might be the sweet spot. I wanted something a little bigger than the 6.1 inch screen but the 6.7 and 6.9 are almost too big for me.
The only shitty thing with the pro and pro max for me is the colours. I cannot understand why Apple cannot make the same colour choices across the board. I'd love the pro max in the pink colour like the plus model and the fact it doesn't have that option just makes me feel upgrading to any 16 model is not worth it as I don't want to remain on the plus model but don't like any of the colours of the pro and pro max.

I'm just not really a smart phone guy but I would really like a better camera which was the deciding factor for me. It was time for a change. Personally, I just upgraded last month from 13pro to 15pro max and I LOVE it. Theres no reasons for me to upgrade, but with that being said, if you’re coming from any generation before 11, I’d say it’s extremely worth it. I love using this phone. I like texting people on it and everything. It’s just better than my 13. And blows both my 13&11 out of the water so upgrade if you really want to. I can’t imagine you’d be disappointed. I don’t have the 16, obvi but I’d assume that one will be just as good if not better. At least that’s my hope for others who just want the latest model(:
@@chelious1973I want a 7.5 inch iPhone pro max! Some want smaller. All these fold phones have huge inner screens while the technology isn’t there still for size. I’d go for a conventional candy bar phone which is bigger.
This was a really helpful video. I was already fairly confident I wanted a Pro model again (I currently have the 11pro and due to issues with it I’m not sure it would last until the 17 model comes out) and I’ve always preferred having the best camera I can get when purchasing. I’m just trying to decide on the Max or regular Pro. I tend to listen to a lot of music and video on my phone so battery life highly important to me. This is my only issue.
Had my XR for 6 years and finally upgrading to the 16. I don’t understand people upgrade every couple of years, my XR has served my needs consistently and if it wasn’t for the cracked screen I might have gone another year.
Apple Intelligence will be available on the 15s too. I don’t think I can justify upgrading this year just for a barely bigger screen and an extra button. I’m going to stick with my 15 Pro Max until next year.

You did a fantastic job on explaining this. I purchased the iPhone 16 Pro today, and you solidified my decision. I had an iPhone 12 Pro, and while it did work fine, I had two issues that created problems (1. Battery life was 75% and I had to constantly charge the phone, and 2. The camera (1x View) would automatically always be blurred, necessitating me to do .5x which was annoying. I am not sure why that was happening, but I am trading in the iPhone 12 Pro for $150 (Make certain your viewer know they have the option of getting that refund (with mailing option back to Apple) for their old phone. Thank you very much for doing all the homework.

Currently still on my iPhone 12, it's served me well and still works perfectly apart from the battery capacity. My main reason for not getting the Pro models this time would be the colours, I have always gone for Black. Every time! But I love the look of the new colours on the base models this year. I have a silver and a space black MacBook Pro and wanted to go a different route with my phone this year. Will have to go and take a look at them in-Store to make up my mind I feel. I've been using the iPhone 8 Plus for almost 7 years now, but honestly the only time I felt missing out was when they implemented the Animoji for the X and the newer models. And that feeling of novelty quickly faded away too.
The only reason I'm buying the iPhone 16 this time is the battery on my 8 Plus is dying, and the apps in general are becoming sluggish as hell. I hope the action button and the camera control slider make up for the absence of the home button though, because I am sure I am gonna miss it a lot lmao

Same, I have a 7 Plus. The phone has turned into an absolute nightmare with the battery, I go from 100% to 10% within a few minutes of use. It is constantly crashing and is slower than slow.

Have a 15 Pro Max and buying 16 Pro. Smaller form factor, less weight plus it now has 5x zoom which is the only reason I got the 15 Pro Max. Love the videos, your corney humor is a big plus and you’re way of making an entertaining and educational video at the same time is spot on.

My grandson went to the beach yesterday and took some amazing Underwater pictures (Which I could upload pics here) with his iPhone 16. The universal charger is also a plus. He didn't have to buy a charger; he is able to use his previous Android charger. The screen protector is another great accessory where the person next to you can't see what you are viewing. He is very happy with the phone.
I recently upgraded from the base 14 to the 15 Pro Max, and love it. While the 16 Pro Max has a couple of good features, I don't see that I'm missing out on all that much. Bigger battery is probably the most interesting thing for me, but the 15 Pro Max has a fantastic battery already, and will be getting some of the Apple Intelligence features in a few months.
I am upgrading from the Iphone 13 pro max to the Iphone 16 pro regular size. I liked the big size, but I feel like i needed a more compact device.

It is the one I'm getting. Coming from the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The screen size was cool... it just never grew on me. I thought I would do more gaming and media consumption... but didn't. On planes... I just listened to music and tried to sleep mostly. I miss my old Pro sized phones. The upgrade in size slightly is just enough to make it perfect IMO. Having the extra battery life isn't worth hauling a 6.9 inch screen around.

I just traded in my 13Pro for 340.00 to upgrade to my new 16Pro and I love it! Very happy with the trade-in price and, as I don't buy a new phone every year, the difference is very noticeable. It is lighter, more streamlined, brighter, richer and sharper and now my battery works better! All pros to me! The Pro Max looks nice, but I have small hands and can barely manage the Pro! I mostly use mine for photography, watching videos, checking apps, etc., anyhow!

Apple intelligence is on its early stages and, even that some of the features shown are really cool, they'll probably will be available during the second cycle of the Iphone 16.
If you buy an Iphone 16 now, you'd still have to wait 3-6 months to get the full AAI and then Iphone 17 is around the corner with the Iphone 16 pro features (most of them, at least)
In my case, I have the 15 base model, and I'll wait until the 17 (at the very least) to upgrade.
It makes sense to me and I agree, but I will still upgrade because I am tired of my 15pm being too big. This time, I am opting for the 16 pro. I just dislike the idea of compromising on the battery life, which is why I always went for the Pro Max models.

The 16 plus and 16 pro are rated for the same battery life but for $100 more you get 120hz and a better wide angle lens. I'd go for the smaller pro model if i was in the market for a new phone. But I'll probably wait and see what the next SE looks like before pulling the trigger on anything.

The plus is for people who want a big display but don't need everything the pros have on offer. I'll actually be getting the Plus as when I'm done with it I'll be handing it down to my mom who would like a bigger phone. Otherwise I'd probably just get the 16. For people who primarily use the phone for calls, text, reading, general consumption, casual photography, music, all that stuff the 16 and 16 plus are great options. Really, the Pro is really only a good buy if you're someone who games like crazy on your phone and cares about game performance (I still find it weird that there's phone gamers. Like don't get me wrong I play games on my iPhone and iPad, but those are generally mobile game types and I dont' think Bloons TD6+, Fruit Drop, or Mini Motorways is going to collapse if they have to drop a few frames. Now, Apple either did some sort of partnership with Nintendo, or just reached out to third party Switch devs and ported their Switch games to iOS and macOS that'd be totally different, but I doubt I'll really miss that GPU core.)
Really I feel like the Pro (not the Pro Max) has a weird market made up of people who get it just because they want the best though would be totally fine with a 13, but they can afford the one that matches their Ultra or is gold so they do that. Content creators who really benefit from things like studio quality mics and amazing lenses. People who want to be content creators who have money to burn. And I guess like, movie studios buying them as network capable cameras. The Pro Max on the other hand includes all those people, plus wealthy elderly professionals who have the money and just want the biggest phone they can get, these people would use an iPad mini if it could make calls. (At this point we're less than an inch away from the original iPad mini's screen size.)
Really the iPhone 16 is the every man/every woman phone. I'm actually really happy with the colour choices this year too. You've got black for basic bitches, you've got white for people who own Apple products and want matchy matchy matchy (yes, that's me), and you've got blue, green, and pink for people who are defined by their penis or are not defined by their vaginas, not defined by genitals at all, or defined by their vaginas. or are not defined by their penis... but may be defined by their love of dick. The 16 really presents itself as appealing to the people who just want a phone made by Apple. It has three bright and eye catching colours that will pull in people who care about the colour. It has two really good neutrals for people who the phone is a tool for, or for whom the phone is part of a tech system that it integrates into. Then you've got the Pro and Pro Max models which attract people who 'want the best no matter the cost' or who just like gold.

I just ungraded from a 11 last week to the 16 pro max and the screen size is awesome. Not too while being so much more enjoyable when reading text and emails. Love the camera button also. Mine is set to two clicks to activate so no more having to first unlock screen then find and press camera app. It’s now simple aim phone where you want to take a pic and three quick presses on the button and done.

For $100 more you get all the additional benefits of the pro for slightly smaller size. Now it’s between $9.99 a month for Apple Care or the 2 year plan for $199 that bumps up the overall price. 😂

Regular iPhone 16 has very outdated display without ProMotion. I believe Apple is the only manufacturer who still makes these terrible, laggy displays.

Pro motion isn't essential for most consumers. I have a 16. It's lighter and i don't take a lot of photos or run games. It's the perfect phone for me and there's not a lot of difference in the A18 chips.

I just bought a used 15 Pro instead. Same price as 16, but leaps and bounds ahead. Even my old 13 Pro was much nicer in everyday use than the regular iPhone 16. Same goes for iPads Pro vs. regular iPads.

The vast majority of iPhone users are *casual* users (not content creators). For years and years, they've used their iPhones for communication, web surfing, running apps, that sort of thing. Even photography was not a primary function.
For them, the iPhone SE, 14 and 15 will still get the job done. And for significantly less money.
The fact is that most people are not well-heeled like you are. Being frugal is important to them.
How much AI will casual users need or want? That remains to be seen. Personally, I don't need AI. I can easily live without it.

I have an iPhone 13 mini and an iPad mini and a MacBook Pro to do work and watch content.
But I also don’t mind consuming internet content/shows on the mini. I just love that I don’t have to schlepp around a huge paddle of a phone that does not fit in any normal sized pocket! ☺️

I feel like you disrespected the 16 Plus a little.... you're recommending to pay $100 more to go to the 16 Pro for a smaller phone when there is basically not much difference to the average user between performance.
The 16 Plus is the best priced iPhone 16 overall because it offers the big battery, big screen and pretty much all the features of the $400 more iPhone Pro Max bar a few extremely niche use cases for cameras.
paying premium for 60hz refresh rate is killing me, especially when you could do much better for far less money

Yes, samsung won't cut them a deal on the good screens. So just buy the s24 ultra if you want something that is actually an upgrade.
Great point at the end. 16 pro is probably the best future proof option if Apple Intelligence becomes a larger deal. That saved me from getting the 15 pro a year later.
I think I want the iPhone 16 Pro I think that that might be the sweet spot. I wanted something a little bigger than the 6.1 inch screen but the 6.7 and 6.9 are almost too big for me.

The only shitty thing with the pro and pro max for me is the colours. I cannot understand why Apple cannot make the same colour choices across the board. I'd love the pro max in the pink colour like the plus model and the fact it doesn't have that option just makes me feel upgrading to any 16 model is not worth it as I don't want to remain on the plus model but don't like any of the colours of the pro and pro max.

Cool vid. I upgraded to the 16 Pro yesterday and it should arrive in a couple of days. I'm upgrading from the 2nd generation SE from 2020. I'm just not really a smart phone guy but I would really like a better camera which was the deciding factor for me. It was time for a change. Not to mention the battery life on my 4 year old phone is just not great.

Personally, I just upgraded last month from 13pro to 15pro max and I LOVE it. Theres no reasons for me to upgrade, but with that being said, if you’re coming from any generation before 11, I’d say it’s extremely worth it. I love using this phone. I like texting people on it and everything. It’s just better than my 13. And blows both my 13&11 out of the water so upgrade if you really want to. I can’t imagine you’d be disappointed. I don’t have the 16, obvi but I’d assume that one will be just as good if not better. At least that’s my hope for others who just want the latest model(:

Idk, I still have the 13PM and no issues with its battery life. These updates aren't enough to sway me.

This was a really helpful video. I was already fairly confident I wanted a Pro model again (I currently have the 11pro and due to issues with it I’m not sure it would last until the 17 model comes out) and I’ve always preferred having the best camera I can get when purchasing. I’m just trying to decide on the Max or regular Pro. I tend to listen to a lot of music and video on my phone so battery life highly important to me. This is my only issue.

Had my XR for 6 years and finally upgrading to the 16. I don’t understand people upgrade every couple of years, my XR has served my needs consistently and if it wasn’t for the cracked screen I might have gone another year.

Apple Intelligence will be available on the 15s too. I don’t think I can justify upgrading this year just for a barely bigger screen and an extra button. I’m going to stick with my 15 Pro Max until next year.
