raw photos and 120 hz are as good a reason as any to get the 16 pro over the 16. there is no reason why either of those features should be kept away from the regular iPhones.
Business is the reason. If Apple will add pro motion to the base iPhones it will be most likely 90hz and not 120 to separate the regular from the pros, but to be honest that’s still a good trade off. Raw though? Yeah most people won’t be using that cause most don’t edit photos in photoshop. Raw photos and raw videos are specifically for that reason, for you to do the editing and color grading yourself. Plus take it from someone who as an iPhone 14 pro max, looking at raw photos side by side with regular or HEIF max photos (which the regular 16 do come with), there is zero difference when looking at them straight from the phone. You’re gonna have to take it to photoshop to get the most out of raw photos which again, most people wont use nor do.

I’ve always used pro models. Bought a non pro 16 for my brother. Used it for couple of days but naah pro’s do have that premium feel ! Also refresh rate plays a big role for me. 60 Hz feels like the phone is constantly lagging and its somewhat irritating to my eyes. Plus pro models have the A18 pro chipset which makes it even more faster (Although apple was really late in rolling out the first necessary updates , the lagged and even restarted a couple of times, camera crashed every single time before the update) buts its been taken care of.
Even as Android User S24 i would choose the Pro (small) 16 is not good for me the lack of features. I have the s24 base model is way better than the 16 (base) while the 16 Pro is way way better.
Hi Kyle. So I’ve been weighing up between the 16,16 plus and 16 Pro. I have the 15 plus currently and I know it’s not a big jump if at all but I don’t expect to upgrade for 2/3 years next time and want to have a newer under warranty device that is also set for Apple Intelligence. 2 questions. The X2 crop on the /16 and 16 Plus… is that also available on the 16 Pro? And is the 5X a good mode. I’d appreciate the input. 🤘🏾
yup, you still get 2x zoom. 5x is a personal choice, nice to have if you take a lot of photos I guess of far away subjects or landscapes or something but not necessary
Thank you, I love my 15 plus but have noticed that while the bigger screen is nice and battery is phenomenal, it can be a little cumbersome to use size wise and the 16 Pro with a smaller size and now the 5X zoom as well, just ticks a lot of boxes 👍🏾
Hey Kyle! I'm thinking about which model should I choose. I'm not a photographer just I love to take good pictures and videos on my trips and I use the iphone for this. Currently I have a 14 pro max. I started to think the regular 16 is enough for me but I created a filter on my Photos app how many pictures I did with the telephoto camera and the number is 261 (I like to make closer photos from buildings. f.e.). I like the 120hz refresh rate and like the thinner bezels but these not a deal breaker if I don't have on my next phone. The camera is my first point. I don't think that I will shoot videos in LOG (maybe I would try it), and maybe try the 4K 120fps. So I can't decide what should I choose? 😃 Thanks for this good video I'm closer to which one I should choose but If you can help me more a little bit I would love it!
Still undecided re which model to upgrade to. Looking at 15 Pro/Pro Max, 16 regular (not Plus) or 16 Pro/Pro Max. Waiting to see if we get a new iPad Mini and what upgrades it has. Then I'll decide. Thanks for the content.

iPhone isn’t the wow product I was excited for every year. It’s now just a product I need and don’t care for updating every year. Honestly you have to wait 4 years to see somewhat of a difference. Disappointing for a company that innovation was there goal, now all they innovate in is finding new ways how to take your money and make you feel like you have something special.
Having the samsung s10e (which have 60hz), I thought the iphone 16 60hz is not a big deal but after trying it out in store to compare it with my phone, it seems like the 16 is less smooth even than my s10e (for scrolling, of course opening apps is faster with the 16 but for scrolling I find my s10e smoother, i find it weird tbh), so I’m gonna upgrade to the 16 pro max
My old pixel 4a has 60hz and feels smoother than my iPhones 60hz. I have a Samsung A14 just for the headphones jack , it's 60hz display is also smoother than my iPhone . Doesn't really bother me though
Always get a case especially if you don’t get apple care. The number if times I have dropped my iPhone I can’t tell you. Once it was one crack to the screen and got away with it as Apple replaced it under warranty.
Its so ridiculous how every reviewer especially for Apple talks about the colors knowing 90 % if they are smart at least will be covering it with a case

The only people that don't care about the 60hz screens are the sad group of folks that are currently using old iPhones. Another reason the 60hz doesn't matter, because Apple nerfs their OS so it feels smooth across the 60hz and 120hz screens. The OS would feel much quicker on the Pro if Apple would let their customers use the actual horsepower these devices have. How are these devices, year after year, on paper, faster than any phone on the market, yet the day to day usage and In Hand experience is markedly slower than Android? Even on far lower spec'ed phones. People always claim that iPhones are Smooth, and consistent, and they are, at the expense of letting them utilize the actual power they have. I believe this is strictly for longevity. That is why you can pick up a 12 or 13 Pro today, and barely tell the difference in them in day to day use. Instead of putting out a smoker of a phone, they are worried about people having the same experience 5+ years later. Cool of you have a phone for 5 years, not so great if you want to actually be able to experience all their On Paper horsepower. The only time it utilizes any of this horsepower is for video so if you don't shoot video regularly, you are getting a nerfed phone. Maybe, someday, the Sheeple will stop buying these at such a clip every year, in the US, and Apple will realize they need to do something different. Until then iPhone users will continue to get the same blah experience. The M4 iPad Pro is a perfect example of how much quicker the experience could be but, for some reason the iPhone users get the short end of the stick, and never even realize it. Do better Apple.

16 base is good if you come from 13. But 14 or 15, I don't think it's worth to upgrade
Random question. But what games have you been playing in these recent iPhone videos? They any good?
i made a bad call for for going with the pro max, I personally don't care about cameras on phones and barely take any photos I should just bought 16 plus and would saved about $300.
I am depating between 15pro/16/16 pro, coming from 8plus, not sure what's the best option for the long run, I am leading more towards the 16 pro yet I saw some videos saying the screen is gonna die because its OLED technology but also 15pro camera is trashy etc etc.. so any advice?
When is the iPhone 16 draw ??
which camera do you use for shooting videos?
How anyone experiences with handling matte glass back iphones caseless?
One reviewer cracked the back glass by just flipping the phone on the table
@@gezrez3511 Which reviewer?
I a small yoga content creator . I use my iPhone to shoot. I am confused between iPhone 16 & 16 pro. What should I buy?
Base 16 if you don’t do specific color grading yourself
Upgraded from iPhone 11 Pro Max 256gb to iPhone 16 pro max 256gb and it’s really great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The main sensor is also larger on the pro
Is Lens flair still an issue?
Also better heat management can also be a reason to upgrade, cameras and titanium build too.
lens flare improved quite a bit with both of these - if you want to see a comparison vs the 15 pro, check out my iPhone 16 review, there's a side-by-side in there.
@@KyleErickson alright mate thanks
3:05 is that a wallpaper or something? it looks really cool
Hey Kyle, Big fan of your reviews. I enjoy your colour schemes a lot and the animations. I just love the way you pay attention to details on your videos.
Great Review! As an aside, it was also nice to see some familiar scenes - I soon realized that I was seeing my native Halifax!
I normally go for the pro based on longevity, it holds more beating. Aluminum casing tends to dent easier.
pro motion decided for me...hands down...60Hz in this day and age should be a thing of the past
Yea I’ve had the iPhone 13 Pro Max with 120hz and changed to 16 plus and I notice no difference for what I use it for.
Good review, thanks
Love the wallpapers. Where can I get them?
Could you make iPhone 16 plus vs 16 pro max specs comparison please ❤
I just noticed…. After my xs max finally dying (repairs was $500 after tax, new screen and battery). Looks like they went back to the xs max camera design 😂. Don’t care for the latest and greatest so I just got a 14 plus to replace my xs max which was just being used as a work/business phone
I personally went with the iPhone 16 plus with 256gb, it made more sense and it’s featured packed 60hrz don’t bother me.
fr why do people care so much when its better then 0hz nokia 3000s just 20 years ago like they acc whine as if they make the products
Nice review can You do a battery and speaker test ?
170g, oh that's lite, i would pick that
I’ve always used pro models.
Thanks for this good video I'm closer to which one I should choose but If you can help me more a little bit I would love it!
I think the 16 looks better than my 16 Pro, but I can’t do 60 Hz.
Has nothing to do with the review, but every time I hear him say the intro I always mishear it as “hey everyone, Kyle lurks in here” and it’s always hilarious
I definitely do lurk in here tho 👀
based on quality/price the base and plus models are the best
iPhone isn’t the wow product I was excited for every year. It’s now just a product I need and don’t care for updating every year. Honestly you have to wait 4 years to see somewhat of a difference. Disappointing for a company that innovation was there goal, now all they innovate in is finding new ways how to take your money and make you feel like you have something special.
Are you in Halifax NS? I saw HFX transit bus #24 in your video... Good to know... 😀
Cruising by on 60 Hertz ✌️
We also love see through cases
I have a clear case lol
Got the iPhone 16 Pro yesterday in black. I love it. Upgraded from an iPhone 14 Pro.
Same here. I wasn’t really impressed with the 14 pro camera. 16 pro is a lot better, I’ll be keeping this one much longer before upgrading.
I‘d choose the 16 (non pro)
Me too and i love it cause i got tired of big phones
I would grab the 16 in a heartbeat if it had a faster display
14 Pro has a 120Hz display and 15 Pro has an Action Button plus 120Hz display if you don't like the iPhone 16
@@jevonsims900 yea I ended up sticking with my 13 Pro. I had the 16 Pro for 11 hours. I feel like if I’m going to move to the 14 Pro or 15 Pro I might as well just keep my 13 Pro. iPhone 17 it is
@@Treborray everyone would grab it then. Apple ain't stupid unfortunately, the customers are
@@kjjr3270 this is true. The 17 base will more likely have 120hz. I wonder if they will make the Pro models even faster. I get paid to play mobile games so that would force me to go Pro 😂
For some reason people pay £200 more for 120hz 😂
Slightly more powerful chip set, extra camera and camera features IE pro RAW - for the extra £200
Thanks as always Kyle, the time and effort you put into your work is obvious for anyone to see.
Also, thanks for the side by side review of both models as it answers many of the questions we users perpetually have every year when the new iPhone(s) debuts.
Greetings from Montreal to you my fellow countryman! 🇨🇦
thanks for watching!!
Good TH-cam content creator
120hz on iphone is uncomfortable when comparing to android cause of the slower scrolling for me, it's smooth but it feels slow for 120hz
I used a iPhone 4, 6s Plus, and 7 before my 16 base, I could care less about 120hz
If iPhone 16 had a 120hZ screen there would be absolutely NO point to buy iPhone 16 Pro.
And that's why they limit the 16 to 60hZ to incentivize people to get the Pro. It's silly
Not all of us can afford new phones every year, even every 2-3 years the difference is minimal for most people’s needs. Only for the enthusiasts.
@@GreenLeafUponTheSky Only people that still use 60hz screens say this.
Whatever you say or try to exaggerate that 60Hz panel is still gonna be the big no no

Yeah, don't waste your money...Buy the iPhone 15 Pro
Where I live (Belgium), the 15 pro is like a 130 euros more than the 16 base. I'm very torn between 16 and 15 pro but I don't get why it's more expensive still :p
@@missurbanjungle2356 be patient
No way i buy a 60 hz at this price in 2024, i hope the influencers wake up and yell more, this is the only way to move things forward. To defend this, its a total heresy.
I mean, base ip16 already costs a TON but with compromises. I feel like if you're ready to spend that much (256gb price is what im talking), then better get the Pro.
Don't waste your money on the 16 you mean... get aa 16 pro and use it for 7 years, or haave to upgrade in 2-3. yes, the colours are nice, but its a trap
