I offer one example of how a child's creativity can be squashed. When I was age nine, I recited a poem before a small audience. I vaguely remember gesturing and perhaps speaking with emphasis. Later, a lady in a wheelchair gestured to me to come to her. She told me that she wished to have me in her acting class. My parents heard this and firmly said no. For years I watched movies on the television, and fantasised that I was one of those leading ladies. Sadly, the religion my parents belonged to considered that to be inappropriate as a profession. That dream of mine quietly faded, never to return. I add this: it is wonderful to get an entirely different perspective on what education should be offering to children. I try to find every lecture that I can that is available where this amazing man speaks. I am so encouraged by what he says. I believe that it is up to everyone to encourage our schools to go in a new direction. Also, thank you Sir Ken for the many moments of laughter and very thought provoking words.

I hear this again and again that the education system is flawed and obsolete. But nothing is done ☹️
