03 Ram Broke Axle (READ DESCRIPTION)

- I REALIZE THE CAMERA JOBS SUCKS, AND SHE'S AN IDIOT... BUT, This is My 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 truck, 35" Mud Grapplers, 6" suspension lift. Removed front bumper for more clearance. Went into the pit in 4x4, got out in 2wd. Broke the axle just as I was getting into it, you can hear it.
Reason why it broke, is because the dumbass company that installed the lift, cranked the torsion keys all the way up and put too much strain on the CV joints. They paid for the repair bill to say the least ;)
Dodge rules... why do you think I got out of THAT in 2wd? Even with a f*** up from one stupid company! :)

did everyone notice how slow & steady wins the race? flooring the shit outta the throtle is not a sure fire way of getting out of a situation.
even with the broken front end, it's still a sick looking rig.

@03Ram06CBR1000RR the 1500 body is the same as a 2500, 3500, 4500, 5500. You have about 2.5-3 inches to play with. I've already done it. The worst part was the seam that's hidden behind the fender and splash guards, I had to grind that down due to my wheel offset.

I lol'd at 'Front wheel tires'. Gorgeous truck dude, I'm a Chevy person, but I can recognize a baaad aaaass truck no matter what make or model.
It does not matter what truck you have, it's all about power, weight, traction, and clearance. A completely stock Dodge would still be sitting there as well as a Chevy/GMC 'n Ford. The upgrades that you put on the truck are what got you out, the truck alone wouldn't have.
Going to IFS was great for on-road handling and ride, about the worst thing to deal with when lifting a truck and going off road though.

why does a diff drop not help? it brings the cv angles closer to where they should be if not where they should be....

Thats why I want to do a solid axle swap on my 01 Sierra cause you really cant trust those CV's to get you out of a fucked up situation.

@03Ram06CBR1000RR Actually you can cut the fenders. I did it on mine to fit 37's with a 3" KORE lift.
You can hear that thing snap as soon as he hit the hole.

@1596brad 1979 F-100, stock, carb settings were screwed up because of the woman that owned it before me. Before I reset it and fine tuned it it would still start with a vacuum leak and a starter that was going bad. Now with a new master cylinder, brake booster, power steering pump (fill tube was cracked), lines and a battery it runs like it was just out of the show room. As I said bone stock with a 351w.

awww damn. big trucks and big holes dont mix...gets expensive quick. go get a beater cherokee or something small and toss one tons and gears at it and some lockers and make a dedicated trail rig you can thrash on without care, its way more fun when you dont need it on monday to get to work....so you dont kill that nice truck.

No they don't, it rotates the differential. It really doesn't "drop" it. Thus causing it to work at a horrible angle making your shit break.

i broke both cv's on my 2010 last winter not at the same time but within like a months time frame....i hate idfs

if dodge wasn't a piece of crap, the front axle (CV, whichever part) wouldn't have broken...regardless of how tight the torsion bars were....in order for the torsion bars to BREAK an axle on a 1500 class truck, The Incredible Hulk would have had to tighten them down...

Dodge trucks are no longer made, all the new ones from 07 up are Ram. Dodge and Ram are seperate companies owned by bigger seperate companies.
The company is not stupid if they fixed it at no cost to you.
mopar should of stuck with the solid axle up front...heres an example of they dont make em like they used to
