we just had this rodeo at my place. My dad has a 2017 with the CK engine light on the last 3 years he's paid what the law requires to the dealer!!!! The dealer where he bought the truck and it is under warranty but they say they cannot fix it because they don't know what it is so state law says he has to pay $500 and they will Waiver the vehicle... That is Pennsylvania. In March he buys another Dodge truck and the CK engine light is on on that one. Saturday afternoon he came here and I proved to him they are ripping him off. I put in 107 octane avo gas at the airport where I keep my plane.. He went home light was still on he said to me. Next morning light was out.... He is getting scammed by the dealer... SCAM SCAM SCAM... Its the ethenol in the gas and just recently here they have put stickers on most of the pumps in my area. Don't know about other places but You will see CONTAINS 15% ETHENOL... I am told now Super unleaded can contain up to 25% Ethenol. that can't be good for thee Evap..

Why people continue to go to dealerships for those thousand dollar repairs is beyond me. If you don't want to work on your vehicle, take it to a local mechanic. Find one you trust. Dealers, ESPECIALLY Ram dealers, are the biggest scam artists on the planet. I had my truck in for a recall (only time I go to a dealer) They did a "complimentary inspection" and said I needed a new cabin air filter...... and asked for $175 to do it. It's a $15 filter, takes five minutes and zero tools to change. LMFAO.

I also had the code for the active air dam, but that code can be thrown if there are bugs or something on the fins that keep them from completely closing during the startup test. No big deal. Other than that, I've had the rear window replaced 3 times due to water leaks, the driver's side sun visor broke and fell down in my face while in traffic, and now the exhaust manifold is cracked. These are all incredibly common problems on the 5th gen. Especially the window leaks. EVERYONE is getting them.

The automakers claimed that small truck sales all but disappeared by 09 recession, but I think that was just an excuse to try to make trucks that are as overpriced and profitable as possible , moving forward, because of the bailout agreements they brokered with the federal govt. There's defintely a market for small trucks as most people who own trucks never tow or haul anything. I see so many of these f250 or 2500 series trucks, lift kits, oversized off road tires, and i bet most of them have never left pavement. Or had more than set of golf clubs in the bed. Status symbol to own a truck now because of how overpriced they are. The only people buying them new , could just as easily buy a mercedes or bmw. People who actually need trucks just want a bare-bones 2 door , 8ft bed. that doesn't even appear to be an option anymore.

I'm on my 3rd Ram. I've had a 2nd gen, 3rd gen, and 4th gen. They've all been really good trucks. The only issue I've ever had is with my 4th gen when the cab vents (2 of them, about 6x6 inches each, located between the back of the cab and the bed) disintegrated and let water stream right into the cab every time it rained. The dealer wanted over $1000 to fix it because they said the bed had to be removed to access the filters (which are literally $8 each, by the way). So, I spent $100 on a Milwaukee electric ratchet, pulled the rear seat, pulled the rear cab panel, and there were the 2 filters. Pulled the old ones, put the new ones in, and put everything back together. Took about 30 minutes total. Literally spent a tenth of what the dealer wanted (before tax, etc.) and didn't have to remove the bed.
I've owned trucks from each of the Big 3. They've each been really good in their own way, and none of them ever let me down. But every time I went to the dealer, regardless of the company, I got ripped off. It's what dealers do and that's why people hate them so much. They will lie, cheat, and steal, and then laugh at you for being foolish enough to come onto their lot. It's not just Chrysler. It's all of them. I'm not at all surprised they locked OBD2 access, since gaining access is means you have to go back to the dealer (or a certified mechanic) and give them more money. I'm just surprised more companies DON'T do that. You're right, it's shady business practice, but nobody is going to hold them accountable.
Now, you mentioned Honda and Toyota (I think) in this video as companies who don't do that sort of thing with the OBD2 access. My parents are lifelong Toyota fans. Literally won't drive anything else. And I've seen those cars fall apart right out from under them. I've also seen the Toyota dealer screw them so bad my father had to physically stop my mother from throwing a brick through the showroom window. So, to be fair, I think it's safe to say that ALL dealers are shady and should not be trusted, and ALL cars will have recalls and issues here and there, so it's best to just pick your flavor and be as happy as you can with it. We're all in the same boat.

Where I live, you can pass the emission test if you have one readiness test incomplete. The reason is that lots of people failed even weeks after replacing their 12 Volt batteries because meeting the conditions for passing fine leak are so difficult to meet for some cars.
I found that out with my Tacoma which was still indicating not ready on my scan tool several weeks after changing the battery. I was running out of time to renew my registration, so I went to SMOG check anyway. They passed the Tacoma. I constantly had to fix it I went through three radiators, three water pumps two starters, leaky back window exhaust manifold. Bolts are broken no heat on the driver side, and I kept up with the truck changing oil all the fluids and everything but it was time to say goodbye they just don’t make anything last anymore. Scotty, don't forget one of the biggest problems with Dodge. All 3rd gen rams have the fuel pump relay integrated into the fuse box. If the relay goes bad, and it will (my 2012 2500 went bad and I'm in Fl), you got to replace the entire fuse box. Which is very expensive. But there is a work around for that using verticalvisions tipm plug in relay that uses a spare relay and wiring in the box to restore it without changing the fuse box. Great solution.
Then there is the cam shaft and lifter problem with all the Hemi's with the active fuel management requiring the heads to be rebuilt due to worn out lifters, camshaft, and valves. Luckily, I don't have that on my Hemi.

I really love the ride n performance of my 2019 RAM. No other half-ton comes close IMO. Where else can I get that great cockpit feel, ride and consistent performance?

Same, I’ve got a 2019 bighorn with 80k Miles. With the e torque. It’s way nicer and cheaper than a used f150 of equivalent year and mileage. I was considering a Tacoma, but they’re just too slow, and Toyota & Subaru cruise control sucks. Time will tell if our trucks make it to 150k with no hemi tick.

One day Scotty is saying Ram is really nice then on this one he is saying it's bad because you can hook a scanner to Rams...They are #1 in consumer ratings the past few years.. Consumers are the buyers so I'd listen to them

I have the 5.7 HEMI in my Grand Cherokee. The problem with the CE light coming on is, it disables "ECO" mode, which means the vehicle runs on all 8 cylinders full time and your gas mileage goes into the toilet. I get 19-21 mpg normally. My CE light pops on once a month or so and it drops to 12 mpg. I just reset the codes right away and keep going, but it's annoying.

I fuckin hate my Ram truck. 2 engines later after owning it for 6 years. And it’s a 2011. Had to replace, Computer, wire harness, all the plastic switches including the blinker, rear differential…… All that’s left is the transmission that seems to be working fine(for now). I WILL NEVER BUY A RAM AGAIN!

Come back and talk about your Ram Truck Failures after 3 to 400.000 Miles first THEN we can see the difference between the crappie Italian México RAM pile of junk and and for example Toyota or Honda products.

@JWORLDKING really? Pile of junk? That's kinda of unnecessary. Likewise, I've had toyotas and sold them because I wasn't happy. I got a ford ranger with close to 500,000 that runs like a champ 👌🏻
