    The background blur with overlays, corrections in red, fast-forward where appropriate - thanks for putting in the work to make these videos top-notch.

    I just installed my bars today with your help. A couple of things to make it easier for the next guy... 1. There's no need to remove the throttle side grip since it is on the throttle tube and not the bar. 2. The factory grips don't have any glue on them, just pressure fit, so I used a straw to blow some soapy water up under the grip and it slid right off with zero damage to the bar or grip.

    Man I had been wanting to get the sport bars for a while but was hesitant cuz this is my first bike and I'm not too knowledgeable yet and was afraid they'd be too hard to Install. But I found your video and realized they're easy to do and bought em that night. Got them in today and used this video as a visual reference along with the instructions. So thanks a lot man, I absolutely love them!

    I just got mine in the mail this evening, I was gonna bring it to a shop but thanks to your vid u just saved me like $90. I have a lime green 09 650r. I'm really excited to install them and ride the bike. Thumbs up to u.

    Thanks buddy - watched this before installing mine. Only difference is the latest bars come with two locator holes on both bars so they are identical (you just have to pick the right one for each side). Other than that the process was just the same and I got them installed nice and easily - thanks for taking the time to make the video; you did a great job of it and it definitely made my life easier. Ride safe. :)

    Thanks for sharing. I'll add your notes to the description if anyone else needs it. Yes, you are right with the throttle grip. I wish I had realized this before I did my install. Lol. Congrats on the new bars. Enjoy!

    Lol... I thought the exact same thing before I bought mine. Saw one on TH-cam that had the "ninja" on it and wish I could get it. But after having mine, I could care less what it says. The handling is just so much better! Love these bars.

    @msalad18... No problem. That's awesome that you will be installing them on your bike.
    Yes, I love it. It definitely took some getting used to but the handling is GREAT! I have a video on my channel of a ride through Mulholland Hwy before the install. I will be making one this weekend of a ride after the install so you will be able to compare the two.
    And YES, I did have to face the levers more downward. They were way too high and in a very awkward position.

    I also installed these bars 2months ago V3. I wish they still had the previous version which had "Ninja" instead of "sport bars".
    The instructions also recommended to use " blue loctite". I only used it on the main center screws and the ones that hold the bars.

    Pretty cool. I just installed mine on my 2012. Everything went fine, except that I had to destroy my left grip to get it off...little bugger. I'll just buy a new on in the morning. So, I was taking to the guys who designed and sell these, and they said there is a way to prevent that break cable from hitting your dash at full lock. It requires re-situating it using some "banjo" tie technique. I have no clue. I'll Google it.

  • @MrGeo69
    @MrGeo69 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree. I asked 650rshop why they changed it and They said kawasaki told them too or will face "legal action".
    oh yes I love the handling, makes it feel like a brand new bike. lots of searching and those are the best looking bars you can get for a ninja.

  • @mavricxx

    To all those doing this job on a 2012> Ninja 650R, the handlebar clamp comes in 2 pieces just in case you're confused when you get it like I was. Since in all the videos it looks like it's just one piece I was confused, turns out the center handlebar clamp is made up of 2 pieces. Also, the handlebars are both identical therefore interchangeable either on the clutch side or the throttle side.

    • @blu9016
      @blu9016 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rene G. Solis I recently installed these bars on my bike as well and Rene is right. The bars are the same, interchangeable, i am very pleased with the new bars. Although make sure you adjust the leverscorrectly or your hands will go numb from zero blood flow. A flat wrist is a good wrist while driving.

  • @MartinSalad

  • @BOUNDLA

    @MrTinman818 thanks! I actually ended up using my longer alen wrench and twisting it all the way in, then sprayed some soapy water inside, slipped right off!

  • @MrTinman818
    @MrTinman818  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glad you like them, bro! Does it go into the windshield during regular riding or just at slow turn when the bars are fully turned to one side?
    The 09 windshield is different from the 06-08 models. I've heard of that problem before for 09s and newer but with it only being as slow speed maneuvers, a lot of guys just ignore it.

    Hello, just wanted to say thanks aswell! I bought a 2015 Ninja 650 about 4 months ago, and immediately bought Sport bars for it. I brought it to the dealership, and they refused to touch the bars because i didn't order it through them. Like WTF. But anywho, i'm going to be using your video as a reference to install aswell. I don't really believe that Banjo bolt will be an issue. The only time i Lock is when in the garage. and i can fabricate the Housing on it anyways. ThankYOU. safe riding

  • @MrTinman818
    @MrTinman818  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, I noticed when I installed the bars, that the lines would hit the instrument cluster but only at full lock. And it was not very much. Didn't effect braking and I'm not usually braking at full lock anyway. Most likely idling in a parking lot or something. Lol.

  • @MrTinman818
    @MrTinman818  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    'Aftermarket' just means a part that is not OEM and replaces the existing stock part. There are a few other options on the ninja650shop but the quality of the sportbars are excellent.
    The bars hitting the windshield usually depends on the year of you 650. I have seen people having the issue with the newer models ('09+). It is only an issue when you are trying to make a u-turn or tight parkinglot type of turns. You should be okay. Check out some review vids.

      @@MrTinman818 did you remember the size of the grips ?

  • @MrTinman818
    @MrTinman818  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @blissful0ne I already PM'ed you, but I'm not sure if it went through because I was on my phone. I'm sure you already figured it out by now. Just in case, you can use a flathead screw driver and lift up one end of the grips. Once you have lifted the grips as much as you can, you can spray hairspray to loosen it up. That stuff works wonders. :)

  • @krazysj
    @krazysj 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Def love the new bars. It took like an hour the throttle side gave me prob lit but the rest was fine. The only prob I'm having is that my front break lever goes inside the windscreen. I have aftermarket levers.

  • @MrTinman818
    @MrTinman818  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    My 650r is an '06. The process should be identical for the 06-08 models. And even the 09-newer shouldn't be horribly different. Just a few minor adjustments I would assume.

  • @ulises83

  • @MrTinman818
    @MrTinman818  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, I have been doing a lot of canyon riding lately, so for the enhanced handling, I personally prefer the Sport Bars. However, if I was strictly commuting or going on long rides often, I would probably prefer the stock bars as they are more comfortable with the standard riding position. Either one works great though.
    As far as the leg position goes, I'm about 6'1" and notice no difference between the two. Your butt still sits in the same spot as before, so the sport bars have no effect.

    • @mavricxx
      @mavricxx 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +0neKingD0wn yeah, removing them was a pain in the ass but I figured out an easy way. First stick a flathead screwdriver in there and get it all around so it undoes all the glue on the inside. Then with the screwdriver still inside spray some silicone lube in there and it'll slip off like nothing. I ended up reusing the stock grips because I didn't feel like dealing with trying to remove the second one afterwards lol. Just make sure to wash it and dry it well if you're going to reuse the stock grips.

    When you installed the bars, were you having trouble with the brake and throttle lines getting crammed? I've got my throttle side bar installed but the brake barely pulls and throttle doesn't snap back because the line is almost in the shape of an S. I ride an '09 650r - not sure if that changes much.

  • @guitarman0365

    gets you out of the wind...for taller people that is a big issue.. sport bars eliminate some of the wind resistance...besides they look better on a sport bike..might as well get a cruiser if you want that upright position.

    hey mr tinman818 did you have a problem with the throttle cable after the installation of the sport bar. my throttle wont roll back as quick as before ( almost like a sticky throttle). i found that the cable pulling the throttle back had some what too much slack. I remove the while from the bracket underneath the fork and extended it a little bit making a little better. is there anyways to adjust the cable that pull the throttle back?

    I know it's a long shot but, I just purchased a 2010 Ninja 650 with sport bars and I had to take the windscreen off because the levers were hitting the windscreen. Only during low speed maneuvers but as I drive a lot in town that was an issue. Is that something that you experienced?

    Sorry for the late response on this. I never found anything. I'm not sure if it is still even a problem for you since this was 3 months ago. Really? Does it actually press the lever in or is just just barely making contact. If it is really interfering with your riding, I would recommend taking a second look at it and making sure you did all the steps right. If it is just grazing it at full lock, I think you'll be alright. There really isn't a true need for turning the levers all the way when riding anyway.

    does this make the 650 more of a crouch rocket riding position?

      Andrew Andrews I know this comment is a bit old, and you may have already found your answer elsewhere...but yes, it does move the handlebars down and forward slightly, and makes for a more aggressive riding position, but not quite as aggressive as a supersport.

    Why would you but a 650 for comfort over the 600 and them just get 600 like bars. I may never know

      For one, the insurance is cheaper, then there's the fact it's a great beginner bike. Also, the gas, this bike is a great commuter bike but the height of the handlebars is too high with these, you're not totally uncomfortable but also gives you that sporty feel for those days you feel like opening her up. With this bike it has enough power to have plenty of fun with but it's not crazy power where it's gonna get you killed on the first day either. Just pointing out my personal reasons but I'm sure many here have those same reasons why they bought this bike too.
