    MG4 has landed in the UK with 135 kWh charging capability on 64 KWh battery. Haven't tested yet but it promises only 30 min from 10 to 80%.

      Should be on sale in Thailand, too, so Bjørn can maybe check up on it there 😊 Love his videos from Thailand. Still remember his run up their highest mountain with the brand new Ora Good Cat where it suddenly started to overheat a few kilometers from the top 😲

      So it overcharges the battery by over twice the stated capacity? I don‘t think that is possible. Plus it would be pretty risky.

      @@andrejmeschede2057 well examples galore, let's say ioniq 5 has 77ish kWh battery capacity and yet it peaks at 220kw charging speed. The list goes on, Tesla, PSA cars etc.

    So why have they made the P7 have slow charging but the G9 have crazy fast charging?

    P7 was designed for Chinese markets. In China, except Tesla, most of fast chargers are about 60KW most. Charging speed is not that important.

    My 8yo 85kWh S charges faster until ~35%. Obviuosly if using slower charger from the start (i.e. not as much heat) it's able to keep up for longer.

      I can think of several reasons: Guess #1: A large first generation DC charging network in China might have been constructed in early days for 50 to 100 kW. Guess #2: I you charge a battery with 1 C, there is less stress for the battery - better lifetime, less problems with overheating and cooling. Guess #3: If you limit the current to about 200 Amperes, you save material and cost for high current cabling and high current semiconductors.

      @@robertsarkezi2080 Tesla is far behind the germans to 90%. All BMWs (IX I4 IX3)are on the 40min mark at 90%. Mercedes also. Audi and Taycan a lot faster. Tesla used 46min to 90 in this test, Tesla are on VW level on average charging speed

    • @pilotandthecity8527
      @pilotandthecity8527 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly think you should change your test. To test different cars against each other it would make sense to measure added kW per min.over a 5-90% range. In that way you're better able to compare different battery sizes.
      Besides mentioned this above, the P7 has a terrible charge speed compared to other modern ev's!
      With more chargers around the charging speed is way more important then the battery size.
      I would alway prefer smaller battery and a great changing speed, then this. A 1000km challenge will show you the downside.

    Perhaps the Chinese brands are all re-using 'stock' BMS software from someplace because their charging curves are very similar...

    • @ziggyyo

      Most buyers are probably not aware of technical details. Tesla is years ahead, but the competitors will learn and improve their next generation technology. Tesla has to keep innovating to stay ahead.
