  • This is an excerpt from a pure woodwind-arrangement of the Nimbus 2000 theme, written by John Williams for the Harry Potter movies. Spitfire's Symphonic Woodwinds (now repackaged in the Symphonic Orchestra) were the obvious choice for this, as they were recorded at the same location that was used for the original Harry Potter score. Speaking of obvious choices, I did use some external reverb on this mockup, but I won't tell you which plugin I used - if you know your reverbs you should be able to guess this correctly even without listening to the mockup ;)

@@manvith_ Do you mean a cover that combines different marvel themes?

Lovely as always Laurin! ❤ Congrats on 1000 subscribers mate. I’d love to see some woodwinds special, while we’re on that topic anyway. How about trying to find some uses for woodwind samples that were recorded dry? SstW come to mind, but there are more - the Claire series for instance - or the Chris Hein ones. There must be some examples of film- or anime scores that have a “drier” sound aesthetic? I sometimes wonder who uses Spitfire’s studio series, especially the winds and brass. And for what type of cues.

      Thank you!
A video about dry woodwinds is a nice idea (woodwinds don't get enough appreciation anyway!), the only problem is that my collection of libraries is kind of lacking in this area. I normally avoid dry libraries as wet ones tend to be closer to my aesthetic preference. That said, I have had my eyes on Spitfire's Studio Woodwinds for a while now, so this might still happen at some point :)

The shorts are too sluggish. I guess it's the usual Spitfire programming. Comparing this mockup with one in yt made with CSW and the one made with VSL Woods in their official page, well. This one is really not my favourite.

Fair enough - and yeah, tight shorts are not exactly Spitfire's strong suit. Every short articulation in this mockup was programmed right on the grid, so if something seems too loose it's because of the way the samples were edited.

    Hm... Its really good!
But i feel Like you could have done a better job with the articulations. Not tight enough Shorts and too loose Sound... But a good mockup overall!!
