The narcissist are very insecure. Remember that. They hold this facade that seems strong but it’s because of there own ego. They are jealous because you are more powerful than them. They want you to feel like them or even worse so that they can feel better about themselves.
The Narcissistic Qualities are a defence mechanisms that has consumed their very being and left them a hollow shell. The Narcissistic is a false self that creates a sort of spaced Armor by hollowing out the person who created the false grandiose image of themselves. The false self rescues them and then eats them and lives in the shell of their body. They're dead inside they have a schizoid precursor core too the development of the narcissism. Very sad honestly, they can't acknowledge who they really are anymore because that would mean that they would die.

I have mental illnesses from a traumatic childhood. As an adult I’d take my Mom out to lunch and she would bring up one of my horrible memories out of the blue and watch me get upset. She would go home and call my sister crying that I was mean to her.
