Kids in the early 80s have it the most difficult because we have to be tech savvy because that is the norm, and then teach these kids that they need to learn from us and evolve at the same time
@@_Sergmanx_ check it out. It released in arcades in 1989, 1990 on Genesis. It’s kind of a Space Harrier clone, but it has the greatest music the Genesis ever produced. It’s a lot of fun and comes from Namco. To this day, I LOVE Burning Force! The arcade version is available on Switch, but I much prefer the Genesis version.
Oh really!? I’ll have to play both versions then. Thanks for the recommendation. Maybe I’ll have it featured if I make another Sega Genesis hidden gems video.
"The CPU can be an asshole" haha, so true! Nice job, there are some great picks here. I actually imported Magical Hat back in early 1991, from Diehard Gaming (the shop owned by the magazine guys,or the shop that would later become a magazine.. you know what I mean.). I was on an import kick ever since I found out that I could trim off the cart slot tabs to get MD carts to fit, and EGM said Sunsoft wouldn't be able to release BATMAN due to Nintendo's rules (though, of course it came out the next year. :P ). A few other Japanese MD imports that I own, that I would suggest for hidden gems: 1. Devil Crash MD (This, is of course the MD port from the TG16/PCE Devil's Crush/Crash game. WIth enhanced bonus graphics. redrawn sprites, and some excellent Technosoft (Tecno Soft?) music, to help fill out the package. I loved the TG16 game, but I think I like the MD port even more. Especially if you count the hidden bonus music (entering passwords to unlock them. You get music from Elemental Master, Thunder Force II, Herzog Zwei! Some people don't like how they added a sidebar, to make up for the extra horizontal resolution, but I actually like this. It's helpful in knowing, at glance, which bonus stages you still need to complete, as well as some other useful stuff. 10/10 for me. 2. Rainbow Islands EXTRA (Incredibly arcade accurate port of the TAITO classic. Unlock some later ports, it retains the copyright-infringing "Over The Rainbow" chiptune rendition. It's a tune that you don't think you'd miss, until it's taken away from you. It needs to be there! It has a few difference from the arcade, some good, some strange, like the first level being at night(?) instead of the daytime, with a black BG instead of blue. You soon forget about that, with everything else looking for colorful and awesome. 3. Marble Madness (Tengen MD version). Sure, the EA USA port of Marble Madness is OK, but Tengen went the extra mile to replicate the arcade version. They also don't shred your hearing (depending on whether you like the music of MM or not), with screeching treble, this sound SO much better. It also controls better, and even has support for Sega's MD Mouse (not the Genesis Mouse). The MD Mouse has a special feature where you can turn it upside down, and use the mouse ball (hah) as a trackball of sorts. I haven't had the pleasure, or displeasure depending on who's reviews of it you've read.
Thank you for the recommendations! Funny enough as of late I’ve been on a big import kick. I’ll definitely check out the games you mentioned. It’s still nice even after all these years to discover games that is relatively unknown.
Thanks for sharing the games. I'm going to try Chiki Chiki Boys. Another game that I would consider a hidden gem is Rent a Hero, which is a Japan only release but it has been translated. It's a top down adventure game that cuts to sidescrolling beat em up type combat. You play as a guy who gets a job doing hero stuff. Sometimes it's just running errands, but other times it involves fighting bad guys. I haven't completed it yet, but I've had a lot of fun with it.
I’ll definitely check out Rent a Hero thank you for the recommendation! You will enjoy Chiki Chiki Boys it’s not super long and the difficulty is just right.
First off, tell me why i just got a notification for this AFTER i already have been watching this!?😑 secondly, i didnt know about the magic hat game, but it looks like a solid play. Definitely loved wily wars for sure. Of course it looks better on genesis, sega does what nintendont 😉😆. Holy shit, i totally forgot about chiki chiki boys until you mentioned it! I played it via emulation back in high school, and forgot about it until now!
Beautiful list man! OutRun is such a classic, I swear I have these vivid memories from childhood playing OutRun with one of my cousins at their house. It probably happened!
Good video! I’ve heard of some of these games, but never thought much of them. Outrun 2019 in particular looks much better than I expected it to be. The one game I disagree with being included is Mega Man: The Wily Wars. It’s not bad, but I think it’s significantly worse than the original NES games. There’s just a lot of subtle changes that seemingly unintentionally make it much harder. You can’t shoot as fast, your hurtbox is bigger, some of the bosses take more hits to kill, and a lot of the strategies to win in the originals just don’t work anymore. At the very least, I wouldn’t recommend it to beginners who aren’t looking for an extra challenge beyond the originals.
Thank you! I think MM1 is better in Wily Wars but as far as MM2 & 3 I would stick with the NES versions. I would recommend Wily Wars to someone who has never played the franchise before. Hopefully they would then check out the NES versions afterwards.
The trolling in that split screen race to the finish game is bonkers!! That's actually pretty funny.
I was blown away while I was recording the gameplay in disbelief lol.

That is true!
Why does NO ONE ever mention Burning Force?! It is literally the game that made me get a Genesis!
I never heard of the game sadly. I’ll have to look up some gameplay and check it out.

Thank you very much I appreciate it!

I also remember MM The Wily Wars being on the Sega channel. A few Japan only titles were playable on the service.
It’s a shame it never came out over in North America back in the day.
Thanks for sharing the games. I'm going to try Chiki Chiki Boys.

Magical Hat Adventure is kind of a sequel to Psycho Fox on the Master System
I just looked up some gameplay and looks really good. I can see the elements used in Magical Hat from Psycho Fox. I’ll have to play it at some point.
Or a spiritual successor to Psycho Fox.
Love your voice, content and taste in games! Subscribed and binge watching!
Thanks a lot I appreciate it!
I liked Outrun 2019 better than the original. Probably for the reasons you mentioned.
Outrun 2019 is so good! I like it more the original for sure.
Two Crude Dudes was one of my favourite games to rent from the videostore
It’s so much fun especially with the multiplayer!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has played the greatness of Chiki Chiki Boys lol.
Man I never even heard of these games outside of Wily Wars which I gotta admit is pretty cool to see MM on a Sega console! Great list 00Serg!
You gotta get Chiki Chiki Boys! That game is so good.
Great video Serg!!! Noting some of these games cause I love discovering new games to get into
Thanks bro! I hope you enjoy some of the games.

Excellent video serg! And dashing desperados can kiss my ass 😂 to each his own otherwise great amazing choices!
Thanks a lot bro!
Even to this day im still amazed the James Pond series never got in any legal trouble (at least as far as i know).
Me too honestly lol.
Beautiful list man! OutRun is such a classic, I swear I have these vivid memories from childhood playing OutRun with one of my cousins at their house. It probably happened!
Thank you brother Outrun is indeed a fun time!
The Lada Raven is sort of like the Outrun 2019 car :D
I just looked it up and I can definitely see the similarities!
Just bought all the James pond 1 - 3 today lol
Very nice!! You gotta let me know how James Pond 2 & 3 are!
@@_Sergmanx_James pond 2 was fantastic. Never played jp3.

Heyo Serg, lets go!

Chiki chiki boys is indeed a wonderful game
Definitely! It’s such a unknown classic!
James pond 2 was also great
I need to play that one at some point.
A great video as always
Thank you!!!
Thanks
Bro i remember James Pond having a terrible DS game called Robocod 😅😅 awful but unique i guess.
LOL! Oh geez that doesn’t sound good. I’ve only ever played the first game.
its a bootleg os spin master xD
The art style in Dashing Desperado’s look extremely similar to Spin Master lol.
spelled genesis wrong in the title.
Whoops lol. Thanks for the heads up.
