Great video! From what I understand, high brake and low brake both do the exact same thing: use the motor to slow down. I think the difference is just how it's activated, from either a high (+) signal or low (ground) signal. I think you just get to choose which signal you pick. I could be wrong, but that's how I've understood it when looking into e-bike stuff!
Thanks for sharing! I actually based that part of the video off of answers i got from asking the question in a facebook group. I suspect that i'll find out what's *really* going on during my bench test and/or ride test, and will be sure to post a video with my best explanation of the results after i've got them :)
I came across a youtube video on this very topic. Basically, the "high" signal will also power your brake light as well. th-cam.com/video/zgJAY_0xSTM/w-d-xo.html
😅 not yet. I've still got about 2 $2k worth of new parts in boxes waiting for me to find the time and motivation to figure it out. I did build an electric gokart last year as a sort of skill building project....so I feel like I understand it a little better. Hopefully I can make time for it this summer!
I haven't made much progress.... partially because I've been pretty busy, but also I've been pretty worried that I'll screw up the next part. One of the things I did recently that I haven't made a video about - I built an electric go kart. Was super helpful for understanding the electrical layout and drive train. Hopefully I'll have more time to work on it this summer!

everything on my dash works and lights up, however my highbems blue light don’t show up and my headlights aren’t working are i just replaced them what to do?
Id start by checking everything on the 12 v side. Are you getting 12 from the DC DC converter? Is there 12 v at the fuse box? Basically just need to trace out where the signal falls off, and that should point to the problem
The always "running stick figure" is a nice touch!
Thanks 😄
