  • Since I left you hanging last week, let's find out if the Mustang starts and how much work it will take if it doesn't. We have lots of new parts to put on so let's get this build looking like a car again.

I love your builds, but they are cringeworthy. You do all this great body and paint work, only to bolt filthy accessories back into a pristine engine bay. For someone who relys on algorhythms, I am sure I'm not the only one who bails after seeing the dirty components going back into a build. 2 minutes of scrubbing a part would go a long way.

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

If you hadn’t bailed, you might learn something. Such as people cleaning every part before installation on TH-cam are not rebuilders, they are content creators. So 2 minutes of cleaning for 100 parts equals over 3 hours wasted. I’m not building show cars, I’m not making money on TH-cam so it means the time is WASTED. It will all be cleaned later. So since you don’t like how I do it, move on and watch someone that is making what you like. Or better yet… make it yourself!

I don’t need to tell you the horror stories that I’ve seen as I’m sure you’ve also seen them and then some. But the work you do is absolutely fantastic and it’s great to see someone do such a professional job. Kudos to you. Can’t wait for the next installment. Happy thanksgiving!

Great job, my first brand new car was a 1984 Mustang GT that I ordered with every single option available, it was a real accomplishment in my early twenties. It had one flaw from the factory, they missed some seam sealer and water ruined my carpet so the fender came off, they did what you did (your job was better) and put new carpet in. This video brought back lots of memories. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

Quite interesting, a guy I follow on TH-cam, a Brit, did his apprenticeship at Rolls Royce as a mechanic. They weren't allowed to use a torque wrench when assembling for instance an engine, they had to rely on feel, which is what you do most of the time. When you are in a trade, you develop a feel for what you're doing. Thanks for your honesty and openness with which you do your work, with a lot of humor.

My son hit a deer not long ago with his 91 GT and we ended up buying three different brand bumper covers before we got one that halfway fit. There was over an inch variation in width between the three. Interestingly enough, the worst fitting of the three came from LMR. Go figure...

I bought a steering knuckle from Dorman; never again.
Pinch bolt didn't line up. The inner hub seal didnt fit well out of two new seals, bearing sleeve fought the whole way during the press(badly), even after I Emory clothed it more smooth than it came, AND I Greased it.
Before you say user error, I did the drivers side with the original O.E knuckle with 300k on it, absolute zero issues.
I just snapped the pinch bolt off on the passenger side, shoulda dug it out; because the damn Dorman was broke out the box.

Many years ago I worked in the tool department at Sears. One Black Friday I was on the register ringing up the $10.00 wrench sets and making 1% commission. A lady with a German accent asked me for some help. She was looking for a metric crescent wrench. I thought she wanted a set of metric wrenches and took her to the display. She said, “No, my son-in-law said he wanted metric crescent wrenches.” I convinced her there are no metric crescent wrenches and showed her how they were used. I don’t know if he sent her on a wild goose chase or not, but she left with a nice set of metric wrenches. My co-workers got a good laugh, too.

Those 5-liter motors had surprisingly low HP by today's standards at 225 but made up for it in torque at 300. I had a 1995 GT and a 1989 GT, carbureted and fuel injected (respectively). They were both fast in the day, yet I know own (since brand new) a 2006 Mini Cooper S with a highly modified 1.6-liter engine with 324 WHP running on E85. How times have changed.

    Great Job.
Happy thanksgiving to you & your entire family.
I understand deeply your desire to save money.....
I'm old.... I'm trying to transition into letting a decent Mechanic/Technician do the work.....
    It's not working....
I'm leaking power steering fluid in the Escalade.... Okay.... Take it in. $1200 bucks to replace lines & the pump.... I tell them okay....
I get it back... Still leaking... Now they tell me, you need a steering rack... $2100 bucks... so I was like, fine, give me the truck back.
I got the part for $310 bucks.... Put it in... took awhile, I am not a pro like you.... And working on the ground like a caveman, is a challenge.....
But, it's in, and there are no leaks, and everything is fine.... So I just saved $1700-some odd bucks.... Which I need to do....
You know who I'm talking about... The TH-cam Superpros who will tell you "find a good mechanic in your area...." Uhhh, I'd love to. Seriously, I would... I don't know how to do that.... You need to get (censored) ten times, and eliminate the "not good" mechanics..... It's pointless. I may as well buy an Acura or a Lexus, and just drive it.... By the time it matters, I'll be in a nursing home.....
Anyways, well done. I enjoy your videos. Sorry for the rant....

Hey Scott, I am not a body and paint guy so I have a question. Is there a lot more work, sanding and preparing the paintable parts black? Is there a lot a sanding and polishing after the paint job? You have had other video series with vehicles painted black and they look great. Thanks
