- This video showcases how to capture a shiny Mew in Japanese Pokemon Emerald. This is the only game where it's even possible to get one that's transferrable to the modern games.
We'll be making the 1/8192 encounter rate a lot easier by manipulating the RNG in this game. Also, this guide assumes you already have the Old Sea Map event activated in your game.

Some points:
1) I'm bad at explaining things.
2) As the description says, this guide assumes you have the Old Sea Map event in your game. How you get it makes no difference to me.
3) This works on the real cartridge of Japanese Pokemon Emerald as well as in an emulator.
4) I'm using Japanese Emerald because that's where this event/Mew was accessible by normal means in 2005. The event data does exist in the American release, but was never officially released by Nintendo.
5) This Mew is perfectly legal, but if you hacked an Old Sea Map into your game, then I guess the Mew *technically* isn't legitimate, but who really cares.
Hey Travis I was planning to actually shiny hunt mew on a Japanese pokemon emerald aswell as you but I can't find any cheat of any sorts to get there. Any help is appreciated

@@tuco6525 thanks it's been over an year but I used a event injector on my save file and it worked
I got a Shiny Mew on a copy of Pokemon Emerald.
I used a GameShark to get me the Old Sea Map and used this trick to get it Shiny.

In emulator's options, you can choose Emulation/Pause and next frame if you want a specific frame.
Thank you!! Really wanted to RNG shiny Mew since I used the Pomeg Berry glitch to glitch the Old Sea Map in my game.
I spent couple days to get a shiny, finally got one last night (Wurmple), figured out its IV's and then gained 2 possible sets of SiD's for my Emerald.
2 hours straight of wrapping my head around how these applications work and I finally hit my target frame... on the wrong SiD :( but since I got the hang of things I got the target frame on the second SiD (the correct one) within 15 mins! :D Yaaaay! Thanks again for this video.

I subbed to your channel can you make more video on Mew and legal pokemon because this Mew is legal until it can get an Home Tracker if PKHome won't accept it then you'll never be able to transfer it. Nice vid, but since you are using an emulator, you could have made your life 20 times easier by just using Lua Scripts to show you the stats of the wild pokemon, frames, TID/SID, PID, Nature etc. As well as the manual frame advances with ctrl + N, when the game is paused. Also, Pokefinder is more up to date than RNG reporter for gen 3/4, gen 5 support is halfway there.
Question about something I never really understood about RNG manipulation: If you're already using PKHex to find your SID, and you can find your Mew's target spread (Nature, Ability, IVs, characteristics, etc.) via PokeFinder, what's stopping you from just capturing the Mew, and then editing in PKHex to match the desired spread? Wouldn't that result in the exact same Mew as if you had RNG'd it?
I was able to RNG Manip a shiny Sudowoodo in Colosseum last autumn/winter, and I find the method 100% legitimate, but I found myself wondering if it would just have been quicker to edit the desired Sudo since I was already using PKHex to find my SID.

I mean its kinda hard from across the world lol. I have shiny Mew that i hunted in Emerald. I got there through action replay but the Shiny itself is 100% legit. I can clone it in Emerald if you want one but i don't know how i would send it to you.

is there a delay for mews cry after pressing A, i spent 2 hours with mew and i can never hit the shiny frame, but with sweet scent i hit the shiny within 5 minutes
Is there a guide on how to use sweet scent to find shiny?
