It's a good point about the skin colours. I personally don't really notice much of a difference shooting mirrorless Canon and Sony raw side by side but a lot of my wedding and portrait friends still shooting on 5DMIII or MIV and wanting to get into mirrorless will steer clear of Sony just based on the stereotype that Sony has bad skin tones. I am sure Sony knows they have this reputation so maybe they are addressing the elephant in the room up-front already idk.
As a hybrid Canon shooter that hasn’t made the switch, this camera makes it hard AF not to switch. Color science ✅, touch screen✅, better menu✅, lenses that don’t weigh 3 lbs✅, way better low light✅, doesn’t fucking over heat on long form interviews✅, no recording cap, no wide angle wobble✅, lens breathing compensation✅, way better IBS, 3 party lenses✅ and insane fucking value at $2500✅. My camera store has it and for some reason can’t give it to me until the 23rd. I’m going to play around with it for a month or two before making my final decision.

Currently a Director I’ve been working with prefers Red. I no longer care about fanboying over any company. Hell, I have an assistant that shoots video with her Nikon Z6 that looks really good.

Yes! Every new camera is PRAISED like gold. If one want honest review of camera, than he needs to wait for the next "mark" number. Than they say everything honestly for previous and praise new one. Indeed these cameras are in progress. They are never finished, it's marketing trick. Always lacking a bit, so you are somehow happy for improvements, but instantly want more and eagerly wait for new model. In all this "never ending improvements" one might ask himself how we were able to take a picture 10 years ago, let alone 20. New AF grabs birds eye when I just think I will go shooting today. Or backwards: old model than could not focus for the sake of life ... in real differences are mostly much less obvious. Only two things are marketed similar to cameras: iPhones and washing powders/detergents. One need to skip 10 years to really see a difference - and a lot of times, one slight improvement means the price of loosing other features (huh Apple?).
I want a box style camera similar to the Hasselblad v system but with an actual affordable price tag. I shoot mostly film, and in that mostly with a Mamiya RB67 Pro SD, 645 Pro TL, C330, and C220. I did shoot with a Pentax 67 until I kitted out the 645 Pro TL. I tested out a Fuji X-Pro 3 and loved the rear display concept, but I ended up saving money after getting a like-new X-T30 for 600 USD and got a couple lenses instead. The colors are great fun, I just miss the formfactor and waist-level viewfinder of a box style camera. I'd be fine with any brand, just preferably with a sensor and price tag that wouldn't buy my entire film kit multiple times over.
3:41 remember when sony gave firmware updates improving AF for free, after you bought the product. now they updated their policy, to only get updates when spending the initial $4 - 8000

Now in 2021 the entry level full frame mirrorless a7 IV costs 2500$ (2800€ with vat) and weights 658g with battery. The Sony a7 IV is of course more powerful but significantly heavier and much more expensive. I think there is something wrong with Sony strategy.
you know, there is an external factor that is outside Sony control such as inflation and chip supply as well. Another new product I know has bumped their price as well. Even electric guitar has a price hike and they don't have any chip inside em!
There's nothing wrong with a changing market, increased wages, inflation, supply/demand etc. If you choose to live in a capitalistic market you can't complain about prices. Everyone wishes gas, and milk went back to olden day prices but we can't live in the past yo

17:36: thats not CPU limitation, but sensor. 4k60 readout is done by the sensor, the CPU doesn't get the full 14bit picture 60x a second, so the sensor needs to prepare the data.
It seems it focuses like old Pentax K3ii with FA70-200. Yeah, good work Sony. (I compared A72 with K5ii and Sony focuses like K5ii on LiveView - it was shock to me. A73 was better, compared to K3ii in LiveView - so I guess this 40% better AF, as Tony said, finaly matches K3ii in VF mode. I do not have K3iii to compare, though - but as you two once said in K5 video - Pentax just isn't cool for most people - lack marketing).

10fps is plenty for what people need, if your a pro motorsports photographer which need more burst rate, they will have ever a A9/A9ii or the A1. I shoot motorsports and never use burst rate, I just pick my shots.
Can I please get your opinion on something? I've seen so many people rave about how amazing the Sony G master 24mm wide angle lens is, but I don't recall seeing anyone talk about the G master 35mm. And I have a feeling a 35mm is going to work better for my needs. I just got my A7IV and want to get a really good lens, but it's going to be my only really good lens for the time being so I want to make sure it's going to be versatile enough for what I need. I get occasional paid gigs doing birthday parties, family photos, etc. but I don't go searching for jobs so it's pretty rare. My main need is to start filming music videos for my own music. Can I get away with using the 24mm to do all my performance shots and b roll for rap music videos? Or am I right that a 35mm would do way better? And have you heard anything on the 35mm G master? It's just as expensive as the 24mm, so I'm hoping it is just as good. Thanks!
