Adventure was the first ever video game to have a hidden easter egg, thats what is on the mini build. Its referenced in the film Ready Player One also.
It wasn't the first *ever*, but the first widely known and executed one, as well as the source of the term "Easter Egg", which had not been used previously.
@@thepopculturebuff5080 The 'dot' is not near the start of the game. It's located in a inaccessible part of the Catacombs, within the Black Castle. ;) YEs, pick it up and carry it back to the Hallway underneath and to the Left of the Yellow Castle and.. you can then pass through the solid wall and yes, there is the message. ;)
Having played with this console back in the 80''s, I'm impressed with the realism of this build. The movement of the switches and joystick are next-level. Almost every aspect of the build is really cool. The hidden scene inside the console is cool but I think it would have more appeal as a side build similar to the three builds related to each game cartridge. As a display piece, this would be a great set to build and own.
It’s just awesome the realism of Lego these days. Not an Atari fan so it’s not for me, but looks so good. From across the room you’d think it’s the real thing. Love the little scene inside the console. Like you’d said Bricksie, would love an Nintendo 64 console!
I had one when it came out. The original atari carts you didn't need to blow on because they had a unique protective dust cover that the unit socket pushed out of the way when inserted!
As someone who grew up playing the Atari VCS and LEGO, I have to say this looks flawless. I cannot imagine a better LEGO version of the VCS than this. So, much kudos to the designer of this set. And it appears you can customize the pop-up diorama -- for example, using the pieces from the game scenes, to make a pop-up dio of Adventure, Asteroids or Centipede.
I feel like when this hits the market, there is probably an old technology hobbyist out there who could but the electronic guts of an atari into this lego set and convert it to a working atari! How cool would that be?
Great review @Bricksie it looks like a really interesting build and I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's not a set for me but I'm sure there will be many who will have flashbacks to their childhood building this set.
On the back of the Castle! The thing you didn't know what it was: It is supposed to be the Easter Egg, Adventure had the First Ever in Game Easter Egg. When you found it You would see the words on screen Created by: Warren Robinette. Dang Dude I would have thought you would have seen the movie Ready Player One.
That Egg on "Adventure" is proof of the love of Legos designers. Only people rooted in gaming culture would know and put that little "nod" to Warren Robinett there. And of course... It's hidden. ❤
The joystick cover use to slide off of my system as a kid. When you pulled it off to show the rubber washers, reminded me of that happening all the time. Owned all 3 of those games and played them like crazy till the Nintendo came out.
Being born in 2010 I never had the chance to play Atari but my uncle has this retro mini super Nintendo and he lends it to me and my brother every summer and my favourite game on that is Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter and my brother's favourites are super Mario world and Yoshi's Island
Was good ceeing U first to build it ..I never had one of them systems my salf but played a few in 80 s ..as I'm a 70 s kid ..lol blowing into the cartridge yes🤏 😊💪 love the build ..great revoue J.....
My friend built this a few months back. He recently got me into building with Legos, and I have built a few sets already. I built a small German house, an orchid, a Lamborghini, a London bus, and a London skyline set. All were very fun to build.
born in 2003, but i have three atari 2600s from my mom, two of them still functioning, as well as an atari flashback (forget which flashback version). i'm not a huge retro games person, but they are fascinating to play as a part of video game history. i ordered ths set as soon as i found out about it.
You know what would be cool? If atari collaborated with Lego, and put an emulator inside of it. I could imagine that the chip size wouldn’t be massive AT ALL. 🤔. But how would they make the controller compatible? Lego can make a moving BUGHATTI. It can be done!!!
I spent loads of time playing the 2600 before I was able to grab an NES. They absolutely nailed the design of this one and this console theme is starting to become my favorite. An N64 console build would probably be my all-time favorite Lego build. Please, Lego, make it happen!
8:34 Johnny thunder did come out untill q few years after the atari, so in that poster he represents Indiana Jones, which Johnny thunder is based off of
I'm hoping either Lego or an ambitious custom builder will create a dial controller set and the cartridge for Combat, the game that came with the Atari 2600 console back when we bought ours in the 80s.
Yeah I think that's the new Galaxy Explorer. And if you look inside the cockpit of the new Galaxy Explorer, one of the control panel displays shows asteroids.
Actually you would use ipa or canned air to clean a cartridge not blowing in it that moisture from your breath overtime damages the cartridge by rusting the pins that connect the cartridge to the console
FYI yu have the joystick plugged into controller port 2. I had this console growing up when I was a kid. I still have a 6 switch version connected to a TV right now. I'll be 100% getting this set.
That is a very cool set… I grew up in the 80s and had one. I had about 40 games for it also. Another ironic thing is is that the real life Atari cost almost the same as the lego set in 1981. It was around 275$
Hey Jordan I absolutely love this set and will definitely be getting it, as a child of the 70s/80s it really brings back great memories and the accuracy of the design is superb, from a bit of a distance away anyone who remembers the Atari would just think it's a real one, especially the joystick. Great review and great build
To address your comments on why we'd be interested if we've never played Atari, for me personally it's the retro aspect, as well as my love of old gaming consoles that makes me want this set. Also the book Ready Player One.
I actually sold that small Johnny Thunder set a couple of years back! Now i kinda regret doing that! 😅 the controller might convince me on this set. Looks great overall, but I never played any Ataris.
7:39 One '80s reference that was overlooked are the plastic boxes inside of the cabinet, under the boombox and VHS cassette. Those plastic colored boxes appear to be storage boxes that hold multiple 5.25" floppy disks, the most popular way to store/transport floppy disks in those days. I still own many myself.
Seriously, now I want to see this crossover go the other direction: Atari should release LEGO'ed versions of Adventure, Asteroids and Centipede that look and sound like they're made of LEGO pieces. Like how there are LEGO Star Wars video games, I want a LEGO Atari game collection.
I expected that they would integrate an emulator inside which I think would have upgraded the whole experience or at least there would be a preparation so that we could put an emulator ourselves and then it would also be possible to play games. Maybe they will release an upgrade kit later - I'm sure people will already do it themselves.
That was my thoughts too! I suppose a raspberrypi or something could be installed in the console, the joystick would need some serious soldering skills to bring to life though!
I think they missed the boat some here. If they could have made it so old cartridges worked on it and also the joysticks worked on it, and the ability buy a joystick and old classic cartridges, they could have turned this into a Holiday hit this year.
I could see someone savvy hacking it to do something similar. Maybe not accepting cartridges, but putting a Raspberry Pi inside it with an Atari emulator
"If you were born during the age of when the Atari came out and you never played an Atari" Do any 70/80s kids exist that never played this? I think not Not only did we all play the Atari, many of us actually went out and rented games from the local video store lol Atari 2600 and the Galaxy Flyer all in the same year - my God! Its Christmas '80 all over again - booyah!
Hi, I’m just wondering, is there a way to buy lego promotional sets if you don’t wanna spend the price threshold to get it at lego? Is there a good place that has fair prices?
Too bad I don't have room for it. I wanted to get the Sonic set as well, but again, no place for it. No longer have my 2600 but this is a great representation of one.
I wonder why then didn't do the original 2600 instead of the 1980 version? Maybe they didn't want to replicate Combat which was the free game that came packed with the original.....LOL
I am from the age, and love it. But it's pricepoint is just way too high. I might source the parts just for the inside build. It's a shame it's hidden in there. The inside of the lego NES is far more of an easter egg, this inside should be on display.
Adventure was the first ever video game to have a hidden easter egg, thats what is on the mini build. Its referenced in the film Ready Player One also.
Yep. You find the invisible dot near the start of the game, take the dot to the actual start, and you’ll find “Created by Warren Robinnet”
I remember it from the book, it was just a big thing, only reason I really know of Adventure
It wasn't the first *ever*, but the first widely known and executed one, as well as the source of the term "Easter Egg", which had not been used previously.
The book is better
@@thepopculturebuff5080 The 'dot' is not near the start of the game. Love that the switches work correctly, with two being a / b and two being pull down toggles.
I had one when it came out. The original atari carts you didn't need to blow on because they had a unique protective dust cover that the unit socket pushed out of the way when inserted!

Looking forward to this one. We had the Atari 2600 when I was a kid (yup, old enough to remember when it came out).
I found my dad's old atari a few months ago, and we hooked it up to our 75 inch TV, and the resolution is totally fantastic!
Please tell us how you would hook-up those vintage game systems to our new smart-tv’s.
I got an original Atari 2600 for $40 with the original box… the paddles had never even been used! So cool! 🙂👍🏻
I still have a a working Atari 2600 with 30 games. I still remember when I got one in 1978 for Christmas!
I feel like when this hits the market, there is probably an old technology hobbyist out there who could but the electronic guts of an atari into this lego set and convert it to a working atari! How cool would that be?
That would be sick
Yeah I expect we'll see someone put the board from a VCS into this, soon after this LEGO set is released.
I put my emulator in it.
Tbh It's so easy to put a console on a chip in there and have this working I'm surprised LEGO didn't just do it
Absolutely insane set definitely worth the purchase
Not if you can’t play it once it’s built lol

i was born in the 2000s and im getting this to go along with the nes
That looks even better Built! I used to play an Atari just like that my stepmom had. Now I want it even more!
This was my first console. I was 5 in ‘77 and my mom’s youngest brother helped me hook it up to a B/W tv. I had Defender as a side cart. Thanks Mom
I was born in 2000, and I loved playing my dad's Atari. If I can spare the money, I'll definitely be getting this
Same! A year after you, but same! I just snagged one for basically $100 off at LEGO before the set retires, FYI if you haven’t pulled the trigger!
Can't wait to buy and build it. Plan on putting it beside my Atari for comparison
That Egg on "Adventure" is proof of the love of Legos designers. Only people rooted in gaming culture would know and put that little "nod" to Warren Robinett there. And of course... It's hidden. ❤

Video games and Legos have evolved so much since those times. Just blows my Mind.
What was your fav game on the Atari 2600
Pitfall!
Being born in 2010 I never had the chance to play Atari but my uncle has this retro mini super Nintendo and he lends it to me and my brother every summer and my favourite game on that is Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter and my brother's favourites are super Mario world and Yoshi's Island
So sad this woulda been $200 if inflation never happened :((((((
I hope you read this in time, but I came from the Lego website to this video. And it's 20% off so it's $191 at the moment.
born in 2006. never played an atari, but i love the retro aesthetic. i want it.
Was good ceeing U first to build it ..I never had one of them systems my salf but played a few in 80 s ..as I'm a 70 s kid ..lol blowing into the cartridge yes🤏 😊💪 love the build ..great revoue J.....

We were just playing Atari with our kids, 12 & 9. So excited
Nice video…I just got this set and can’t wait to build it….I’m an 80’s child! 👍🏾
Just finished building mine. So enjoyable
Grew up in early 2000s but I had an atari and I loved it! Had many hours on it, such a fun console this lego set does it justice so cool!
You know what would be cool? If atari collaborated with Lego, and put an emulator inside of it. I could imagine that the chip size wouldn’t be massive AT ALL.
🤔. But how would they make the controller compatible?
Lego can make a moving BUGHATTI. It can be done!!!
Omg so many fun memories playing Atari back in the 80’s

I'm not that attached to atari either (2003 gang) but as soon as they revealed, I nearly lost my mind. I thought it looked so cool.
Great video btw 👍
There could have been one more controller used in the game for Breakout. They used a dial controller instead of the joystick.
I'm hoping either Lego or an ambitious custom builder will create a dial controller set and the cartridge for Combat, the game that came with the Atari 2600 console back when we bought ours in the 80s.
Brings back memories when I own one😍😍
Absolutely fantastic. I can imagine people making more cartridges for it, and even making it work.
Great set. Played Atari when I was younger. Was a lot of fun. Loved the video.
The space ship on the asteroids cartridge looks like tiny version of the new 90 years of play space ship
Yeah I think that's the new Galaxy Explorer. And if you look inside the cockpit of the new Galaxy Explorer, one of the control panel displays shows asteroids.
I grew up on Atari 2600. Love Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Galaga and Asteroids. Hope to get this set this year
Out of all of the sets in my collection, this is by far my favorite, even beating out the afterlife ecto-1!
Wow I didn’t see this set coming. I’m a gaming nerd and would say this set is for everyone who loves video games.
Wish they did this with the Nintendo, would love to have three games, a game shelf and Mini builds
This Lego looks great
These consoles are really cool! They gave us Sonic the hedgehog, now we need the Sega Genesis console!
I got this set for Christmas and I love it
Missed an easter egg opportunity to make this a 2600-piece set
This set is so nice. Will be getting it.
awesome video jordan the set looks amazing
I was born in 2004 and I know what an Atari is
How cool it would be if they put a chip set in it to work on tv🔥
Actually you would use ipa or canned air to clean a cartridge not blowing in it that moisture from your breath overtime damages the cartridge by rusting the pins that connect the cartridge to the console
I remember Johnny Thunder ! , My gosh! That takes me way back to a toddler , Geez , gotta get this set
i have two original atari 2600 so this is a must for me
FYI yu have the joystick plugged into controller port 2. I had this console growing up when I was a kid. I still have a 6 switch version connected to a TV right now. I'll be 100% getting this set.
Its oddly satisfying that the cartridges make the same noise when you blow in them
That is a very cool set… I grew up in the 80s and had one. I had about 40 games for it also. Another ironic thing is is that the real life Atari cost almost the same as the lego set in 1981. It was around 275$
I think putting like a rasberry pi in it would be really cool and could function as a display piece and be functional
Hey Jordan I absolutely love this set and will definitely be getting it, as a child of the 70s/80s it really brings back great memories and the accuracy of the design is superb, from a bit of a distance away anyone who remembers the Atari would just think it's a real one, especially the joystick. I have the 6-switcher but nonetheless, this is a great set. Definitely have to pick this up!
Love this lego!
Love how the NES cartridge slot works better than the official NES, and now the lego atari joystick moves more fluid than the official atari.
As a kid, I built Atari and NES cartridge holders out of spare lego, so the included cartridge holder here is bringing everything full circle!
This is pretty much a 40 plus lego set. Cause you really need to be over 40 to remember playing one.
Tbh you can probably strip one of those newer Atari emulators and try to fit the electronics in the lego kit.
Thank you for the video.
I'm really happy they built this to scale. The NES was nice but it should've been done to scale as well.
To address your comments on why we'd be interested if we've never played Atari, for me personally it's the retro aspect, as well as my love of old gaming consoles that makes me want this set. Also the book Ready Player One.
OK, This is COOL!
I’m not a fan of Atari but I do like gaming consoles and I suspect LEGO to make more old consoles and I’ll want them all
I remember getting my Atari in 1977 I was 7 years old
I actually sold that small Johnny Thunder set a couple of years back! Now i kinda regret doing that! 😅 the controller might convince me on this set. Looks great overall, but I never played any Ataris.
So cool build🤩👍🔥👑 Next I hope is gonna be PlayStation 1 or PlayStation 2 in LEGO. That would be awesome🤞🤞🤞
Does it include the bricks to build the cartridge and the mini build at the same time?
Everything looks Amazing!! Most definitely will be buying this on release day. Thanks for the review. How can I buy this set and help the channel out?

If only they'd do a Texas Instruments TI99/4a! Yeah I know never going to happen but my god that'd be amazing!
Born in 1978, played Atari in the 1980s 😂and original nintendo as well.
Tempted to buy that set just to stack up on black tiles! haha
They have to make a set like this for the Playstation 1. That would be so good.
Awesome !!!!
The red button absolutely should press.

I wonder why then didn't do the original 2600 instead of the 1980 version? Maybe they didn't want to replicate Combat which was the free game that came packed with the original.....LOL
not only that they are doing false advertisement on it, on their website they are describing it as working as if it was a real console
They really should have made that dragon like in the actual game. The way it is, it looks like a snake
I thought the same thing
The mini figure kind of looks like kelso from That 70s Show!
I am from the age, and love it. But it's pricepoint is just way too high. I might source the parts just for the inside build. It's a shame it's hidden in there. The inside of the lego NES is far more of an easter egg, this inside should be on display.
