Thankyou so much, I'm really pleased you like the build, and to say its in your top 3 of all time, WOW! :-)
You did an amazing job, congrats on this massive achievement! I love it!
Great Lego set, well done
You and the LEGO designers who worked with you on this must be very proud, and justifiably so. Nicely done!
Good job :)
Wow... The designer. You did a very special set here.
This set is more Technic than 90 per cent of Technic product line.
I agree 100%, and that is the reason why I did not really enjoy this build.
@@James-mi1mk Why didn't you enjoy it? it would be better to have more than less...
Ikr I love Lego technic. The more the merrier

I love the sound it makes. That was a thing that would either make or break this set for me. If it didn't have the clicking of the keys and the sliding noise I wouldn't feel it's worth it so I'm very happy to hear it has those features. I'm sure the haptic feedback must be spot on aswell.
You mean the sound of plastic on plastic? Yeah, man, _great_ noise.
@@UnitSe7en oh who hurt you man
@@UnitSe7en Why are you even here if you don't like the build or the product? Just to talk shit on people who do? We like plastic sounds. Get over it.😂
@@mikeyyg2000 Great necro, dude. 2 years old. I like lego. I like the way the set looked and I wanted to see how it works and what it does. My comment was directly related to the OP's assertion about the noise and has nothing at all to do with my appreciation of the set. Now, was the necro post worth it? Just to put your pithy pseudo-intellectial attitude on display for everyone? Well done, you. Take that one to the bank.
@@UnitSe7en lol, you seriously think people read the dates on comments.
YES! So much of the fun in building this set is seeing how exactly the mechanism works and testing it as you go along and assemble it. Thank you for saying this, since so many of the other “Brick-tubers” I’ve watched have been focusing more on the aesthetics and keys and less on the actual build. I’ve also heard others gripe about the build being repetitive, but that’s only the case for the first part of the build for the keys. After that, you’re building the main part of the body, the different mechanism components, and the carriage. And those, to me at least, were very satisfying and not repetitive or boring at all.
Ha. Lol. You want repetitive?
Empire State Building..
How hard is it to build ? For someone with no experience ?
@@RicardoOliveira-nv5dr Not really hard, in my own opinion. There are just a lot of repeating steps for pieces of the mechanism and the keys. But once you’ve done the slightly more tedious parts, the assembly of the mechanism and the body of the typewriter is so much fun.
@TeamgeistLet people do what they want with their money the joy of lego sets is building them then seeing the the final result and how it works.
@@teamgeist3328Actually dying of laughter over you thinking real typewriters are less expensive than this LEGO set. As someone who collects typewriters and uses them, trust me. They're not (at least not anymore). Especially if you want some of the more desirable or best quality machines.
Also, why do you care so much about what people spend money on? I'm willing to be assumptious and bet you've spent a lot of money on things that aren't necessities or very practical over the course of your life.
I am in the middle of the build. And must say that I never had a better repetitive build. The joy of putting bag two together is wonderful to see it all combine

I love all of them

#1 4999 Vestas Turbine
#2 10234 sydney opera house
#3 lucky number is so maybe this set will replace #1....71374 *NES* waiting to be built..
Thank you for showing how to put the letter into the typewriter! I couldn’t quite figure it out and had decided to display the set without the letter, but now it is completely complete!
Glad I could help!
completely complete 😂 nah glad you like the set, i might buy it
Fun fact: the return key on Apple computers refers to the key on a typewriter to return the "carriage" back to the left after it has travelled all the way to the right.
The carriage return key also advances everything up, one line... and you don't need to wait until the carriage is all the way at the right margin to press it. Whenever you're done with a line is fine.
2:48 this is actually a simplified version of an escapement, the same mechanism used in clocks and watches.
Yup! I got part way through the build and had a really enjoyable moment of "what the heck am I buil....waaaaait a minute!"
I'm now convinced someone with a much larger collection than me, and much more patience, could build a fully mechanical lego clock, or at least a mechanical clock where the "mainspring" is replaced by a drive motor
alright, imma say it, one of my fav lego ideas builds, i will always love star wars, city, ninjago, and technic, but this is another level of mechanical and engineering precision, ggs lego, ggs
4:19 "4 of the newer 1x5 plates"
*Confused screaming*
Illegal
If they can make x3 plates they can make x5 plates.
Looks like a great build. One thing that would have added to it would be a cover for the keys. My Grandpa's old typewriter had a cover held by a couple latches. It looks like the forward facing studs above the top row of keys would have served that purpose.
On the other hand, I doubt anyone would display the piece with the cover in place anyways.
I’m halfway through my Lego typewriter build at the moment and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. It’s my first lego purchase as an adult, with the exception of a small grave digger monster truck I built for my son. It was a bit hard to justify the $199.00 but what sold it was that my wife, who’s not into legos or anything toy/game related, approved of the purchase simply because it would display well in our home office. The green color compliments the brass decor and green succulent plants we already have on display. It’s something that guests will surely be intrigued with while they wonder around our home. Very happy
Currently building it! Just finished the first three bags and i still have no idea how someone came up with the internal mechanisms of this set. Its brilliant and definitely the most fun and challenging build ive had! 😀
100% agree!! I bought this without watching any video reviews and I really enjoyed the step by step discovery of just how far the functionality went. That being said, love your video and glad to find others nerding out about this kit (my favourite too!)
I watched this video a while back. I wanted to have one for a while. It was just given to me for Christmas and it’s been one of my favorite builds of all time! It works perfectly!
I’m a keyboard guy and I love the sound of the typing it’s like smooth loud but not too much it is just satisfying and it looks amazing
I love how Lego used the bowl brick to simulate the handle.
oh my god. . . its a god forsaken fidget machine, i thought i could use it to write a drama series
It is quite nice to see the letters printed. I was hoping they would go with prints, but I worried that they might just want the builder to place all those circle just in the right posiotion and angle.
This was a great and amazing set ngl! From the design to the mechanisms and functionalities, it was pretty awesome to have this set. My friends loved it so much!
This right here is why I tend to like building Lego Technic type sets so much, putting it together and getting to see how the mechanism works is so neat to me, that and finishing it and knowing I did it right is so satisfying.
As a TECHNIC builder, this look phenomenal!
Towards the ends of your reviews of these larger sets, could you please compare them size-wise against a few other large sets?
That would quite help.
I got this set before July 1st because I had VIP and I am so grateful, at the lego store near me it's sold out at the moment. This is the biggest lego set I have and my favorite. I definitely recommend buying.
That's awesome!
After getting married, I have been buying one lego set for us to build together on Christmas day. It has been the best memories of our end of the year as we are living abroad and far from our families. This year I want to get this one.
Thank you for the review. I like your style, nice, easy to understand and straight to the point! Video is of a great length, that doesn't make you feel bored! Keep it up!
Will do sir, thank you for the feedback!
I started this build and when I was almost done stacking up the key arms I noticed some were sticking so I decided to take it apart and redo that section of the build.
The key here (get it) is to not make the key arms too tight and just stack the spacers and lockers deep enough for the arms to move freely. I have no idea how long they will have this one into production but it was out of stock on the lego store so I had to get one from Amazon which was the same price. It is a mind blowing set.
Had the same problem 😅
But has been a great build (so far) and I just love the mechanics. Made me fall in love with Lego once again!
I can see why this moved toward the top of your list. The typewriter will be a display piece in my office at some point.
I LOVE THIS!!! I think the only possible way to improve this would be somehow making different type bars flip up when different bits are pressed
YES. I love that there are so many colours and that you get a piece of paper signed by someone from the family of legos creator
So unique in color and design, absolutely love it :)
Just got this for my 14th birthday and I’m going to explode from anticipation after watching this video. Can’t wait to start :)
When you return the carriage, you use the lever/bar, because that extra action also moves the paper up one line, as well as moving the carriage to the right..
Yes in a real machine! But not in this case as it breaks :)
@@TiagoCatarino Aah, okay, thanks.
Boyfriend bought it for me for Christmas. I put it together in about 5 hours over 3 days. So fun!! Love that it makes the real sound!
God I love this man and his LEGO content. It's so satisfying and wholesome.
I'm getting mine tomorrow so excited!
Lego evolved so much with all these mechanisms and from a Lambo and Bugatti to an actual real kind of working typewriter with all the new pieces and colors and Lego is the best educational and fun way to bring up Enginners and Creative people of the world
oh my gawd - not so many lego sets go beyond the scope of "taht amzzing " but this one gets " im making that" the highest possible praise i cangive a set / moc
Wow, so cool. Definitely getting this.
I've bought it one hour after releasing, it was my birthday, it looks amazing, worth all money
I got this for Christmas and I just completed the key assembly. It's SO COOL
I love all the intricate motion and the realism, but I feel like maybe a little bit more could have gone into the keys. Maybe have just three, one straight in and two at 45° angles. I feel like that would set it over the top in playability, though the one key works fairly well still.
I literally stopped what I was doing and ordered the set right after watching your video. It's a wonderful present for my typewriter-loving wife and I'm looking forward to a fun couple's project 👩❤️👨📠⚙️ Thank you in advance for the happy hours you inspired upon us! 🥰🥳
I know why your center type bar is higher - we just finished bag 6 and I realized what's causing this issue.
Look at page 130, the final move of step 178. If you separate the pieces a bit, meaning they shouldn't be pushed into each other all the way, maybe 1-2 mm less, then the center key rests lower.
It's possible to slide the pieces without disassembling anything.
The project is pure delight! We're taking our time over calm evenings and enjoy every moment. Still some way to go, just wanted to comment on this issue :)
Fantastic! I can't believe how someone can build these mechanisms! Thanks for the review! have a good time and enjoy the weekend!
As someone who is obsessed with technic, I need this!
System in play, so iconic.
Just treated by self to this set. I love everything about it, the vintage styling, the clever parts usage...honestly it just makes me happy. 😊
Thanks for the nice review Tiago, the set is definitaly on my must buy sets' list, however the problem is; the list is already too huge and too expensive!... LEGO needs to slow down on releasing such wonderful sets all at once, or at least have them available to purchase for extra additional years.
@Teamgeist Bruh. Again?
This is my favourite Lego set that has ever been released and I hope that I will be fortunate enough to receive it for my birthday.
this is a dream set for me. i love technic and i love system. this is a fantastic combo
My mother and maternal grandfather would've loved this set, as they were both excellent typists. Grandfather even did typewriter art...all on a manual typewriter!
I remember learning on a manual typewriter when I was a teen and the hassle when the keys would jam. And it's a bit sobering that if I showed this to many of my colleagues, they would have no clue what this is! 😆
I thought I was excited about the map, and then this came out. Map nearly done and this one is waiting for when I have some spare time. :)
This was so fun to build
YESSS I’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE A VIDEO REVIEWING THIS
I actually have tramautic experience with typewriters because of my shitty school
(Bloody fingers, working during the night, 3 whole pages a day or 15/week, sleep deprivation, child torture, etc.)
But I love lego and you recommended it so I can build it and as a good memory of what school I hate and to shut it down in the future.
This was my favorite and one of the most pleasantly challenging builds I've ever had. Absolutely loved it!
These are the kind of sets I want to rebuild with metal Lego. Imagine how good that thing would look with a shine
Would have loved to have a bell on it as well. That is part of the complete typewriter experience :)
Building this now with my wife. It makes me think....Can a LEGO Enigma Machine be far behind?
Best way to teach your kids what a typewriter is
I’m watching a video about the typewriter whilst building the typewriter😂😂
I love this set. Its very elegant. Doesnt have that clunky look with mass like most sets. 🙂
does anyone else love listening to this dude talk
Top Tier LEGO sets I've seen so far rn in 2022 :)
its a good toy for both kids and adults, make elderly’s happy too and i will not even be kidding when i say this is a good gift for elderly’s
I'll try not to be upset by being called "elderly"; technically you're right though.
I got my first Lego set in 1958 (garage with automatic door) and have been addicted to Lego since then. The whole family is hooked now and my grandkids know that "granny" will gift them their most wanted Lego set.
I'll adopt you as a grandchild since you're willing to buy me this awesome typewriter. LOL 😎💚
@@7slaper wow thats awesome, this would be a good set to relive some memories
“Best sets of 2021” titanic: hold my iceberg
i've wanted this since it came out, and its in the mail rn... i am so excited
Did he just call the question mark an interrogation mark? 😂😂😂
Hmmm, it is an interrogative sentence, interesting
Next we need a lego mechanical computer as an Ideas set!
Thanks for this great video! I've been afraid to start this one, but I'll pull out from under my bed and slowly go at it!
I didn't really like it at first, but your review made me see it in a new light.
It is also the same green of my aunt's typewriter that I used to write with as a kid.
Your review made me drop what I was doing and go to the Lego store. I snagged it. Can’t wait to build it
Really like the colour choice. That green is very nice.
BET YOU DIDN'T SEE WHAT I TYPED
Sneaky one...
Ok sure im subbing now
Sneaky boi
Success mechanical set. It dont looks stop motion working . Id love the lego machines.
Give me some money I’ll buy it
I had no idea the mechanism inside was so complicated!! What a great set
@@TiagoCatarino I wonder how long it took to design it. Anyways, great review video!
I think some expert builder is making one that actually work.
Couldnt find one yet
Can’t wait to finally build this.
For a moment I thought this typewriter would actually type. Lol
I have 3 manual typewriters which actually work. A 1936 Smith Corona Standard ($150), a 1938 Royal DeLuxe ($50), and a 1956 Tower Commander ($40, built by Smith Corona for Sears). This Lego typewriter looks most like a 1920s or 30s Remington portable. 249 is kind of high, I’d be interested at more like 75.
There may be a reason your middle piece is not sitting down which I had to go back myself. The piece it's connected to sits under the curved black pieces. You wouldn't have to take much apart to set it in place.
I have the same problem. I couldn’t figure out what I did wrong. Could you explain what you did to fix it?
@@fernandomagallanes2635 I'll have to look at it when I get off work. I'll let you know tonight
@@elizabethann2359 alright, thank you so much 😊🙏
I just got mine in the mail. Sooo excited!!!

you were right, i am buying this right now.
1:42 yeah, that one's gonna make a lot of sense on a typewriter with the latin alphabet.
Lol
I've been stowing these in the at work! They look awesome
i'm here because jungwon posted a video on weverse with this lego, i literally thought it was a real typewriter when he posted the video in weverse, i didn't know it was a lego 😭
I don't have a top 3 lego sets of all time but i do agree that this set is amazing.

I Love LEGO‼️
Your channel is so so good for quick but detailed reviews! You're going to hit a million subs in no time 😄
Have it, love it.
As a typewriter collector, I can confirm that all my typewriters are below the price of the Lego one and work. If looking for some nostalgia or just want a typewriter model, look in charity shops because that is where I get mine. Im not saying the Lego one is bad, but you can get working ones for a cheaper price.
