I remember I made a pinball machine out of lego in 2020, it worked and was a lot of fun to play, although it did have some issues every now and then. I'm not an incredibly skilled builder after all, there are plenty better than me.
Yeah, I was not expecting this to be that good. I rolled my eyes when I saw this was gonna be an actual set. Didn't care for the first 2 retro sets, but this thing is really impressive to me.
@@phroz3n what were the first two retro sets? and also while dealing with the functionality part of the pacman set do you find it weird that the lever has to be rotated counter clockwise compared to the typical clockwise that would feel more natural?
you have your top piece pac-man and ghosts on crooked they should be perfectly straight. I did this build myself also and you have to line the mechanism inside properly to achieve this.
Awesome set.. but I gotta be the negative nancy and say.. THERE BETTER NOT BE ANY STICKERS ON THE UCS VENATOR! Almost double the price, and likely a lot less necessity for prints or stickers.
@@MasterRyuuji cough, Razor Crest, cough - and I still wish it was a smaller set - around $450 - running out of space for this insanely big sets (not to mention expensive).
This is the first retro game set I really want, and I hate technic-heavy builds. But everything about the finished product (except for some big stickers) is near perfect to me.
This is a classic LEGO set that everyone is familiar with especially because it brings back memories from when it was originally released back in 1980!
The mechanism for this is incredible! I do wish it came with frightened variants for the ghosts though. There's two tiles for each ghost so I just think that's a bit of a missed opportunity. This looks like a great set though! Definitely my favorite of these retro gaming sets so far.
That is some truly impressive Lego mechanical magic with that crank mechanism! And appears much simpler in the back compartment than I thought it would, I pictured it would be a tangled web of lift arms and gears.
I really like how it comes to the hand brakes or you could just crank it and you’ll see the game being animated if you have a power functionparts handy well, you can make the animation work constantly
Not into Pacman or arcades, but gotta say that the engineering aspect behind this is amazing and attracting on its own. But the miniature build conveys the vibe and nostalgia a lot more in my opinion and makes for a better "cute" eye catcher on a shelf. Would have been more interesting to have a series of "nostalgia" sets in that size and the price range that would come with it. I think in general Lego excels in the smaller scale rather than their oversized sets. The smaller versions usually look better than the large UCS ones
Absolutely adore these Video Game machine / console sets. But lego having that bad of quality control is crazy. I had a similar issue with a set getting an entirely wrong piece.
As someone who owns a ms. Pac-Man from the 80’s I love this set. But I will agree that for the price you can get a real pac man machine so I’m not sure about that.
So I had the same issue with missing a piece and having a piece I never had to use in the fang fighter vs the tie intercepter set. Weird things going on by the Lego factory?
I’m kind of annoyed that you offset the little chase build. It comes with a tool to _make sure_ it’s centered, so you purposefully made it like that. It looks very strange, and ruins how the play-feature looks, so I don’t know why you do it like that and not follow the instructions.
Lego should team up with 1UP arcade or another company that produces mini retro arcade units to make an actual video game version that is playable. With lights of course.
1 in 12 men are colour blind, would be great if Lego labeled the bags with colours on the packet so we can separate then into bowls before we build them and put say a G for green next to the brick on the instructions, then I can locate which bag they were in.
This is a really unique piece like it really did try their best to make the cabinet look real when necessary another creators kit is there a Lego kit for a Galaga cabinet?
Was considering getting this for Black Friday but saw it in person and it’s a lot smaller in scale to the actual arcade unlike the 1:1 scale of the Atari 2600
Just bought it a year latter from Amazon and they sent me a refunded/unpackaged set ( they just slapped a postage label on it) as if it was new ! Amazon is getting dodgy ..
Not going to lie I am jelly that you don't have to purchase these sets. lol. As a reviewer, it isn't like Lego is going to ask for these iconic sets back correct? Appreciate the content, keep up the good work.
5c. for the coin is strange, since the game costs a quarter. Btw did you laugh the top Pac-Man and ghosts on purpose? The instructions have a (temporary) helper piece to align them facing straight.
I love this set. But legos become pretty care free about a missing piece or two in their sets over the past couple of years. Not too great with the constant price increases
The same things happened to me a week ago with my delorean time machine, i was missing a piece, but had another on that wasnt even listed in the book, I feel like lego have lowered their standards, pieces have more mold marks, stickers that are not cutted correclty, and now pieces problems... but still, for the pieces we can still ask it on the website. Ive been building lego's for a decade and these problems have never been there, and I can see where im at in the video you have a miss print, another problem... I love lego but damn this is sad
oh yeah theyre getting super sloppy now, havent bought any set for about 5 years now because the 3 i bought before then all had missing pieces and they were expensive sets too
@@SkurrrBango absolutely true, as much as i really like this set, i dont see a reason in buying it, i was for a long time collecting the expert cars but after 2 had missing pieces i dipped immediately
Lego is getting sloppy with all the misprints, I’ve got a lot lately. I think it’s Neat but I’m not a fan of stickers period in this expensive of a set.
Aw, instantly, massively disappointed when I found out it's not playable. Similarly disappointed with the NES and grand piano. Someday the functionality of Mindstorms will return to the brand.
All the people that will rush out to buy it thinking it's actually a playable arcade machine based on your inaccurate thumbnail. Yeah "it actually works" like the NES set "works" and the piano set "works". If by "works" you mean doesn't actually work but has a gimmick.
Really? At this price point? People are going to "rush" out and buy a Lego set (something you build with blocks) based on a TH-cam video thumbnail without actually watching the video or reading the box? Really? How far are you trying to stretch your incredulity here to push that line?
Lego pinball machine should be next. It would be fully playable and could be in a retro space theme.
I... wants... it... needs... it... mmmyyyy... *deep breath*
Pppprrrreeeecccciiiioooooouussss
And have it be themed around some of legos biggest themes for example city, technic, etc
This is a really good idea.
Could be a good lego ideas project

Pretty cool set very awesome mechanism and motion moving all the characters
Lego's quality control has gone down and it really shows in this set.
Definitely a set for me. Grew up playing Pac-Man at the arcades. I still play the game on my Xbox. I got Pac-Man fever
I think this is a fantastic looking set! Really wants to make me pick up the Atari and SNES to go along with it. Well done LEGO!
It's the regular NES. Not an SNES. Hopefully they make one some day.
Cool but not 270 + tax cool

1:32 - You've built it wrong!! The three characters are not aligned well.
Cue Billy Mitchell lying about having the fastest time assembling this thing.
I want the Brick built Pac-Man with all 4 Ghosts with the stand to turn them for $50 and a $10 diorama with that MiniFigure and arcade machine.
Looks awesome will go nice with my Nintendo set
Wow I didn't really get into the retro game sets, but im kinda tempted to get this, ive been on a early 2000s to 90s nostalgia kick lately

Great Video,
Keen to hear your thoughts on the big sets like the new Ninjago Market or Rivendell
That function is amazing
0:22 "It really started with the nintendo nintendo entertainment system"
2657 or 2651 pieces which is it heard they was error with the piece count 😅
Cool!!! My dad would like that
Wow!!!! How epic and Nastalgic!!!

They should make a mod with a tablet app that lets you use the lego controller to play the game.
Other reviewers don’t have that hole in the small pacman build
That yellow thing is to chang out the black one on the side

Shame that the gear mechanism is in reverse as naturally, I would want to turn it by pushing forward in my hand wrist rather than towards my body.
It does work in both directions.
