The sticker in the top office that you didn’t understand refers to an alternate build for the original gringots set. You could transform one of the carts into a race car with a flame out the back.
Fucking stickers again, we must demand Lego to use prints and and to release replacement stickers for all sets based on metal instead of paper (they are most durable) without background color imitation because it always doesn't match lego parts, they should be cut out to look almost like transparent stickers but with transparent part completely cut off. Also Lego should provide printable source files on site for all sets released before so people can print them and replace stickers!!!😢😢😢

The vault should've been handled like the rancor pit for Jabba's palace. A cool addition for those who want it but not mandatory for those who don't.

Again, I'll say this as many times as needed, I love the underground build the designers did brilliantly.
But it's like Icons all of a sudden deciding to make an underground section to the newest modular building that have been following the same system for over 10 years.
Now I understand that Gringotts isn't part of a 10+ year old system LEGO has in place, but it is supposed to be connected to the Diagon Alley set so... how are we supposed to that with the entirety of this set?!
The solution is clearly to sell underground sections of the same height for Diagon Alley and modular buildings

Agreed. The vault promo is cool though, I could totally see somebody with more chrome galleons on sprue than sense putting a whole bunch of those little coins in there with a certain greedy duck…. or greedy krab. Money pit anyone?
I cant believe you didn't mention the front sign sticker, although you did show it. It is probably the worst sticker use i have ever seen, and is such an eyesore in the heart of the build.
You're totally right. Should have a single printed element at least.

That Gringot ts Bank is what's stopping me from getting this set. I know it would be the first thing I'd see every time I looked at it and it ruins it for me.
9:19 it’s the alternative mine cart build from the first Gringotts (4714). At the end of its instructions is this alternative build - so another easter egg referencing 4714 😊
I like the X next to it like they tried that kind of cart and abandoned it because it didn't work

6:39 There is actually a black 2x2 plate included to connect the tracks. The instructions have you place it at the side of the cart track in case you don’t connect it to the main set.

Also, the blackboard with a cart that makes no sense is actually a reference to the original gringots bank set. It's an alternative build what doesn't relate directly to anything but is still a fun play feature
I’ll be putting gringotts with diagon alley on the top of my kallax shelf and the vault underneath so there is at least some spatial consistency. Best solution I can think of. Great review!
I'm doing exactly the same! As soon as it was announced, it's like it was designed with the Kallax unit in mind 😂
I'm actually thinking about redesigning and expanding the underground to be under the full Diagon Alley - I already built a fully modular Diagon Alley.
The underground part exactly matches the height of a Kallax shelf, like it was actually designed to be displayed this way. You just have to remove the four angular pieces that are clipped on to hold the base plate, then it fits perfectly.
Watching the other reviews for the set from other creators, it's clear what pushes Tiago's apart. Clear, concise, and knowledgeable. You write scripts and do research to make sure you are correct in the lore you are talking about. I watched one review for this set from another prominent TH-camr, and he had mispronounced like 5 of the names of people and objects in the first few minutes. I just had to stop watching. What I'm saying is great job, Catarino! You continue to he the best LEGO reviewer on this platform!
My plan is to have the set on top of a low cabinet combined with the Diagon Alley and then when I open the cabinet door below it will reveal the underground part below the bank.
The front stickers could be trimmed before placing. "GRINGOT TS BANK" Bringing the 2 T's together.

I love how almost every lego set has a hidden frog or uses frogs for the most random stuff
The bottom half, with some spooky pieces, could make a fun Halloween circus ride next to the haunted house they released a couple years ago.
If they made the underground section as a separate set, people would be complaining too. I feel like it's perfect the way they did it together. It makes this set special. It's also one of the most interesting parts about Gringott's. Otherwise, it's just a bank.
Exactly, and if it was omitted completely people would instead say "it's great, BUT it's missing the vault system, it feels incomplete".
The designers just couldn't please everyone here. This is to me a rare scenario where the high price point feel tough, but fair, considering the engineering and creative design.

To make two 200$ Sets that can be combined when u want would be a terrible idea. How could LEGO survive without the revenue from forcing people to buy half a set they don't need for there diagon alley. XD
It probably would've been best if the underground area was it's own set with a feature to attach to Gringotts in the same way. This is probably too much but it would be cool to have additional underground set that would go under the rest of Diagon Alley so that you can display the full Gringotts set with it.
Best set of 2023, no set is as interesting to look at from this year. So much aesthetic appeal, so many great play features and the cavern makes it so much more in depth and accurate to the movies. So many great details and Easter eggs. Plus Ron and hermione got so much drip.
What an awesome set! I'm almost sorry I didn't get it just as a collector type deal, but I love the amount of detail that went into it. I agree with the display dilemma. What I saw one person do was have the bank on a shelf with their other modulars, then place the track/vaults on the shelf below. Not a perfect solution, but it looked alright.
9:18 that is the cart from the original Gringotts set from 1999 or the early 2000s.

This is a great review! I just wanted to point out at 2:03 im pretty sure the bottom jaw of the dragon isnt exclusive as it also came with the lego jurassic world baryonyx
I think if they had to include the vault and wanted it to still be modular compatible it would’ve been a better idea to put the vault behind or next to the bank instead of below to keep everything on the same level. I get not wanting to split it into separate sets because I don’t think the vault on its own would sell well enough to justify a different set entirely - but if you’re going to advertise and design it as modular, you need to be conscious of how it’s going to fit into your already released sets. Also I love the fact that the GWP matches this set, but also think it’s really dumb that you had the potential to buy a different set and still get a vault set that doesn’t really match up or make sense without the full size one
Put your Bank (and Diagon Alley) on top of an Ikea Kallax - and the Vault right below of it. It fits perfectly with like 1mm space. Looks marvelous. ;)
Looking at this makes me so happy I still have the Gringotts piggy bank from 15-20 years ago. Same basic design for the building but you could put a small picture in the door way.
I've got my Diagon Alley set atop a bookshelf, so I intend to add the bank and then put the underbelly on the shelf below. There'll be about an inch's space left over but not a big deal to my mind.
How about displaying the Gringotts bank with Diagon alley on one shelf, and the cave section on the shelf below it?
Im surprised you didnt mention the use of stickers for windows and doors and how small the interior is inside the bank and side building. IMO prints add quality whereas stickers add more profit. Lego being a brand thought of making quality items might be trending in the wrong direction.
I am displaying the whole thing on a shelving system so the bottom portion is on the lower shelf. It has some gap right now but I play to build a simple base to elevate it up.
Put the Diagon alley builds on a shelf, and the bottom set on the shelf below. Problem solved! Surround the basement with the Harry Potter Books and DVDs, and you are all set! (hurhur)
The black tile needed to connect the extra vault is actually included in the GWP itself, it's just behind where the track starts connected to the wall ☺
“Unhappy” because they didn’t just give us the gringotta build and instead they wanted to innovate and surprise us with the underground section. I’m glad the people working at lego right now are pushing the limits of their designs instead of giving us what we expected….
The issue isn't that they wanted to "surprise us", it's that they have produced a set that costs double what it should have because they've bloated the size and piece count with a minecart system that many, many people have no interest in. It's fine to make as an add on, but trying to force it on the vast majority who they know just want a Gringotts to put with their Diagon Alley isn't innovative, it's a blatant cash grab.
As a standalone set or as a set that's probably more often bought alongside sets like the Hogwarts castle, I really like the addition of the underground vaults. In my head, the majority of people who own this set are probably kids playing with it and other Harry Potter themed sets as well.
For collectors, an advanced way to build around it could be to add an extra shelf underneath the shelf where you're displaying it and have it fit under there. That would also open up ideas like building underground features if you're using the bank as part of a Lego city.

The Underground is Fascinating how you showed any modular fitting atop, gives idea to an entire city Underworld! Would have made such a better Wayne Manor/Batcave!!
The problem is you cannot connect two sets if they are placed on a stand like this though. The designers told about how they scratched their collective heads trying to figure out how to make the building fit with other modulars, meaning using the thin baseplates with no connectors on the underside, and still be able to connect it to the underground section. The solution chosen does of course mean that while it makes it modular compatible, the stand has to extend a tiny bit outside the baseplate to "grab" the corners. I'm sure people will work out modifications to make it possible though, along with underground MOCs.
Someone with some crazy time on their hands could add a lowered platform to place the whole build on so that the bank is level with the street and the mines are accessible from below, it would be a challenge and some precise measuring but it would be the perfect display
Would the Lego Haunted House from a few years ago fit on top of the vault? I think that would be fun and allow me to use the bank in Diagon Alley without feeling bad about not displaying the vault section.
Agree. Not buying just because I have to pay lots of extra for the part (vault) I am not going to ever put in my Lego display case... This is a sad Christmas for my Lego shelf.

The way I got around the underground was by putting gringotts and diagonal alley all on a shelf and the underground on the shelf below stacked on a couple of books to give it the correct image
They really should have gone the modular route with this one, much like the Sanctum Sanctorum did. If they had done that, this would have been a must buy for me.
The massive gap between the two T’s is such an eyesore
Ideally you would want a custom shelf that displays your harrypotter lego city but has one section missing which has gringotts vaults placed on the shelf below but the bank part lines up perfectly with the rest of the city.
You would need to design your entire shelf system around a single set though. But I’m sure someone will do it.

If I was into city building, I’d cut the part of the table I’m placing this piece on and having an underground section with it. Basically having that kind of nice upper level lower level system
I don’t have any diagon alley or modular sets, I have no room for the alley. So I have no complaints with the set personally
the black bord in the top is s blue prent from thecart from the ferst gringotts set ever made
My problem with this lego is the vaults, I just want the bank for my diagonal alley, so the vaults are just parts that dont fit with the model for me so for me this is a dont buy maybe in future if someone sell to me only the bank
I guess a possible solution for the display issue is to place the bank with the diagon alley set on one shelf, and the underground segment directly beneath on a separate shelf.
I get the critique, but I disagree that the underground segment should have been left out, it's what makes Gringotts unique and special, it feels incomplete without it.

It's actually a reference to an alternative build from the first ever Gringotts set 4714.

@@bennettcolesberry9259 There was an alternate build in the 4714 set that featured the cart that was seen on the sticker in the new Gringotts bank. The map refers to this alternate cart build which you can find on page 43 of the pdf instructions from set 4714. :D

The best alternative: Mork 032101 Diagon Alley Bank Gringotts, 4185 pieces, US$ 131; all prints, no stickers, and it's "GRINGOTTS" and not "GRINGOT TS".
Move Daigon Alley and Gringots onto a hill of appropriate height to fit Gringots and do a cut away to show the vaults sirt if thing? Alternativeley it has to go under the table but you'd need some sort of modifications to display it. You would need lighting if some sort either way. This is a problem when bringing a magic building into non magic world.

Why not use 90 degree technic connectors for the braking mechanism so that its attached red lights are vertical when engaged instead of horizontal? So many weird choices..

I used to have the original Harry Potter sets, that little portrait is a nice touch.
They could of approached it the same way they did Jabba's Palace/Rancor Pit. Where the two sets were sold separately but could be combined.
I actually think it works better combined in this case, as it takes an a very nice building to an extraordinary level. Whereas my Barracuda set has all the extra pieces sitting in a box, while I only display the ship.

As a fan of Lego harry potter sets, but not the books/movies. I really liked this set. I really like the underground part (didn't know the bank had one) and the way it was built, the open-esq way it was built was great IMO. I kinda understand people who only wanted the top/ bottom part, but I would have bought both without thinking so it didn't effect me. As a plus, as someone who made their own (easily modifiable) Lego display shelves, I can easily display the top part with the rest of the shops, cut a whole and display the underground section on the next level down.
man I hope this is still around in a year I wanna buy it so bad but it's so pricey. I just got the Hedwig collectors myself
I think they should have had a play feature of the mine cart actually going through a waterfall, like a loosely connected clear blue flap or something

6:27 on the backside of the track of the promo there is a black 2x2 tile that you are supposed to use to connect the tracks i also think that the black hinge plate thing you remove to add the promo can be placed at the end of the tracks of the promo, maybe you have to remove some technic pins but then you have an end

Hey guys, I need your opinion on this. Should I get Creator Expert’s Assembly Square or Gringotts Bank? Since Assembly Square is retiring I’m inclined to get it but let me know if I should choose Gringotts!
This set looks like the dancing buildings in Prague.
I got the grimmauld place and the brickheads so I got the GWP, because I don't have the space for bank.
Wow, the GWP is a really extension of the set, thats brilliant idea
The extension idea is great. It would also have been a great idea if the GWP was available for longer than just two weeks (it's already finished) or if it was available as a separate purchase. It isn't. So all Lego have done is allow some customers that bought other sets to make a profit by later selling the separate vault kit, probably at 2 or 3 times its true value.

Even if you display the building on top of the underground part, they are not logically connected to each other - they minecart starts under the building, not inside of it. I.e. this set is not a cohesive whole, but really two distinct parts -> it could have been two sets.

I dont see a problem with the underground part in terms of display. Intuitively one just needs to build more underground roller coasters to lift up the rest of Diagon Alley to the same level /s
Lego may use the wrong spell: Great builds, but bad set. The vault cavern should be optional.
I have been waiting for Gringotts for years, so I was so disappointed when I first saw this set. I only want the bank. I am not going to pay all that money when I only want half of what’s in the box. In my opinion LEGO made a huge mistake on this one.
