Great Video. As a pilot turned nurse, one major difference. There are a ton of people out there that want to become a pilot and there aren't that many pilot jobs in the world. You have to like doing cold calls at "Mom and Pop" airline companies to beg to fly their clapped out planes in all weather condition to get the valuable flight hours in order to apply to major airlines with reliable equipment. As a nurse, there are always more jobs then there are people to fill them. Nursing wasn't my dream job, but it provided a steady income when the cyclical airline industry could not provide me with a job. I can still enjoy flying on an airplane, but it is nursing that pays my way.
Thanks for that perspective! Nursing can be very competitive at certain hospitals but overall, it’s not cyclical and there are so many jobs out there. Probably one comparison that may sound close would be getting into nursing schools themselves with all the impactions. I know that’s an ongoing headache for students.
Nursing is NOT a job!!!! Nursing is a CALLING and whenever we are CALLED to help heal humanity we better understand that CALLING is about SERVICE not dollar signs 😮LNA here 😊
Burnout is definitely in existence in almost every career field. Finding a balance, and personalizing your job search to your needs is very important. Great video as always.
Thank you & 100%! We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes it helps to be reminded a nurse isn’t just this one role we are taught. A nurse can do so much in their career and play to their strengths.
Thanks for making a video about this! It's good to seeing a more positive outlook while keeping it real. Lots of videos only focusing on the negative things like you mentioned. As someone going into nursing this is reassuring to hear! Thanks bro 👊
Ofcourse bro! Happy to help give you another viewpoint. Just making videos that would've helped me when I first started this journey & now a few years in.
Prior to becoming an RN I worked in automotive skilled trades for many years. Never during that career did I ever have a fellow employee commit suicide. Never seen a coworker curled up in the corner of the hallway sobbing. Never seen a coworker have a nervous breakdown at work. However since becoming a nurse I had had fellow nurses commit suicide. That’s how bad it is and people do not know what the corporate greed and narcissistic owners are currently doing to nurses. Nursing is a hellscape of stress, anxiety and depression. Moreover, it is all done for a reason. To increase the profit at any cost mentally that runs roughshod over staff. The only way it will ever change is for nurses to commit to a nationwide strike. But, management uses the empathy we have for our patients to bludgeon nurses in line. So, until we get our priorities straight nurses will continue to suffer and run from this profession !
Thanks for giving your experience and sharing it. I’m sending a lot of love, kindness, and compassion to all that pain. As well as lots of anger and frustration towards the system that has been intermingled between healthcare and corporate greed. But I hope to convey the message on this channel that nursing has pockets where we can thrive just like in many other careers.
I'm 25 right now and i have no direction or inclination of what i want for a career but i did have a job at a hospital and the cnas and nurses were the most awesome people i was around. So right now I'm starting a cna course next week and hopefully i can see if nursing is for me.
That’s a great plan! I say start there also, see how it feels. Base hit after base hit, no need for home runs. It’s never too late. A few ppl in my RN program were in their 30’s,40’s, and 50’s.
Hello, I’m new to this. I was a bachelors degree student in human resources management and labor law but was Funny any work so I switched into ultrasound tech it’s not bad so far I’m actually having a lot of fun but would like to learn more about it and about other jobs
Tbh I’m not fully sure. I’d assume the nursing field will be in a higher demand compared to radiology tech going into the next few years. But that’s not to say radiology isn’t a good field. My sister in a radiology tech program and she really likes it.

For sure let me know if you had any specific questions!
@@MaleNurseMentor is there a high demand for ultrasound tech and is it worth it?

Expectations going in are important- its not Grey's Anatomy.
I agree! It’s better to know and be honest about it.
