Thank you for the tips, especially for the new grads! I accepted a correctional position after only being a nurse since June, so this is a helpful resource for the less confident!
Happy to do it! I went into corrections as a fresh new grad. The learning curve is steep but I’m happy to have bypassed the hospital setting. It worked out well. Reach out if you have any questions or check out my other correctional videos.
Of course brother! I’m so happy I can be a resource for correctional nursing. When you messaged me yesterday I forgot to let you know I that I also had a video coming out . Reach out again, anytime!
@@gabrielleshaw1338 I would say females tend to actually do well in the correctional setting. You’d be surprised but like 80% of the nurses or so are female at least from my experience in both the jail and prison. For females, what I recommend is calling out bad or in appropriate behavior or comments made by male inmates. And be consistent with that. That isn’t common however, as most of the time they’ll just say hello and be friendly. But you won’t want to be known as someone that lets it slide as they may keep making comments on your appearance. They cannot do that and they know it. Apart from that, I would say it’s the same for males and everyone. Let me know if you have any other specific questions. Corrections is a good field for those interested in it and I’m always happy to share what I know.
@ Thank you for your response! I was offered a position as a corrections nurse earlier this week! I’m a new grad and have 6 months of ICU experience. Wish me luck 🍀
