I am over 75 years old. Born in France. In Canada for 50 years. Never once have I thought about buying a vinaigrette because I saw my grandmother and my mother pour on the salad 2 spoons of olive oil, 1 spoon of vinegar (or lemon), a little salt, pepper, sometimes add a crushed garlic clove. And that's all.

One thing that has always impressed me is how easily impressed Americans are. I really like that about you guys. I was asked to prepare a salad by my American friends and they were impressed that I made the vinaigrette myself instead of using a bottled ready dressing. It sounds really basic to people from my country (France), so it amazed me that they were happy about it. To us, it's like getting congratulated for breathing.
I usually use: extra virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar, turmeric, pepper, garlic, red onions, salt and different herbs depending on what I have (basil, cilantro, parsley...). Then I add feta cheese and avocado. Those are my staples and I can add other ingredients depending on the season or what I have.

I make a salad dressing that I made up three years ago. I call it my medicine to go with my Daniel diet.
1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
    2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
    1/4 cup of grainy mustard
    2 Tbsp honey
    9 zested garlic cloves ( I know it’s a lot)
    1 tsp black pepper
    Shake well.
    Salad.
    Chopped romaine
    1 thinly sliced celery
    1/2 thinly sliced red onion
    1/2 cubed cucumber
2 cups of halved red grapes
    1/2 cup sliced almonds
    1/4 cup dried cherries
I allow myself a slice of French bread to sop up the remaining salad dressing now flavored with the juice from the grapes. I eat this about 5 days a week for lunch, my first meal.
This has healed me of fibromyalgia, and autoimmune conditions due to an underlying connective tissue disorder. Eat, enjoy and heal!,

Sharing Dr Berg notes on how to make salad dressing at home.
You will use a simple base of extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar for each of these salad dressings.
Add this base to a 16-ounce jar and keep it in your refrigerator. Each time you have a salad, add a quarter cup to half a cup of this base to a bowl, add your spices, mix it up, and pour it on your salad.
Ingredients for the salad dressing base:
1/3 cup (2.5 ounces) extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup (2 ounces) apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons (1 ounce) lemon juice
    Apple cider vinaigrette dressing:
    1 tablespoon mustard
    1 clove garlic (minced)
    1 pinch sea salt
    1 dash pepper
    French-style dressing:
    1 teaspoon dried tarragon
    1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
    1/4 teaspoon dried lavender
    1 pinch ground pepper
    Italian-style dressing:
    1 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/2 teaspoon dried basil
    1/4 teaspoon crushed garlic
    1 pinch crushed red pepper
    Mediterranean-style dressing:
    1 teaspoon dried rosemary
    1/2 teaspoon dried mint
    1/4 teaspoon sumac
    1 pinch sea salt
    Asian-style dressing:
    1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
    1/2 teaspoon dried ginger
    1/4 teaspoon crushed peppercorn
    A splash of tamari
    Indian-style dressing:
    1 teaspoon ground coriander
    1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
    1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    A pinch of dried cardamom
    Thank you Dr Berg! 😼👍

Make mayo for deviled eggs using 2 yolks, 1 teaspoon mustard and garlic, 1 tablespoon apple cidar vinegar and lemon juice, salt, pepper. A little olive oil. About a forth of a cup. Mostly avocodo oil and MTC oil.

It’s really hard to eat 7-10 cups of salad each day. It is very bloating when done all in one go. The ideal is to have 5 cups at lunch and 2-5 cups at dinner, but it’s not easy for people who work full time to organise salads to take to work and also to do the constant grocery shopping to maintain all the daily salad.

My everyday basic for salads is a simple ,healthy & tasty dressing ! You might like it 🙂
Extra virgin olive oil (3 tblsp)
    Apple cider vinegar (2:tblsp)
    Chopped garlic cloves ( 2)
    Freeze dried parsley -
enough to cover the garlic well.
Himalayan salt - to your taste
Black pepper - to your taste
Mix well. Allow to stand 10 min before using .
Using slightly smaller quantities , I make this up fresh in my plate 10 min before adding my salad & eating .
I never smell of garlic afterwards , nor does it repeat on me.
This is because of the parsley .

So Awesome Dr. Berg! Thank you!
I usually do make my own dressing because I have the old Good Seasoning’s bottle that has the markings for oil, vinegar, water,
then I use crushed garlic, or ginger and fresh or dried herbs depending on what flavor profile I am trying to accomplish. So easy ! Every time I am at a Goodwill or thrift store I look for these bottles for friends because they always want one once they see me make dressing so fast and it tastes so good! So there’s a tip too!

VERY GOOD! May I please add one? LIME BASIL DRESSING. It tastes like summer! Use everything organic of course. I use 2 cup squeeze bottles for my dressings, so I make 2 cups at a time. In your blender, pour in 1 cup of fresh squeezed lime juice with 2 lime skins at least of zest. Add seasoning like black pepper, garlic (sm amount as to not overwhelm), cilantro (ditto) etc. Blend until smooth. Add in generous handful home grown or organic basil LEAVES ONLY. Stems can be bitter or stringy. You'll have to add a bit of stevia or sweeteners, your choice. Blend until smooth. Now, like a mayonnaise, turn on blender low and slowly start adding good real olive oil, a drizzle at a time. Slow emulsion keeps these from separating! When you've gotten about double the volume you started with, stop. Taste. Adjust for flavors. Try to aim for BACKGROUND seasonings and FORGROUND tastes of fresh lime and basil. Add small amounts of water if it's too strong. But. Use a lettuce leaf dipped into the dressing and shake before tasting. It keeps well, if it will last that long. Not in my house!.. It's good on everything. Almost! Deb

I LOVE the idea of keeping the "base" dressing in the fridge, ready to go. But what do you do about the oil hardening? I don't like to microwave my food, especially repeatedly. So is the only option to put the cold dressing in a pan of warm water until the oil liquifies every time I need to use it?

I wanted to include fermented foods in my dressing and didn't want to kill the good bacteria in miso when i cook it in soup. So i mix a big jar that lasts me a week in the fridge...4 heaped tablespoons of miso, i cover the miso with either white or red wine vinegar, and then also equal part of olive oil, add some oregano, black pepper and a few big squirts of japanese roasted sesame mayo (optional as the oil they use in this is not keto) and whisk it altogether.

I have enjoyed olive oil, but because coconut oil is plentiful where I live, I use it also.
    Try papaya vinaigrette:
    2 oz coconut oil
Peel 2C of papaya, retain seeds
    2 Tbsp ACV
    2 Tbsp honey
    2 fresh OJ
    Salt & pepper

I laugh every time Doc says 7-8 cups lol couldn’t eat that much food/greens unless they are cooked down like spinach. There is NO WAY I am going to overeat 😂 - I have to keep ALL my portions small - I can only eat once a day and I NEVER overeat - ergo that’s why I have to supplement - for a small, sedentary woman of 70 it is critical that I restrict ALL foods no matter how nutritious/nutrient dense - so clearly these amounts are only for active young people who can work out aerobically - if you are in my situation your diet will be strict and unbending - I NEVER cheat because it is so important for me to stay strong and as healthy as I can. I hope everyone will realize that we are all individuals with different levels of health and fitness one size doesn’t fit all.
    Blessings 💚☘️💚

Here's my recipe for a super healthy and tasty dressing recipe. When I make sauerkraut, I take out of the juice (salty brine liquid) and use it as a base for dressings. Usually, I add some ghee or coconut oil to neutralize the taste a bit, then add black pepper, cumin powder, ginger powder and chopped coriander. You can customize it as per your taste but trust me, it tastes well and is full of healthy bacteria. You can even make it creamy by adding sour cream or homemade Mayo.

Dr Berg, what do you think of "Camelina Oil". It's a non-GMO seed oil that's cold pressed, and has a near 1:1:1 ratio of Omega 3s, 6s, and 9s. Have you heard of it? It's got an interesting taste and doesn't need to be refrigerated like hemp oil does (even though it's much higher in Omega 3s). I've been using it and olive oil pretty much exclusively for a month now.
