I've thought that too, but sometimes I wonder if I, personally, would have liked it as much in that case... the writing and characters, as well as the multitude of references are party of why I like this game as much as I do While I am a person who WANTED another platformer from Banjo-Kazooie, I also enjoyed this game a fair amount specifically because it WAS Banjo-Kazooie... so I think maybe, the perfect dream for myself would have been to see the series continue making platformers while also releasing this game All that aside, I am glad to see this game getting some positive attention more recently... it's certainly fun in its own regards, just in an unfortunate circumstance overall
It would be worse without the Banjo IP, especially if it was a completely new set of characters. Most of the levels incorporate aspects of older Banjo games, as well as the soundtracks, and one of the great parts of the game is how they incorporate the characters into the levels. It would be bland without the Banjo name, plus even less people would've bought it

This game deserves more attention. No one ever gives it a chance just because it's a "Banjo Kazooie game." All the reviews and videos I've seen talking about it treat it like a proper adventure game, rather than a sandbox. The fun of this game doesn't come from simply beating the main plot, but from finding your own fun and unique ways to beat challenges. This game isn't meant to be a straightforward adventure. It's a sandbox to mess around with. On top of that, it's really fun to try and recreate existing vehicles from pop culture such as the batmobile or the Halo Pelican. I recommend watching Grim and Grin, as he's made a ton of videos recreating other vehicles and playing with the game's mechanics and physics to find new ways of creating vehicles, such as using springs and tow bars to create a booster.
Glad to see another Grim & Grin fan in the comments. I think the reason people dislike it so much is that Banjo Threeie as a concept was killed by Nuts & Bolts. The mere existence of N&B meant they would likely never see a proper sequel. 8 years of waiting for a specific thing and then being given something else entirely is a recipe for disaster.
29:30 - Fun little thing to note: If you own the original Banjo Kazooie for XBOX, you will be granted access to a free Super Engine, among other things via the secret Stop-N-Swap mechanic.
@@littleredruri Actually, I think my fun fact might be wrong! You can obtain 2, but I had to look up how. (Remember that this source could also be wrong): The first one can be gotten from the ghost pig crates, and the second one is obtained automatically at 110 Jiggies.
I love this game. Both standalone and as a Banjo game. Sure it doesn't have the platforming, but it has all the character. The characters are charming and funny, the game doesn't take itself too seriously, I think it looks gorgeous - I love the kind of quickly built aesthetic the stages have. This game would be far less notable if it weren't for the amount of flavour the Banjo world brings to it.
Since I haven't played this game in many years I may be misremembering, but here's a trick for the _Save Our Statue_ mission (27:00). Instead of trying to fight off the enemies you could just pick up the trophy and carry it into one of the hollow logs outside the farm. Those logs are indestructible so the enemies won't be able to get to the trophy and you will easily win with it taking minimal damage.
My favorite memories with Nuts and bolts was putting one block down, with 4 tow-bars in a "vertical square" (along the y-x plane) and then a large, square ring with 4 more tow-bars pointed inward. However, they have to be one (or was it two?) spaces away from the center. the tow-bars on the outside will try to pull the block in the center but can never accomplish this, since all four have opposition. Stranger still: using the "gas pedal" and moveing the control stick has "an effect." I recall that repeatedly full-pressing on the accelerator and moving the stick in a circle could cause this otherwise unpowered vehicle to fly halfway across the length of the Jiggoseum. P.S. I also really enjoyed just flying around into the "hidden workings" of Nutty Acres at the top of the entire map (not with this device, but it was fun to fall down with it) and also just casually traveling around the Banjoland area. Great game, but not what I was hoping for in a sequel (in gameplay or visuals) after almost a decade of waiting.

You could design a vehicle to make the floating thing easier, it’s basically just two platforms and then you detach one and go on top of it and start floating
Even though I haven't played this game (yet), I am of the opinion that it's not a bad game, but it is a subpar Banjo Kazooie game. If it wasn't a sequel to the series, or being overtly self-aware about trying to be different because it felt it needed to be, it probably would have been better.
47:55 youd probably have to dig for this one but I had a flip phone with a 9 key keypad on it way back and they also had a really bad banjo kazooie game on the store for it, looks pretty similar to gruntys revenge but imagine playing a banjo game with your old flip phone lol it wasnt easy
A lot of people have said this game would’ve been better received if it wasn’t tied to BK. I’d go a step further and say it probably wouldn’t have received all the hate if they made it clear this was a spin-off, and the collectathon wasn’t going away. They could’ve just said “Hey guys you need to earn your moves back by doing this vehicle adventure” or something, take out the slander toward collectathons, and boom, you have yourself a possibly better received spin-off and then an actual Banjo-3 a few years later. It’s all about framing, and the makers really wanted to fail.
Beat the game without flying, you can jump, but not fly, oh, and if you get in the air, via vehicle, mission failed, you can use flying parts, just not for flying.
Extremely impressive that you did all of that with so many unnecessary restrictions. There really wasn't any real reason to ban the suck n blow for movement if you weren't using it for air travel.

I feel like banning propellers wasn't entirely necessary. Using propellers upside down on the bottom of a vehicle lets you climb walls with the power of suction, and horizontal props shouldn't create lift... That said, this is objectively more interesting than climbing walls all the time
Dang it, I edited to fix a typo and I lost a heart from D-Pad himself... This is the second time I've done something like this, but it's weird that it happened twice EDIT: IT'S BACK! THE HEART RETURNS! I'm not touching that comment ever again, I don't wanna lose the heart again

To get into the castle to get that Mumbo crate just use one of the benches near the jiggy bank.
Banjo and Kazooie are fat in the beginning because of the lack of jumps
Technically can't you say that banjo tooie couldn't have happened without banjo kazooie
Was waiting on this one but also was surprised at the same time
30:10 I managed to get a score of 50,000+ with a normal vehicle without using any major exploits
Thanks for the heart
Honestly as akid that didn't know the first two B-J games existed, *_It was a damn good game_*
The unattainable jiggies you should call the missing jiggies, because there’s always at least missing puzzle piece.
I feel like a few of these are doable if you just use the parts that are banned unless they're used to let you fly in specific missions.
Geez this will be good
Even though I haven't played this game (yet), I am of the opinion that it's not a bad game, but it is a subpar Banjo Kazooie game. If it wasn't a sequel to the series, or being overtly self-aware about trying to be different because it felt it needed to be, it probably would have been better.
You could get boxes that are locked with laser early, also you could get 2 jiggy machines
This man really said that the boot-in-a-box was less useful than the spring
I really liked the humor in this video
He made the game even harder and worse to play, congrats
Well considering a lot of us enjoy this game its quite fun to see
A cozy little video
The reason I remembered this game existed
Interesting idea, but "in the air via vehicle", does ramping off something with pure speed count?
@@DPadGamer no, like, using an areal part to take off.
@@DPadGamer to simplify, you can jump and use flight/jump items, just not to get into the air.
THEY INFLATED KAZOOIE?!?!
BROTHER, I'M DOWN BAD.
Yo more challenge runs plz
I haven't played since Nintendo lol
I enjoyed this video!!
Wow, I've been waiting super long for this but never got a notification for it...
I wonder what are they up to these days. Well after they got the smash letter.
I liked the story of this game but everything else (besides the graphics) don't really own up to the games.
Is it even possible to get the super gun part shown in the fold out thing with the manual?
Nuts and bolts is an alright game. I remember liking it before but maybe if I played it again I would see if it’s any good. (Or bad)
especially doesnt have a c. it isnt ecspecially.
Honestly, kinda wish you used all the guns against gruntilda, would have been funny to just see you fire once and then be booted into the next phase.
Extremely impressive that you did all of that with so many unnecessary restrictions. There really wasn't any real reason to ban the suck n blow for movement if you weren't using it for air travel.
Would be a nice speedrun category xD
I would have said water only use of propellers and basic gliders would be good since no air propulsion
Epic narration in the beginning tho.
My favourite game from past :>
Love ur vids and all the challenges
9:12 i beat this gruntilda fight in two seconds and i was like damn world record😂 i was so dumb
edit: now i want to play the game but our xbox360 belongs to my brother which isnt at home
This is the second time I've done something like this, but it's weird that it happened twice
EDIT: IT'S BACK! THE HEART RETURNS! I'm not touching that comment ever again, I don't wanna lose the heart again
This is my fav childhood game.. I didn't know English back then so i always tried climbing everything on foot. I was always scared of the little robots. Oh and I forgot to mention I didn't even know you could build helicopters or planes lmao. Is there a way to play this on a PC? My xbox 360 broke
I don't believe there is any legitimate way to play it on PC. That said it is part of rare replay which is available via Xbox game pass for the Xbox One
@@DPadGamer oh wow okay. Not sure if that's worth it for me personally.
Thanks for the heart tho, I really enjoyed your playthrough
@@DPadGamer I just got a random notification that I can now play xbox cloud gaming in my browser and the game is on there!!! its playable too Im so excited!!
OH GOD! WHAT IS THE THUMBNAIL RENDER!
In before Banjo-Kazooie's Smash ultimate classic mode without jumping or flying
I've always liked this game
Wow, this game.. Yikes. Nice on completing it jumpless!
Yikes? What is that supposed to mean?
@@willycheez7218 .. what do you think it means?
This game's kinda a trainwreck as a Banjo & Kazooie game
@@RecoveryPlayz Still the best one doe 🤭 there are no rules as to what can be a Banjo-Kazooie game, are you saying BK: Gruntilda's Revenge for the GBA is bad as well because it's also different?
@@willycheez7218 no, that's not what I'm saying?
Nowhere even close to it?
Go off ig but this one's just.. kind of a trainwreck in general.
@@RecoveryPlayz But it's not
a 50 minute challenge video with dpad gamer!?!? :D
Alright, now for Grunty's revenge without jumping and Banjo Pilot without flying, right?
