Hey guys, this video ended up being so much more work than expected, but I'm happy with how it turned out. It was a nice change of pace, so I'm not opposed to trying more challenge videos in the future. If you have any feedback / suggestions on game(s) I should consider, let me know!
A suggestion for a few videos: glitches and easter eggs, along with a challenge for A Hat In Time! Challenge: Can you beat it with only the ORIGINAL Kid's Hat? (By "ORIGINAL," I mean the hat you get at the beginning of the game)
31:46 - "Beak bust boulder blocking bumbling beaver's bhome." 32:23 - "burrow. Oh right that's the word." I just wanted to let you know I noticed and appreciated this.
I couldn't do this, i would drive myself crazy. I jump out of boredom. I'm the guy that rolls everywhere in Ocarina of Time. Jumping gives me something to do in between the action.
That’s just ADD.. The reason most people might jump in a game is when you have a consistent move speed and just don’t want to get caught on janky terrain If rolling is faster then by all means - but it’s for a practical reason, that’s the difference
This could still be done in the N64 version because although your jinjos and notes reset upon death, the ‘note score’ is still saved which allows you to open the doors regardless
@@UnBR0k3enAngel There's no such thing as harmless fun, every minute of effort of your time must be used for some great endeavor. According to Chris that is

took me 15 years.... by watching someone's playthrough and they got annoyed so tried shooting him with eggs... me and the gamer felt so stupid together 😂
i think activating the flight pad should count as a jump since banjo jumps high BEFORE kazooie starts flying. And shock pads should be two jumps since the animations has banjo doing a short jump before kazooie does the high jump.
That's not a user input though. If that was a justification for adding them to the counter then you'd have to add every puzzle piece too (banjo jumps in the air after grabbing it) and I'm sure that's the case with some other collectables too.
Good video! You sound a bit nervous, but I know something new can be hard. There's one critique I have to offer: you really should have said during the rules what version you're using. The only reason this route works is because you're on a version that saves notes. The N64 version, with its best score mechanic, would rule out... pretty much all the deathwarps, and possibly bloat the counter immensely as you have to do a note collecting run on Rusty Bucket Bay before optimizing jiggies. Still, I respect the work you put into this route, and it shows with a good video!
You're right, I should have specified why I picked the Xbox version, thats my bad. (Edit: And on the first point; it was like 5% nerves, 95% sleep deprivation)
The following is constructive criticism and spoilers. You have been warned. I'll just use this open space to say thanks DPadGamer for a great video. Makes me want to try doing this sometime. At 12:01 the 54th jump can be avoided by running off the edge and rat-a-tat-rap'ing back into the egg breaking it and allowing you to land on top, skipping a jump. Jump: -1 At 13:40 instead of leaving the level each time, just get Sir Slush to throw a snowball at you and then bear punch it for a honeycomb. Simplicity: +1 At 14:20 using somewhat precise movement, you can grab the Jiggy in the tree by jumping off the pillar and up onto the top. Jumps: -1 At 17:20 Nice style points, but you don't need to jump onto Rubi's head. You can just Jump onto the snake's basket. Simplicity: +1 At 19:16 You can skip the first 2 jumps by being damage boosted to the 2nd ledge by the Piranha. Jumps: -2 At 29:18 Doesn't death reset your Jinjo count? I'm pretty sure it does. Jumps: +(1)? (however many it takes to get out of blue jinjo box) Alternatively, use 1 jump to get out of the water after getting the pink Jinjo and get the blue Jinjo last, then death warp (to keep the Jiggy ofc). At 31:21 You don't need to jump to reach that shock jump pad, you can walk off the edge and flutter onto it. Very difficult, but doable. Jumps: -1 At 32:06 The left side of the hive is easier imo but viewers should do what works best for them. Simplicity: +1 At 32:56 Repeating a non-jump. Jumps: -1 At 33:34 All of these jumps can be avoided by doing a flutter into a ground pound near the top of the slope. Jumps: -3 Total: -8 Jumps and +3 Simplicity
My responses (also contains spoilers) 1) You HAVE to Beak Barge, which requires being on the ground, crouching, and attacking. A rat-a-tat-rap doesn't work. 2) I never said you have to leave every time, just the once after getting the Sir Slush jiggy to respawn them. Its so you can use their damage boost to reach the flight pad jumpless, nothing about health, thought thats a good idea. 3) Not a bad idea, you're welcome to try it yourself but that platform is suprisingly high up compared to the surrounding circular walkway. A bird bounce (most likely) won't get you there, and I'm pretty sure the lip at the top of the pole will prevent you from gaining much height. Still, might be possible. 4) Its impossible to reach the Snake's basket with a single jump. I tried, for like 10 minutes. If you pull it off, i'd love to see over on twitter. 5) If you read the note, the fish doesn't come close enough for a damage boost, nor does it boost you high enough to get to the second alcove. 6) It only resets on the N64 version, this is the Xbox One (well, XBLA) version. 7) You say that, but I tried those alcoves for twenty minutes. Its wider than the previous alcove wall. Unless someone has incredible frame precise inputs, I don't think its possible. 8) I did left side, which wasn't correct, which is why I said right side. Do as I say, not as I do :p 9) Same point as 7. 10) I've tried, for a long time. I am 90% sure it doesn't work. Hope it doesn't come off as dismissive, just trying to cover all the points.
If you were to collect a ton of health boosts you could probably damage boost the first half of the floor match puzzle in Gobi's Valley. The solution is always the same, so if you memorize it, you can (hypothetically) do less jumps with that than you would with some of the other ones.
Suggestions for removing jumps: Clankers: Jumping for the jiggy on back could be removed by roll-flapping off screw? Gobis: if you do pyramid last, you can quit game instead of jumping out of coffin. You have 13 notes more than you need. Surely some jumps can be cut here, for ex in CCW

I recommend getting an emulator. Being my fave game (s) i obviously fan drool but these games changed my life. They tought me more About social behavior than school ever did
6:58 You can skip these jumps over the pipes by walking towards the edge (a critical step, since otherwise you'll just claw swipe off into the water), roll-attacking, and quickly pressing A in midair + another A press for the flutter (if needed)
What a down-to-earth video! And your gameplay skills are surely grounded in experience. In terms of entertainment, you truly held nothing back (except for Kazooie's wings). Now that last sentence may have sounded a bit forced, but I just tend to gravitate towards making whatever puns I can. I simply couldn't avoid jumping at the opportunity to engage in cheesy wordplay. Now with my puns expended, I'll just (bird) bounce out! Edit: oops! I almost forgot to (ground) pound that like button! And no, that definitely wasn't just an excuse to make another pun!
I would love to see how many jumps does it take to beat Super Mario Sunshine :D but I loved this! Super cool to be able to say you only need X amount of jumps to beat a game :)
Unfortunately, unlike Mario Odyssey, Mario doesn't really have a reliable way to gain height without using the rocket nozzle or jumping. Hovering from the ground gives barely as much height as a standard jump, if that. Even worse, the rocket nozzle is not always available in every episode, and to add insult to injury, each world contains 2 levels that require jumps since your F.L.U.D.D is removed. There just isn't as much for creativity as there is in other Mario games.
The sheer loathing you have for rusty bucket bay...you are a true Banjo Kazooie veteran. Ive played that game through 100 percent and the only world that ever kills me it that blasted bay.
Coming back and watching this again after your Banjo-Tooie least-jumps run is so wild, just to see the difference in numbers. Both are amazing accomplishments! It’s interesting how the Tooie levels almost seem to be designed more horizontally to me than the more vertical Kazooie levels. Love the content as always!
Banjo Kazooie has always been one of my favorite games too. I did a casual speedrun of it with my friend a few years back, and was amazed at how much more I learned about the game from doing that. Seeing so much work put into a challenge like this makes me amazed how much we're still getting out of the game over 20 years later. Really enjoyed it!
At 14:17 you can save a jump. At the top of the pole, neutral jump until you clear the lip and then hold forward and you will land on the platform with the jiggy. Awesome video btw, was fun to see you overcome a lot of tricky situations with ingenuity
The first Jiggy can be collected if we add to Jump's definition of "Using Jump, Feather Flap Flip, or Shock Spring Jump" the condition "on the ground or in water". If Banjo slides off a ledge while crouching, he can use a Feather Flap Flip while in the air.
Only issue with restarting console during a world, in the N64 versions, you have to recollect all the notes again, unlike in the xbox 360 versions where it keeps track of the notes you got so you don;t have to get them again!
My biggest take away from this video is you can take out the shark with farting eggs. I've played the game innumerable times over 20+ years and I never knew this. ty
This was my favorite game in the world as a kid on the n64, but over the years i have no clue what happened to my old system and games. I just got a series x at the start of december and was so happy to see it there on the list of games included with game pass. Its been my most played game since then.
This video is beautiful. I thought this would be half-assed, but I think there could only be a few more jump saves. I was pleasantly surprised. Good Job!!
For those who don't know, if you die or leave a level in the N64 version of Banjo-Kazooie the level does a soft reset. It remembers which jiggies you collected and major events you completed, like raising Clanker, but you need to recollect Notes and Jinjos
Fortunately, since a consistent method of furnace fun skip has been found, you won't even need to waste time with the joker spaces. It doesn't save jumps, but it does save time.
Actually, its fairly easy to get away with 162 jumps by not jumping in the last cauldron, saving the game, removing the cardridge, tossing it out of the window and committing a class B felony at your local townhall
DPadGamer Just finished! Very cool, I hope to see more challenge videos like this in the future. I’ve always loved gaming challenges, so it’s cool to finally see you do one.
One easy glitch or exploit rather is in Freezeezy Peak during the "Lightbulb Escorting" Jiggy, you can pan the camera away from the Goblins, (have Banjo face the present the bulbs jump out of), the Goblins won't spawn and the light bulbs will all make it to the tree without having to kill the enemies. I noticed there wasn't any jumping on the Goblins but it would definitely save time and eggs.
I originally was going to talk about that exploit in that section, but it wasn't expressed succinctly enough. In our case, I didn't use any eggs, just crouch-attacks, which beats it pretty fast.
34:44 I think for this you could skip the jump by falling off of the jump pad behind the CCW entrance and quickly pressing A for the moment you're mid air. It's especially harder since you can't see the jump pad, but it is another potential jump save.
You can exit a level by dying, and you'll keep your note score and any jiggies you collected. The speedrun does this to leave Treasure Trove Cove without watching the "got all ten jiggies" fanfare. This will let you skip many jumps, including the two to get back out of the ship in TTC - you can save that jiggy for last and leave the level by drowning.
Just so you know, when you get the Jiggy in the Christmas Tree in Freezeezy Peak, you can jump one time from the pole onto the top with the Jiggy, you jumped twice, off the pole then onto the top.
24:47 you can actually access rusty bucket bay puzzle from mad monster mansion puzzle(but only if you do NOT press the water level 2 button) It might save 1 jump
14:18 you only need one jump there, not two. If you climb to the top, hold A to do a full jump, push the stick into the pole, and rat-a-tat, you'll get to the jiggy no problem.
Ok, here's a nice extension of this challenge. How many jumps does it take to COMPLETE Banjo-Kazooie? Including Stop-n-Swop? Using the Sand Castle codes?
u take the weirdest, strangest and sometimes stupidest sounding things lol n turn them into some really interesting videos idk how the hell u do it lol i mean think about it "how many jumps does it take", thats like askin "how many steps does it take to get to my truck" lol it seems like the most uninteresting shit but again u somehow make it so interesting i want to watch lol please dont stop main videos theyre all great n deff appreciated
When facing Boom Box in RBB, you could probably hit it with an egg so you can collect the jiggy without destroying the box, then damage boost back onto the ladder.
I'd like to imagine a contest of some sort that takes 3-4 BK superfans and springs this challenge on them blindly, for them to all perform simultaneously on live stream. Whoever gets the least jumps and beats Grunty wins. Furnace Fun would be so engaging to watch the reactions to.
12:40 at the apex of the shockpad leap/jump thing you can actually just do a rata-tat-rap mid air and save yourself the jump to get up to the highest part
At the start you say no major glitches but given you clip through a wall in Rusty Bucket Bay that would seem to exclude clipping from the category of "major glitches". So if clipping is allowed, you can clip through the final puzzle door and save 25 Jiggies and a ton of jumps.

For those who don't know, if you die or leave a level in the N64 version of Banjo-Kazooie the level does a soft reset. It remembers which jiggies you collected and major events you completed, like raising Clanker, but you need to recollect Notes and Jinjos
Jinjo comes up as GI Joe in the auto captions and I'm all for it
So what did we learn today?
Me: Banjo can’t win without Jinjos
It's worth noting that this only works on XBox Live Arcade because on N64 all notes in a level reset after death. And I think the Jinjos, too.
4:46 I'm 35, I've been playing this game since the day it came out, and I was today years old when I learned you could kill Snacker.
I consider fluttering as jumping as it requires pressing the a button to gain height and is taught in the jumping tutorial
Fortunately, since a consistent method of furnace fun skip has been found, you won't even need to waste time with the joker spaces. It doesn't save jumps, but it does save time.
I love Banjo-Kazooie so much. I know obviously you didn't make it _just_ for me, but thank you so much for making this video.
I love it a lot too. :D
Great video! This has always been my favorite game so I love when new content like this comes around.
Watching the Banjo-Tooie video before this one certainly got my expectations too high
Actually, its fairly easy to get away with 162 jumps by not jumping in the last cauldron, saving the game, removing the cardridge, tossing it out of the window and committing a class B felony at your local townhall
Well, I know what I’m doing for the next forty minutes
:D Let me know what you think after you're done watching!
DPadGamer Just finished! Very cool, I hope to see more challenge videos like this in the future. I’ve always loved gaming challenges, so it’s cool to finally see you do one.
:]
The Sonic Team & Knuckuls Heya
oh, I just realized it was 40 minutes long with your comment... now I'm worried with how I'm spending my night
Grant Kirkhope’s story about voicing the plants is so funny! “Why would I say 🤬 you in a kid’s game!?”
Newcomer to channel and challenge is so impressive (not easy to impress) its an immediate sub btw
This game is forever imprinted in the deepest depths of my memory

Ultimate answer:
More than one
More than 2
More than 3
More than 4
More Than 60.
@@DPadGamer lol, I just realized I learned that exploit from your Banjo Kazooie video 2 years ago, whoops 😂
That doesnt work. It doesnt save the gold bars you collect if you die.
honestly banjo is the best big brother, he loves his sister so much to go on this terror adventue
Just so you know, when you get the Jiggy in the Christmas Tree in Freezeezy Peak, you can jump one time from the pole onto the top with the Jiggy, you jumped twice, off the pole then onto the top.
Awesome video! Love seeing people share the love of my favourite game. Goodluck on "how many woah's does it take to beat crash bandicoot"
24:47 you can actually access rusty bucket bay puzzle from mad monster mansion puzzle(but only if you do NOT press the water level 2 button)
It might save 1 jump
I fucking lost it at "Tetanus Shot Bay" 😂💀 hahahahahaha
14:18 you only need one jump there, not two. If you climb to the top, hold A to do a full jump, push the stick into the pole, and rat-a-tat, you'll get to the jiggy no problem.
Thats quite possible.
@@DPadGamer Ought to come watch me and the rest of the community do speedruns, mate 😎 great video, though!
Ok, here's a nice extension of this challenge. How many jumps does it take to COMPLETE Banjo-Kazooie? Including Stop-n-Swop? Using the Sand Castle codes?
I didn't know you could kill the Shark in Treasure Trove Cove with eggs...
I use the “Bird Bounce” also
I can't believe that someone actually did this
hahahaha
nice!
u take the weirdest, strangest and sometimes stupidest sounding things lol n turn them into some really interesting videos idk how the hell u do it lol i mean think about it "how many jumps does it take", thats like askin "how many steps does it take to get to my truck" lol it seems like the most uninteresting shit but again u somehow make it so interesting i want to watch lol please dont stop main videos theyre all great n deff appreciated
Nice video thanks for the shout outs in the stream!
When facing Boom Box in RBB, you could probably hit it with an egg so you can collect the jiggy without destroying the box, then damage boost back onto the ladder.
9:34 yeah i don't see the jump and i doubt anyone else did. you were in the clear
You make me realize that if I turn out to be 500lbs I just need to jump on occasion rather than roll to survive life. RIP ankles, I gotta plan
What is the song playing during the Mad Monster Mansion section? It’s on the tip of my tongue and driving me crazy.
You could have done this with 0 A presses by just using HOLP storage and cloning to spawn jinjos within walking distance.
Banjo knocks down huts or banjo commits war crimes in wherever the hell he is
12:40 at the apex of the shockpad leap/jump thing you can actually just do a rata-tat-rap mid air and save yourself the jump to get up to the highest part
29:43 wooooh hoooh; Yoshi's Woolly World - Fluffin' Puffin Babysitting best soundtrack ever!!!
It ended up being a lot more jumps than I thought it would be for some reason.
At the start you say no major glitches but given you clip through a wall in Rusty Bucket Bay that would seem to exclude clipping from the category of "major glitches". So if clipping is allowed, you can clip through the final puzzle door and save 25 Jiggies and a ton of jumps.
Using the flight pads, how is that not a jump each time?
🤔🤔🤔
Because it's not a jump, you're being launched into the air, like a slingshot effect.
@@EverArtz with your legs tho?
@@EverArtz He said that anything that requires pushing A that shows a jump animation is considered a jump, which flying is so...
You can save a lot more jumps on the Lair Jiggies by glitching out of the room in front of CCW with bumble bee I'd assume!
