    Run your trains the way you want to !! Don't worry about what the Male "Karens" say. If you wanna run "Your" trains near the edge...do it ! If you wanna run them at 70 MPH around the curve ....do it ! I know that you won't...lol.
    On a side note...I love the expansion that you have done. Maybe when the temp cools down here in Oklahoma. I might start building a layout. We are not as warm as Phx ...but it was 82 at 6:45 this morning and humid.

    Another good one Rick. I love your “realness”, nothing staged or re-edited. I use a bar stool to run my layout sitting down. The puts me at my track level. whatever works and whatever is comfortable.

    Hey Rick, looking good and it's nice to see some trains running in that area now. As far as how you do things on your layout well if it works for you and your happy with it that's all that matters 🤷‍♂️😅 Look forward to watching your progress. Have a good night and stay safe. Happy modeling!! -Jason

    I really like Blue Point switch machines. They allow you to power your frogs, if you're into that. I use small eye rings to attach them to dowels that I run to the fascia, instead of all that fancy stuff that Blue Point wants to sell you, so very little additional cost. It's a little tough mounting them after you've installed the switches, but not impossible. The Rix product mentioned in another comment looks interesting and is much cheaper. It's not a complete solution by itself, though.

    • @jcure
      @jcure ปีที่แล้ว

      @SoCalScaleModels I used one of those Bluepoints in a location where I needed to be able to throw the
      turnout from two locations. I have wooden pushrods connected to the lever on the bottom from both locations, so
      one can be on either side of a scene divider and still throw the switch. It's on the end of Y if you wondered.
      Rick, you could also use aircraft model bell cranks and throw rods, but you may find they are more trouble
      than they are worth, compared with a Bluepint and push rods of metal or wood. Good luck with those. Or of course
      the electrics. Myself, I don't like electrics if the they wouldn't be powered in real life, like off a main line. Like you,
      I just finger flip or have moved to ground throws. (I like the ground throws as consistent for op crews, Kiss n all)
      Amazing progress, I can't keep up.

    You can always add a see-through plastic protector on that side of the layout so that in case a piece of rolling stock decides to derail, there will be something there to stop it from taking a dive unto de floor. Just a small suggestion. Looking good!

    New skirts! Was there any industrial sections in any direction other than South of the yard of what you're modeling? You could have built a "Y" on the lift bridge, then went right and into the expansion section. Left more room where the washer & dryer are at for doing laundry. Just a thought.

    Don’t worry folks, this is not exactly a Lionel train set. that will go flying around the corner and careening onto the floor. Very rarely if ever will you see a locomotive going faster than three scale, miles an hour you know, walking, speed.

  • @adriengadson3544
    @adriengadson3544 ปีที่แล้ว

    You got them running and looking good. To silence those other Locomotives without using your control. I would just put in a on off switch on one of the rails. That you just turn them off so no unwanted noise and extra current draw.

    Regarding switch machines, one benefit of Tortoises and other electric ones is that you can control them via DCC, which puts everything on the same handheld. Saves a lot of walking back and forth.

  • @David-yo5re

    It's looking good Rick. I would have done the same thing to power the run around. Laying in some jumpers is the best option for that situation. What type of bridge is going in over the Santa Ana River? I also like that you have it designed so the train has to go all the way around the layout to get to the new extension. It adds in more run time and more run time means more fun time. Nice job on your control panel, it looks really good as well.

    Looking good Rick it's coming together 😄 I use Atlas under the table switch machines for my turn out and use momentary switches to operate them yeah I know you guys out in California is under a heat wave and here in Ohio we're getting all that Canadian smoke which is poor air quality from the great state of Ohio

    A strong 6.0 shaker could be detrimental...

    • @lindahurley-bruce7575
      @lindahurley-bruce7575 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've lived in SoCal since before the 1971 shaker. None of the several 6.1+ since then has derailed anything on my various layouts. A few items have been knocked off shelves, but not off layout rails.
