In this video we explore ten different left hand accompaniment patterns that can be used on any church hymn (or any song, for that matter). Church pianists can use these patterns to depict different emotions on various stanzas of any given hymn, thus enhancing the congregational singing of hymns. Piano teachers can use these patterns to help students with their improvisation skills, as these patterns are not limited to church music, and can be used on almost any other song!

Thanks so much! This is very helpful and just what I needed. I'm currently working on "I Love to Tell the Story." I like to use the EZPlay Today books that have lead sheets and chords. I was looking for the right LH feel, and using a combination of these hit the nail. on the head!

Raluca what a lovely name and thank you for this inspirational teaching. It would have been even tastier if you had the opportunity to set the camera above so that one could see the movements of the left hand. It was abit queter the left hand. Anyway is useful and helpful, thank you for your effort to share this, bless you🙂.
Thank you for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind for future tutorials :)

any tips on how to adapt these to 3/4, 6/8 times?
The ideas remain the same. For example, if you use a broken chord that in 4/4 might have been quarter-quarter-half note, in 3/4 it is simply reduced to quarter-quarter-quarter. Check out any existing classical music written for piano that's in 3/4 or 6/8 and analyze the composers' LH accompaniments. You'll start noticing patterns. Hope this helps :)
Tq u r right person me searching for a very long time...miss
I'm glad you found it helpful!
I wish I could play like this
Find a local teacher! Learn the basics! Piano is like any other skill - start with step 1. Then with proper guidance, support system and practice, you can accomplish anything!
