The 350KW DC charging power is really groundbreaking ... over here we have a bunch of chargers which supposedly should be able to max out at 350kW, have no clue how realistic that is? Anyway, thanks for the very critical review ... that is how a real review should be ... Respect!
I'd give the music analogies a miss from now on Matt. Nirvana didn't have a debut smash hit to follow up so there was no difficult second album. Their first album barely sold outside of Seattle so they were still unknown.
i testdrove the ioniq 6 and for someone who's on the taller side you might have some issues. Im 187 and i found that to make my head fit underneath the roof comfortably i needed to recline my backrest quite a bit. A little too much. As a previous driver of BMW's and sportier cars im used to having my back upright and my legs straight in front, in the Ioniq 6 my legs were not completely straight and by backrest was a little too far reclined.
E-GMP platform peak charging rate is about 230-240kW, not 350kW. That's probably some communication issue regarding the fact that it can take advantage of the fastest 350kW chargers.
I know the design is a bit marmite but hats off to Hyundai for doing something different. Too many cars follow a similar design trajectory and this imo looks far nicer than a Tesla model 3 - hands down.

By the way here in Germany the marketing is very different from you mentioned in the UK with one battery and two motor options .... here we also have a 53kWh battery with an 111kW(151HP) motor, while there are two versions with 77kWh with a 168kW(228HP) and a 239kW(325) AWD.
The 350KW DC charging power is really groundbreaking ... over here we have a bunch of chargers which supposedly should be able to max out at 350kW, have no clue how realistic that is?
Since you don't have to stand in line for paying fuel at the petrol stations counter, you can check your mails, take a slash and off you go again.
In full re-gen mode, do the brake lights come on when you let off the throttle?
Yes
i testdrove the ioniq 6 and for someone who's on the taller side you might have some issues.
I think it's a fab looking car. Also, Crikey Matt - what are you feeding that thing 😂😉
Matt getting Crikey? Seems legit. 😂

@@SC-lb6cn a glorious one LOL
E-GMP platform peak charging rate is about 230-240kW, not 350kW. That's probably some communication issue regarding the fact that it can take advantage of the fastest 350kW chargers.
I love this car. I have already ordered it
When concept didn’t translate… the front design channel inspiration from the Tiburon
Congratulations you have been selected amongst my lucky winner, text me on telegram to redeem your gift....
And this is why I will always prefer Mat's comments overy Rory's from AutoTrader. Mat is just BRUTALLY honest and I am here for it.
I know the design is a bit marmite but hats off to Hyundai for doing something different. Too many cars follow a similar design trajectory and this imo looks far nicer than a Tesla model 3 - hands down.
Unlike most others in EV's Hyundai seems to know what there doing! They have good hardware and software and going straight for efficiency!
If BMW would ever release a shit like this, you all would jump and roast it and call it a 911 cheap rip off.
This highlights how dangerous it's going to become with drivers distracted by all the screens.
I once crashed a Kona EV because I was playing with the regen brakes and somehow forgot that the car hasn't completely stopped and rolled forward into oncoming traffic. Luckily it was just a minor fender bender.
Just look around, drivers get distracted by everything
Oh yeah, of course! It's the _screens_ fault if you're distracted! Officer, you need to understand: the screen forced me to look at it! It's totally not my fault that I ran over a family of five! Like, what was I _supposed_ to do!? NOT look at it? Don't be crazy!
@@DowncastParadox Some people are easier to distract than others. Introducing incentives for distraction could statistically lead to more distracted drivers. But sure, let's use ridiculous superlatives as examples.

Someone from the United States here… wtf 😳 are width restricters? And why is that a thing? What are you supposed to do if you can’t fit? Inconvenience the people behind you and do a lot of points to turn in that tiny road? 😮
It’s supposed to be for speed control. My car (as you can see in my pfp) isn’t that big but even I’ve had to squeeze through some of them. Can’t imagine vehicles like ambulances and caravans can fit through
Looks like a old school Porsche from the back 😅
Man I’m tired of these car companies copying Germans😪

Question, how does coasting lead to greater mileage vs one pedal recuperation? I thought recuperating energy would lead to increased mileage?
I really do love this car! Very very tempted to test drive one, would go well with my solar panels
I think a porsche 911 married a Mercedes CLA but Tesla Model 3 joined in.
Ioniq 6 still a 6/10.
Just under £46,745, I'll have two. This price is totally out of reach for most people and will be for years to come, I include myself in this.
That backend is minging! That's a lot of eurgh for 47k!
As the current TV ad says, it's not pronounced high-oon-die. It's hyoon-day.
Will you do a range test with the Ioniq 5 and various other EVs?
I’m not usually a badge snob and I love a lot of the cars coming out of Korea but I still don’t understand why Hyundai didn’t spin off IONIQ as its own brand like SEAT did with Cupra, especially given how different the IONIQ 5 was to the previous Hyundai Ioniq. They make all these fancy, futuristic cars with clean lines then stick on an ugly plastic badge from a 90s budget minivan.
They have genesis for that
Because it's still a Hyundai. I don't see it as a luxury car, not very sporty.
Because it’s the future of the brand
Didn’t think it was that cool when I saw the pictures but went to the LA auto show last year and it looks really gud in person
I have one name for the rear:
*INFINITI J30*
And I’ve always found that car absolutely BEAUTIFUL, mainly at the rear.
Does this car have in-built dash cameras recording feature? I am unable to find any mentions of that. Thank you
The back looks like a porsche turbo s
1:27 No,it doesn’t😂
The Ioniq 6 is coming? I think we’re getting our second shipment of sold out Ioniq 5’s in Australia shortly.
Ioniq 6 is looking nice
No
How can those of us without a UK postcode see your Ioniq 5 vs 6 comparison on CarWow?
Matt is demonstrating all what’s wrong with modern cars…..relying on tech (screens) to judge distances/loosing concentration and wandering across the road using tech (screens)……
Nah, only the mirrors are an issue
19:49 Whose Assistant went off too?😂
Why is the Ioniq becoming some of the nicest looking cars man. the original Ioniq was alright, Ioniq 5: gorgeous and the Ioniq 6 looks just as cool.
Agree completely regarding the styling. A pity it's not closer to the concept.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 have such a lovely and cool looking design!
Is there any point in buying that with new prices for Tesla 3 and Y?
I wanna see N versions of these cars
rm22e
I think top gear did one with the n74
Why do you always mention the bloody specialist timing gear? Every bloody video Matt!
For now the Hyundai EV Platform is the best in the middle class market (for EV´s), I love the design of the Ioniq5 I don't like this one at all, its like a mini whale, reminds me of a small version of the first Panamera, blunt and ugly. The back is...horrific with the 2 mini spoilers sticking out. What were they thinking?
Middle class, 47k for this, i have no surprise now, that there is idiots who are paying this for Korean crap that amount, i will laugh at every clown who will pay that for this garbage
The new Prius, looks way better.
I mean I would say the Tesla Model 3 is best in the middle class market for EV's, even though I dont like the Model 3, it still has more tech and is still more modern and premium, the hyundai is missing some basic features or a car. I would even consider placing the ioniq 6 under middle class.
Why don't they add a moveable bolster for those back seats like a bmw front but goes up and out???
The difference in terms of the 6's waist height compared to the Prophecy that makes it less cool. To be frank, it's one weird looking car!
in mid 2021 my dad bought a 2020 I30, while considering the elantra (but it was too expensive) and now, I think the ioniq 6 is the best looking hyundai they ever made
Hyundai ioniq 5 just launched in India🔥
Sharukh khan came in event to launch
I am currently driving an elantra N and I really want the ioniq 6... not sure it will be a possibility. We also need the camera mirrors in north america
I really like the design, way way more than the ioniq 5
I think a porsche 911 married a Mercedes CLA but Tesla Model 3 joined in.
Ioniq 5 is 8.1/10. Ioniq 6 only 6/10.

well, duh. have you ever heard of improving, R&D, making mistakes and learning from them, investment, etc. etc. and just all-round evolution?
that's not just the nature of korean car manufacturing brands but virtually everything in life.
@@lowkeyconvert8971 let me tell you their shady practices, in India, their Creta has scored a 3/5 star in crash tests, still it sells like hot cakes, their i20 has scored 3 stars, they consider our life inferior than other countries 🤬
@@piyushkanthak1087 there's probably more nuance to this. doesn't every respective country or continent set their own safety standards? ultimately, all car manufacturers have to abide by the standards of each country so it sounds like your government signed off on this and are fine with the particular safety standard for the indian market.
@@lowkeyconvert8971 well that's true too, the government here wants to promote safety but doesn't have any standards, currently Skoda VW, home grown companies like Tata Mahindra are the pioneers in safety here in India, Suzuki are even worst, you must be knowing about Swift, Ignis, they are India's worst rated cars😒

You should do an EV test drive which involves GRIDSERVE Braintree or Norwich forecourts that have 350kW chargers. Braintree actually has a 360kW :)
We are very happy with our Ioniq 5 😊 The value for money is very good, but I think I’ll keep my A6.
Why are concept cars always much better looking, than the production.
