What a pleasant video of a true customer having to make an important decision. Loved her personality and her real-life practical perspectives. i think this is a really important video, cause it corrects that misconception about seating position and visibility that seems to lead people to want a crossover. it's not about sitting up higher off the road, it's about how low the canopy comes down. both the ID3 and the model 3 have better visibility than the SUVs in this test, and apart from something like a mclaren 570 i don't think there's many cars with better front visibility than the model 3. your mom came in wanting an SUV, but after actually testing the cars ended up wanting the hatch and the saloon.
We need a car that remembers the adjusted car seat position after you start it - maybe even different ones for the most frequent drivers. SUV's for a higher seating position don't make much sense - because the higher hood doesn't offer more visibility. The VW ID 3 is ideal because of that - and still has a big boot - bigger then some SUV's

The Volkswagen was the more modern of the lot (even aesthetically), but the Tesla was from a superior category: though choice. However, the empty dashboard with the giant tablet it's a huge turnoff for me.
Absolutely love this video, she's a doll and trying to be so positive about each of the vehicles. Very surprising that an old(er) lady who wants an SUV loves the Tesla.... in many ways that tells you just how far ahead of the pack they've been. PS - she should be in every video!
I agree I like her opinion of these fancy high tech cars and having an older person review them from time to time can give folks a bit of an idea of what its like to jump into these new technology vehicles.
Well it's because she isn't American. Over here in Europe SUVs are stupid, pointless and waaaaaaaaaaay more costly than they should be (both to buy and to maintain). There is nothing wrong with getting a small hatchback or sedan if 90% of your driving is gonna be around the town. If you need a bit more spacious car, you can always go the estate way - plenty of choice there. Also estates are MUCH more comfortable on long journeys then tall SUVs. I regularly get car sick when i travel in some SUV; have no problem in any other type of car. And last - there is just NO POINT of an SUV which will never touch grass, sand or mud.
Yeh exactly. The issue with TH-cam is that it is full of enthusiasts. Enthusiasts make a minority of the buyers of cars. A normal person values different things like a big view out, how high the seat goes etc
Maybe this is why tests like this should be done, with all the vehicles PlastiDipped the exact same color. Preferably the favorite color of the buyer. And metallic, gloss or satin so they can see the curves of the bodywork.
@@migueljardim8177 if you care about backseats you'd get the Y. because of battery floor and no cutouts on the battery for the rear passengers' feet it feels like squatting when sitting on the Model 3. Theres very minimal difference in driving them. Just taller.
Your mum was just an absolute darling! I always thought my mum was the only one who puts a cushion on her seat. Got a fabulous perspective from her view about all the vehicles! So glad she won the Tesla in the coin toss, it will be a real treat to get her feedback on how she likes it!

@@migueljardim8177 if you care about backseats you'd get the Y. because of battery floor and no cutouts on the battery for the rear passengers' feet it feels like squatting when sitting on the Model 3. Theres very minimal difference in driving them. Just taller.
