@@AI-Records24 I'll write in detail. I live in a country where the main market for electric vehicles is used cars from an accident from the USA. By the way, we are among the TOP 10 in Europe in terms of growth rates of the electric car market. Our power system was destroyed by Russia, a month ago I personally had power at home 6 hours a day. And so on for 3 weeks. Our craftsmen disassemble electric vehicle batteries into autonomous power systems. My brother has specialized in repairing electric car batteries since 2017. In our country, every second technician at a service station that works with electric cars can disassemble and reassemble the battery. So here it is. 95% of craftsmen do not undertake the reconstruction or repair of KIA/Hyundai batteries. Even “live” cells from cars of these manufacturers are not used for home autonomous power supply systems. They are either worthless or dangerous. 1. In pursuit of marketing success, increase the permissible voltage range and kill a new battery in 2 years. 2. Allow recuperation at maximum voltages and, as a result, heat the cells. 3. Pack the cells tightly into bags so that they “bulge.” These are only 3 main “bugs” of KIA/Hyundai. I won’t continue, there are quite technical nuances there. Thanks, I'll go with Tesla for now. The second one, by the way. Before this, I owned 5 electric cars for more than 6 months.
So, all Tesla has to do is put in fake shifts and it's fun? They could literally do that with a software update. Being able to play engine noise through the speakers has been a Tesla feature long before Hyundai even had an EV
@@rustler08 it's not that easy, it completely replicates the ICE driving experience and was in development for at least 5 years and Tesla doesn’t have ICE experience. Probably the M3P has that bit figured out but it won work on any Tesla...
I wasn't expecting to buy an electric car so soon, but what sold me on the IONIQ 5 was Misha's video doing 2 laps in a row in nurburgring. This car is, at least for me, in my opinion, the only “affordable” electric car that has a soul and is fun to drive.

Weird by Tesla to give the US spec one 510hp and the UK one only 460hp (and Matt didn't use N Boost) - the US M3P has run 10.7. Still, two pretty awesome cars here!
Neither of those HP ratings are correct despite what tesla may say. The real values are 615hp for the US spec and 555hp for the ROW spec. The reason is they have two different batteries and the Panasonic from US spec cars can discharge more current so can make more power.

It's truly incredible to think that 20 years ago it was insane to see a sports car reach at quarter mile time in the 11 seconds. Nowadays an electric 5 seater S.U.V. made by Hyundai is nearly under 11 seconds (without boost mode too)!?! Honestly amazing how far technology has developed in the span of 2 decades!!!
@@karlk.6819you can’t just say “it wasn’t the fastest.” It was a multi-100k car made by two engineering powerhouses, and still didn’t reach the performance of these two cars, which sell for far less. As someone who has owned both a Model 3P and an EV6 GT (Ioniq 5N’s sister car) there’s really no comparison in how they drive. The Tesla’s open differentials means the rear tires easily lose traction and the only way it can put power down is by braking a wheel. Not ideal. The brakes in the Tesla also get cooked easily. The suspension is nowhere nearly as good either. Hit a bump mid corner and the rear of the Tesla gets unsettled. The Kia (and Ioniq 5N) just stick and go. They are more comfortable, you feel the rear differential pushing you through curves and the brakes can stand up to real abuse. The battery pack also doesn’t overheat after a few hard launches like it does in the Tesla. The other amazing thing is how there isn’t as much of a range difference IRL as you would expect. My Model 3P was a 220-230 mile car at highway speeds. The Kia and Hyundai deliver almost the same range but can charge 10-80% in 50% less time. Peak charge rates are almost identical between the cars but the charging curve couldn’t be different. Whereas the Tesla peaks and then drops to under 100kW right around 50% SOC, the Hyundai and Kia keep pulling at 235-240kW up to and beyond 50% and even by 80% they’re still chugging along at 150kW vs. the 3 which will be around 50kW.
@@rafaeldelrey9239 I owned a pre-refresh Model 3P but I’ve driven a new one. The battery pack, motors, and basic vehicle architecture are identical between the two. The main difference is the adoption of adaptive damping finally, and wider rear tires. On the road they feel very similar. The new larger rear tires give you more purchase for a hard launch but they still don’t have any sort of ability to overcome open differentials and even in comfort mode the suspension is still overly firm. Tesla cheaped out by not adding a rear electronically controlled differential. In the Hyundai and Kia when you are in a curve and hit the accelerator you feel the rear end rotate. In the Tesla it just plows with understeer and cuts power and tries to brake the inside rear wheel to prevent slip and force power to the other side. I bought the GT before the 5N was available. If it had been available I would’ve gone with it. It’s one of the most fun to drive cars I’ve ever driven. I’m hoping the upcoming refreshed EV6 will get some of the new features the 5N launched with. Even so, I still prefer the drive of the EV6 over the refreshed 3. Especially as a daily driver, the EV6 is far more comfortable, still has stalks for turn signals and wipers, an IR rain sensor so the automatic wipers are actually usable, surround view cameras, cross traffic detection, a HUD, and much more practicality with the hatchback vs. sedan trunk.

3. Pack the cells tightly into bags so that they “bulge.”
These are only 3 main “bugs” of KIA/Hyundai.
I won’t continue, there are quite technical nuances there.
Thanks, I'll go with Tesla for now. The second one, by the way. Before this, I owned 5 electric cars for more than 6 months.

Neither of those HP ratings are correct despite what tesla may say. The real values are 615hp for the US spec and 555hp for the ROW spec. The reason is they have two different batteries and the Panasonic from US spec cars can discharge more current so can make more power.

@@karlk.6819the 2006 F430 done a quarter mile in 11.43.
Did you own the new Model 3?

@@purwantiallan5089 Bruh, the car just released. You cannot say it's reliable when there is literally no data to support that
Did we watch the same video? Because I saw an overpriced Hyundai not even be able to really outperform the UK's M3P. Remember that the US gets a more powerful version due to the batteries, so what you're see is the weakest performance of an M3P.
This means that the M3P in the US is actually faster than the Hyundai while being over $20k less.
@@rustler08 you don't actually know anything about the 5N now do you? Unlike the M3P, very nice daily driver, extra turn of speed and nice handling, the 5 N is an actual performance car. No it's not in this video, neither is everything you bring in here about the M3P in this vid.
And untill we actually put these cars cars together, US spec, it's actually not clear cut. This is no foot rollout, no boosst button, no prepped track, no rear seats out, no light wheel, no battery prep performance. I wouldn't be surprised if they are roughly as fast. The M3 P US bit faster from a dig, the 5 N has it at higher speeds is what I expect. But in the 5 N is not about dragracing numbers, it was developed to actually perform well on track, and there it is literally miles ahead of a M3P... And it's actually Model Y size, so let's see what that one does once refreshed... I actually appreciate each of these cars, just don't think one is superior to another just because you don't know anything about the other car...
@@rustler08 I’m not in the US, so that’s what you get, of course the Hyundai is more expensive, but no one talked about the value for money.
I specifically said it’s the better performance EV, and that’s true
Next test would be the US Model 3 vs the Ioniq with boost button
US model 3's are doing 10.8's
Yeah the LG battery in the Shanghai model is a disappointment.
The best time i saw was 10.92 and the best time for the 5N was 11sec. Basically equal.
It was in Launch control mode, which is full power without boost button needed.
@@avis1978 best on dragy is 10.79 stock, 10.65 with seats taken out and 18" wheels

I wonder if the tesla would still manage to beat the hyundai on the emergency braking test if it was done repeatedly, since misha charoudin overheated the brakes of the model 3 half way through a nurburgring lap while on the ioniq 5 he managed to do two laps back to back with no issues.
Don't wonder, the model 3 brakes are not suitable for track usage. They kept the price low and build it for the road. For the 15k the N5 is more extensive, you can buy better brakes and track suspension.
Funny people have ran multiple track days with the new model 3 and the old one and nobody catches the brakes on “fire”. His channel relies solely on clickbait content and pushing cars till something dramatic happens so the gullible like you simply believe it without using your brain and thinking for themselves
@@Maarten_vdthe brakes on the model 3 aren’t the problem, but the brake pads are intentionally very soft for emergency usage only
@@hardywoodaway9912 Ok, i don't know about that, but I assume, someone who wants to race on the track can replace the brake pads then ;)
Brakes were always a problem for teslas. So much problems compared to other cars
Looking back, you might have tested versus dual motor Tesla, as in your one video it pulled away from the performance multiple times. Great video thank you

I’m an european Tesla M3P owner but this Hyundai… Geeeeeezzz it’s astonishing
Nothing to see here...
Ioniq 5 N already proved on the Nürburgring that is a better option than the M3 Performance.
It's also significantly more expensive and the Nurburgring is irrelevant to 99% of the population.
@@TecnamTwin If you want quality you have to pay for it, I have an Ioniq 5 and its far better than my previous Model Y.
I want to see a track battle between these two! Seems like M3P wins on Price and HI5N wins on Fun
I would also LOVE to see the HI5N vs Model Y performance Highland when it drops. ❤❤❤
Would be interesting to see the SOC of the cars, before races like this...
The Hyundai was 97% and the Tesla was 79%
The standard and long-range Ioniq5 are going for under £30k with less than 20k miles on the clock. Absolute steal!
They aren’t the N so no point in having one
I never wanted an EV…… until Ionic N! I need one!

Glad I'm not paying tire replacement bills for these guys!
Did use the boost button ?
No
They probably dont to preserve car owners batteries
He is in LAUNCH MODE, it is full power without limitation so no boost button needed.
The boost should have been used on the rolling start races where the entire 10 seconds could have been utilized. Apparently the boost is automatically applied when the launch program is initiated.
Should do a race with the battery 10% left to see how they perform then.
😁
IONIQ 5 N is the best EV out there right now. What a car!
Chinese people laughing at your comment
Bro is delusional 😂😂. The hyundai looks shit bro. The tesla beets it on looks, price and overall everything. Would take the tesla over it anyday.
I agree. My N due soon
@@ShadowSamaFN Electric cars are boring AF, Ionic 5N is the only electric car to have that manual mode which is fun. Looks are subjective, a lot of people hate tesla's and other electric cars but ohh boy that ionic 5n is loved even by electric car haters. I am a big electric car hater too. Hybrid makes more sense.
@@ShadowSamaFN lol,tesla looks like a toy
Tesla should add that reving noise and gear selection sound while your driving like the Oiniq 5 N
great ionic 5N
Nice way to start the day
Richard Simons, I started watching his videos a few years back after he had been on Carwow. Great guy and him and his team do some great videos.
😊🤗
This is a matchup I've been wanting to see, but unfortunately it left me with more questions that answers.
N-Grin mode - was it used on the Ioniq 5 at all?
Tesla battery preconditioning?
And yeah, sucks you guys don't have the US-made M3P - THAT is the matchup I'd really really like to see.
It's worth noting. The European version of the Model 3 Performance is considerably slower than the US version because of battery pack differences. Panasonic Vs LG battery pack
My US spec Model 3 Performance ran back to back to back 10.9 @ 123mph at my local NHRA drag strip.
foot rollout? prepped surface? Ok, buddy....
Your vids are the perfect length. Detailed but concise and to the point, without a lot of fluff, long preambles, life stories, etc. great job! New sub.
Never thought id say this but that Hyundai is a beast
FYI, the US version of the M3P comes with the Panasonic battery, versus the LG battery offered in non-US M3P’s. Basically the US M3P will have 50-70hp more than the non-US model.
"You're not that heavy" lol
How is every website showing 11 something for the Ionic and 10 something for the 3, but the 3 lost here? What was the SOC for both cars on each run? You really need to start including SOC on your videos otherwise they are shit.
Thanks @carwow Mat and Richard for the great video! Someone had to pit these 2 electric speedsters against eachother! So your results make sense, because the Ioniq N has a power to weight ratio of 29% (27% without the 10-second boost) vs the Tesla's 25%, but the torque to weight ratio is 20-21% for the Ioniq N, whereas the Tesla has 35%. That's probably why it took off quicker off the line initially but then got steadily passed.
However, what would be interesting is to see how the US version of the Model 3 Performance fairs against the Ioniq N, since it's got a power to weight ratio of 28% (510HP, 50 more than the UK version), which is much closer to that of the Ioniq N...They're both quick cars, but I'm surprised that Tesla reduced the power of it's EMEA Performance Model 3s vs the US ones...
Such a good video... Without even going into the handling, etc 😊
Carwow, you need to run it against the US version of the Model 3, it is noticeably faster than the EU version.
These guys are notorious for setting up bullshit races and not doing a proper accurate lineup
He didn’t press boost in the Hyundai for the extra 50hp so he actually did Tesla a favour?
@@ChristopherBennett81He's using the EU version of the Model 3 Performance which is slower so he did nobody a favor and a fucked up race video?

this is not the best 1/4 miles record for 5N i have seen on youtube, some youtubers managed to get straight 11.0s
Same for the us version of the Tesla. It can run high 10s.
@@davidsongood2627Both are fast it's as simple as that. The difference is the 5N and other true "performance" cars can be pushed to their limit around any track while the tesla can't even finish a 2 min lap without over heating. The model 3 is a one trick poney.
@@G82Watts Undoubtedly, the Hyundai has better thermals than the EU Model 3, but the US Model 3 has significantly better thermals than the EU one. More testing is required. The model 3 is very much not a 1 trick pony and can handle a hot lap or 2 completely fine. Check out "2024 model 3 Laguna seca" for evidence.

@@G82Watts I agree with you, but FYI, you have posted “poney” like 7 times here…
The rolling race with manual gears was surely lost due to him using 1st and not 2nd. He basically salmmed the throttle bounce the limiter and had to change gear, instead of linear pull in 2nd. He said it loses power and that might be true, but at least use the right gear for the comparison.
