Brothers, that amp has a beautiful voice, clean as well as overdriven. I can't begin to tell you how long I've been looking for an amp. I've listened to literally hundreds of them. I can hardly believe this amp is getting that kind of an overdrive without a pedal. If that's the case, I've found the amp I've been looking for... Magnificent clean and such a gorgeous and lush overdrive. Listen to me, you'd think I was trying to sell you one! As soon as possible you'll have another customer. That's a fact. And I can hardly wait...
Imagine how good it sounds in person! I had Keith at RedPlate build me a Blackline last year and it immediately became my #1 amp and I have sold my other amps!
The sounds/tones Allen is getting strongly reminds me of what the late Allen Holdsworth typically got out of his rigs. Damn noteworthy for sure in my book Two thumbs up without a doubt! 👍👍
Yep, if you can afford to just buy an amp to get whatever tones you might like - well, that's one approach - but it's an expensive one. I say get a really nice tube amp with adequate power, and then use select pedals to color your sound. It truly doesn't matter whether you achieve good tone with the amp or with pedals, but the pedals are specialized and a heck of a lot cheaper. I find that what works best is quality effects AND a good amp. And virtually every modeling (all-in-one) pedalboard effect units I've heard don't typically offer a quality RANGE of sounds, but some of them will be okay. Boutique pedals designed for specific effects are the way to go, IMHO. And as I am done with bleeding ears, I don't want to have to crank an amp to 11 to get overdriven sounds. My motto: Keep is simple, stupid! Most guitarists will do fine with about 3-4 versatile effects units. Too many effects, you dilute your sound, muddy it, have to constantly keep fiddling with it.

how does he have that set up ? is he running the pedal board through the front of the amp to get his reverb ?

+Alan David It's just the camera mic so it's mostly the combo (which has a G12-65).
Is Allen's amp voiced any differently from the standard BlackLine circuit?
