Nice amp, 10/10 for providing the schematic, other electronics suppliers could learn some lessons from this guy. For providing the schematic and good build quality I would buy one of these amps. Nice job.
I love to see workmanship like this. I looks to be impeccable. If you could upgrade the power switch and fuse holder, and put some big blue Atoms or F&T caps in the filter supply, I bet this thing would be as rugged as any of the great classic rigs of yesteryear. It's nice to see that somebody out there still gives a ****
Back in 1970, my Acoustic 160 had one of those jacks. I think the audio installation guy we bugged for info and parts called it a european phono plug. All we had was him and a BA store. I had to build my own foot swich and had a heck of a time finding the martching plug. In those days, Amazon was either a river or a sexy tough woman.
Thanks for the video Terry. Its to hard to see the function of the Tweed, Black, Brown switch. Is it only bringing in different grid leak resistors? Its an odd combination of construction. Beautiful lead dress and a gorgeous Mercury transformer, but with IC filter caps and the switched IEC power socket. I like the reservoir caps on the rectifier side of the Standby. A copy of the schematic would be much appreciated.
Redplate amps was started by Henri Heistand who has retired and they are now made on a one at a time basis by Keith Entriger. I have a special Overdrive Classic that is a D style amp with a buffered effects loop and Reverb. It is sensational with the build quality to die for .. If one comes your way , don't let it go !!!
Henry (H2) is a great guy ! He built my amp before he retired . Each build is really a custom build . Great Fender clean tones in a reliable small package that packs a dynamic punch !
Terry, that is a sweet amp. I noticed you didn't show the tube shields... but assume they are there, correct ? On the components, the only thing I see that could have been done better is to get rid of those Illinois Caps and use something better.. but overall a really sweet amp and extremely neat !!!! Thank you for showing it off man
Hey Terry not sure if you’re familiar with the phone app “CamScanner” I’ve used it for years and I’m sure there are others. However I can shoot a picture of any document and ether save it as a .jpeg or turn it into a .pdf which is very handy for what you did with schematic. As I said used it for years and love it!
Tweedyverb was designed as the ultimate ‘ grab n go ‘ amp . It has great fender clean tones . Presence control and reverb control can be turned off completely removing it from the circuit . Red plate amplification .Com
The reverb voltage doesn't give you more reverb control vs a standard Fender. The use of an audio pot vs a linear pot does that. That's what I do so it's not surf after 3 on the dial. Voltage has little or nothing to do with that
How is the switching from 40 watts to 17 watts max. output power accomplished since the schematic doesn't show it thus this schematic seems not to fit to the real circuitry?
Just a guess, but the 17 watts could be due to the 500 ohm cathode bias resistor which would greatly limit plate currrent. How the amp switches to adjustable bias is entirely unclear, but you'll never get 40 watts out of the 6L6s with that cathode resistor in circuit unless your B+ is like 650V.....!!! That 500 ohm k bias resistor would also cause a lot of cross over distortion due to Ip starvation.....I'm curious as to what the bias adjustment actually does, and since it says 70mV it must be across a resistor, but where is it in the ckt...???? Oh...and those IC caps are a no-go in my books...!
Hi Terry Greetings from down under in Locked down Melbourne, great amp and i guess you'll be getting it back soon so you can change those I C caps for F&T I cant count the number of them i have changed on the later Fender Amps Just rubbish why did they use them its a mystery to me? LOL
Yes, just one and it was amazing! I’ve tried some of their other products though and my impression is they’re real good at what they do over there, I love my Rivera compressor too!
Terry was only beginning to get the tones illustrated. This amp can sound huge and tonally flexible. I would put my TweedyVerb up against any stage amp.
I'm not liking the rubber-plastic front panel. It won't last 10 years. And the knobs seem too close together for my taste. The interior seems well-done however, except those IC caps. And I agree on the power module on the back. It's cheap, and not reliable. I wouldn't want a detachable power cord on a guitar amp. Once it gets worn out, the cord falls out easily. And that DIN socket...
It's just a tube reference, such as HotBottle, or FireBottle (two other boutique makers)..... When I had to name my amps, I just used my Nickname, and call them Mr. V Amplifiers

I'd love to see your analysis of the Tweed, Black, Brown switch circuitry !!!
It's good to have a quality review given the price. You get what you pay for.
Great name for an amp. What's next, the D-lab 'Deathcap' range!
Another happy D -lab customer!

Wow, that's the first left-handed RedPlate I've seen. Just as impressive as the right-handed version.
I didn't know they were that well built. Thank you for the overview.
The dog likes it, so that MUST mean it's good :D
The dog can hear all the frequencies that Terry can’t hear making him a perfect audiophile.
Super clean amp!!
Terry as usual great video thanks.
very cool, probabely i m your first Fan frome africa precisely frome Morocco
RedPlate has great customer service too.
Sounds great, I would definitely like a copy of the schematic if you don't mind

Use this guy instead of the other guy! He gives a much better demo.
Congratulations from Brazil.

Didn’t know there was a brand name ‘red-plate’ when I opened this vid, and thought you were gonna show something else, Terry, lol
Red plate? Easy! That's a leaky cap. wait? whaaaat?
I wonder what the amp would sound like with a GZ34 instead of the diode rectification ? Sure glad that Terry has Tele players at the homestead !
Can't wait for the Circus Board amp review - hard to follow a Red Plate amp review I'm sure.

I was wondering about that because I didn't see a rectifier tube.

sweet tone
Two questions
1. If it’s cathode biased, why does it have an adjustment pot.
2. Can you explain the 17/40w switching
Thanks Terry
Could that particular model have a pot in place of the cathode bias resistor?
oh i can see the pot on the schematic now i think. negative bias to the control grids i suppose?
Damn, what a pretty build....except their graphic design. I'd love to redesign that part.
You've been trusted to an amp which cost over $2000 new.
Terry is that good at what he does ! I would trust him with any amp reguardless of price

hi , can you send me the schematic of the redplate ? , thanks

Hi Terry- How can I get a jpeg of the schem??
Never mind, I figured out how.
Awesome
Have you ever had any experience with Rivera amplifiers?
Yes, just one and it was amazing! I’ve tried some of their other products though and my impression is they’re real good at what they do over there, I love my Rivera compressor too!
Awesome amps... but a repair mans nightmare... pretty much made the same way as a Mesa
Joby right on about that, luckily their customer service is good
Tommy Miner You’re good as long as ya got a warranty :)
Great amp but I think it would sound better in a bigger cabinet. Would also prefer to see traditional fender speaker types like Jensen or JBL's.
Terry was only beginning to get the tones illustrated. This amp can sound huge and tonally flexible. I would put my TweedyVerb up against any stage amp.
i think the stand by switch would have been better on the EHT centre tap
Ohhhh...it's a left-handed amp.
Tony got chops for days but I wish Marsha would learn how to play guitar and still serve drinks to Dlab.
Naming amp Red plate is like naming a car No va.
Show!
Who's the guitar player?
Chip Crooks
Thanks Sunflower

DIN plug not common? Guess you don't spend much time outside of USA. ;-)
DIN plugs and sockets are reliable.
Reliability, not availability
This is not a 6 v 6 amp. It is a 6L6 amp
Oops, I will update, sorry
Red Plate...... The name does not instill confidence, especially using 6V6's....
For the price there are many other options...I would pass on Redplate. To each his own, of course.
It's just a tube reference, such as HotBottle, or FireBottle (two other boutique makers)..... When I had to name my amps, I just used my Nickname, and call them Mr. V Amplifiers
@Sunflower Seeds Indeed that is a cool, toneful amp!
@@texanfournow What other options? I’m always interested in different amp companies.
