    This is my all time favorite intro tune of yours man, you really nail the slide sound with the LsL. Has helped me learn how to fake a slide better!

    The Tweed switch on the foot pedal takes you to the boosted Tweed position (most clockwise position 6) regardless of where the mode selector is.

    Great review ..!! thanks .:)
    awesome amp, too, tho I expected a bit more compression in the "tweed" setting
    I guess I am just thinking 5E3, and ignoring the other Tweed models
    I have noticed in the last couple reviews that that McCarty sounds a bit thin ..?

    Thanks for a very thorough demo of a super nice amp. Suburb playing as usual. Love the gold LSL, they make excellent guitars. What type of cab/speakers were used in the demo? (If you mentioned it, I missed it.)

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! Red Plate does good stuff for sure and yes LsL makes great guitars indeed! I used an open back 1X12 Redplate cab this time loaded with a Celestion Creamback.

    @ShaunTubbs If you had 1 to 2 amps in your stable, which would you take to be your end-all/be-all, your desert island amps, if you will?

  • @bradfordlaneromans2994
    @bradfordlaneromans2994 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi,Shawn. First of all,you are an inspiration with your beautiful playing and gentle spirit.
    I saw your demo of this Red Plate and the Bigtone. To my ears, the RP really does “sing”. It sounds more full, very touch sensitive,and has a wider fuller frequency spectrum. I’m leaning toward the RP Blackline combo with reverb( Allan Hinds demo blew me away). If stranded on a dessert island, is it Red Plate... or what?

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the kind words Bradford I really appreciate it! The RedPlate stuff is killer!! I used to think there was a "desert island" amp but it's become harder and harder to say that because there are just so many great builders out there anymore and at the end of the day, one mans "desert island" amp is another's "I would never plug my guitar into that thing". ;) I think you'll be very happy with the RP BL.

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha...Oops. Well even on a dessert island...

    Beautiful guitar work, your playing really inspires my playing. Thank you. And that is a nice, or bad ass amp. Syrupy sweet. Super expensive I suppose.

      2700 USD for the head, 2900 USD for the combo - so yes, super expensive...

      Thanks, Jim! I appreciate it! These amps are not inexpensive but they are highly crafted so you're absolutely getting what you pay for. Great company and really sweet humble people.

    Great demo Shawn as always - very informative - I'd be curious to hear what you think some of the lower to mid-priced amps like the
    Bassbreaker Fender series & some of the Blackstar amps - since most of the boutique type amps are outta my price range .... thanks ;)

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! One of my favorite amps that Fender does is the Blues Deville ML as a pedal platform amp. I haven't had a ton of experience with Blackstar amps but a friend of mine has one of the lower wattage amps and it sounds really good.

    • @chrislestermusic
      @chrislestermusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a clip of Billy Gibbons playing a Blackstar Artisan that sounds amazing. I had one and they are great amps. They do the affordable Marshall style amps really well.

  • @lowlandr

    At this point I'm pretty sure it's the "Indian" not the "arrow". He could make a jackercrack box sing.
    I would love to have a couple of hours instruction.
    Currently doing it the old fashioned way with the rewind button.
    Keep these demos coming I might be able to play like I want after 55 years :)

    The dresser in the background always cracks me up. Is it a studio or a bedroom. Maybe both! 😂

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahah, it's really not a dresser, it's chest of drawers that I've had for years. I keep all of my different gauges of strings and what have you in it. I used to keep it off camera but I have to get into it so often that I gave up and moved it.

      Shawn Tubbs /I got some black Husky mechanic tool chests from Home Depot for that purpose (pedals, cables, strings, parts etc...). Almost no space lost so highly practicle, durable and looks great in the studio.

  • @jimgrable4619
    @jimgrable4619 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Shawn, you recommend this amp to me before. How does the Redplate Blackline compare? Also, I am an AC30 fan. Other than Morgan, what do you consider an excellent AC30 clone or in that vain?

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't really have any experience with the RedPlate Backline. The one Morgan to check on is the JMI. That one is rare and sounds really good. The Divided By 13 ERT 33 is a really great vox style circuit as well but truly, if you want a great AC30 style amp, you can't go wrong with a Matchless DC 30.

    Red Plate should be pleased with this, providing you get enough people in your subscription looking at it. I know Allen Hinds raves about his Blackline and uses 2 live. Any comments about the Bluesmachine vs Blackline? This seems to have more options, but as I have learnt b4 more options is not necessarily a good thing! Pity it costs $400 to ship to me! plus 27% tax!

    • @ShawnTubbs

      Hey Robert, thanks for tuning in! I've honestly only played the Tweedverb and the Blues Machine which are very similar amps.

      I have a jrt 9/13 and a Redplate Blackloopverb 100w. These big amps with 6L6 are different beasts, not as ""colored''' but capable of very impressive tones and much greater presence. Mine does the Blackface up to the Dumble thing, lots of definition and headroon but much less forgiving, no whetre to hide.
