Hi Scotty, I just found a 2022 Lexus NX 350 it has 2000 miles on it, and it's $ 22000 with clean carfax. The dealership got it from an auction. Do you think it's a reasonable price, or is there something fishy?
@@rosastone9084 I don't think he answers questions here. Probably a repo. A lot of people would rather have a Toyota as they're cheaper, so a lot of Lexus end up falling to just above Toyota prices. Make sure it is a certified used vehicle and be ready to use that warranty at the first sign of trouble if there is any, and you're probably fine. Be prepared to walk away from the deal if you show up and then they throw a bunch of fees on top though, dealers sometimes show a great deal online then change it once you come in, hoping you will still want it.

I've mentioned before, but you are the reason I bought my '11 ES 350. I've owned her for about 3 yrs, and has 140k miles, and still runs amazing. I'm so greatful for your info , I got from you so many years ago. Thanks again Scotty.
I permanently take the plastic engine covers off all my cars first thing and keep them in storage. Opening the hood/bonnet just to look at plastic covers is stupid and they only get in the way when I want to check fluid levels, leaks, belts, connectors etc. The good thing is all my engine covers look brand new if I decide to sell, lol.
The first thing you need to check when you get those codes is to make sure there's enough oil in the engine and it's not sludged up. In my 26-year experience as a Toyota tech, I've never seen stretched timing chains.
I've had 250k- 370k on my fords and hondas when I sold them to get something different, andive never had to change a timing chain, but, I maintain my cars religiously
Scotty knows so much through so many years of experience it's a shame that all mechanics don't know as much as he does but that's what experience brings.
Scotty is great for basic knowledge, like keeping an older vehicle on the road for as long as possible, but he hasn't worked on cars in a long time. There are far more knowledgeable mechanics on youtube that are currently working on cars.
So, I found out that Leus actually engineered all those “beauty covers” to direct the flow of air *over* the engine to more effectively dissipate heat. Good idea to keep ‘em around.
How is there airflow to the engine when the air hits the radiator fins, then other parts behind the radiator, like the radiator lines, air filter, MAS, spark plug wires, carburetor? Like sensei corey said, they DON'T want you doing your own maintenance, like apple don't want shops to repair the iphones, like john deere don't want you to repair your tractor. Money is the root of ALL EVIL.
These are not just stupid beauty covers over the engine. On the bottom of the cover, there is often thick layer of insulation for sound dampening. And it works, can be heard at 12:33. Noise engine in my car is obviously different when I take this cover out - irregular noise (e.g. injectors) is much more exposed.
Es350 2007 changed timing & water pump, rear struts, radiator, alternator, gas cap cover, front bearings and bushes, rear layeral link & tie rod, engine mounts as it shakes… thats alot at 200k plus…just one driver and maintain regular oil and fluid ..oh and O2 sensor
The engine cover is for soundproofing, he just showed it on camera as soon as he was removing one with the engine running and the sound got louder. When you drive hours daily, engine sound ,road shocks tires the driver.

I bought an ES350 ‘09 almost 2 months back with 223K miles on it. Engine was rebuilt, and the inspection guy said that the tranny been opened but shifted and moved like a dream. This helped me get it quite cheap. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks after I put in 20W50 Toyota Motor oil on the wrong advice of the oil shop owner, it started acting out. I have 2009 350 es with a 120,000 miles and it is incredible! I just bought a 2015 350rx with 43,000 and it's like brand new. Bought the 2015 350rx because I didn't like how the new ones drive. I sold my 2010 350rx with a 114 ,000 because the 2015 350rx was a deal and lower miles. My 2010 350rx looked showroom new and drove like it was new! @HITMEUpScottyKillmerVIATELE-GR I am honored you saw my post! You are the only man I listen to about cars! Question for you should I change the transmission fluid in my 2015 350rx now at 44,000 ? In my mind change the fluid but not flush the system?
Classic example of common old age psychology - food doesn't taste as good, people are less virtuous, and they don't make cars like they used to. For a more objective view of car reliability just look at average auto age over time.
You can blame lexus for sealing the transmission up. Mine is a 2005 has a timing belt, but changing it was no real hardship considering the long interval.
If I could just get that stuck cassette out of my Nakamichi I would be thrilled on my LS400. I want to use my Sansa MP3 with an old school cassette > mp3 converter. All the orig Cats & 4 Toyota stamped mufflers are holding up after 301K
Actually had a guy who designs transmissions in Detroit tell me "life time" in terms of transmission fluid back in the 90s, wished I had followed that up with "define lifetime"

Hey Scotty, Enjoy the content... Would love to hear your opinion/see you do a video on the lexus TX 550 H+... The reason being is that it has a V6 engine with a strong battery and seems like it might be a true luxury engine, and best of both worlds....?
The 2023 ES absolutely demolishes the older ones. It’s called progress. The old ones were very well built with cool wood interiors for it’s time. They also have less features, power, mpg with worse handling.
I bet Lexus ls400 first gen is longer and last running than 2uz and 3uz has interference. I wish all of them UZ had non-interference. I believe that 1995 to 2000 1uz get damage in early because people don’t think that vvti-1uz look same from first gen engine. That’s why I see first gen engines on the road not like 95 to 2000 has lot of early dead. Also you heard that non-vvti 1uz put in the airplane in Lexusextrem website! That is first gen engine running in the plane for 18 years to now and 500 hours flying and stay rpm at 4,000 to 5000rpm!! That is ridiculous stronger motor!
also I have 1990 Lexus ls400 is so good! Mostly I change fluid all of them make them fresh running with amsoil fluid is so much better and very smooth.
I have a 2016 ES 350 with 115k miles, runs like a baby. I remember in another video you mentioned not to change the trans fluid if it running good. Should I still change the fluid?
I made a mistake and put conventional oil in my wife's lexus 4.7 liter v8 instead of the mobil one synthetic oil she used before ever since she bought the SUV. Should I worry about this mistake? or, How should I correct the situation?
Hi Scotty, My 2007 lexus is250 is showing a P0390 and is throwing a check engine and VSC light. I changed the cam shaft sensors but no luck. Whats next ?
Hi Scotty , I listen about the saburu crosstrek it sound could be a good car , I wonder is this car at the seat driver seats low because i don't like cars that sits low like a sedan , when rains I need to see how flooded is the streets , is just sitting low Iam not comfortable with sitting low.
Scotty!! I hope you see this, if you do I hope you’re doing great! I’m wondering if a Lexus sc430 a good car? I just got one with 170k miles 😬 what you think?
I have observed that when they started the so-called beauty covers is when they stopped making the engines look decent with nice valve covers decals etc. This was just a cheap way to hide a crappy looking engine it should have just had hinges on it and been a sub hood.
Ik right all the beauty is in the good engineering and build quality. Not some blank black or silver piece of plastic. I really don’t get beauty covers and their trend on getting bigger.
You in Tennessee Scotty???? I'd love to bring you my inherited 04 es330 to check out. Giving the trac off, vsc, check engine light warnings. I've replaced fuel cap and had autozone reset codes. They came back less than a week later.
😂😂😂😂 now I hooked up my fancy $5,000 scan tool I danced my wrists around in circles! Now it says that the ABS system is malfunctioning but we don't care about that and it also says cylinder two and three are misfiring but we don't care about that! 😂😂😂😂 FANCY 5,0000 DOLLAR SCAN TOOL is enough pay me my money for looking at your car waving my hands like this! " 👏👏" 😂😂😂 Everything is on fire 🔥🔥 ehh we don't care about that we don't have to pass emissions!! 😂😂😂 Tire has no air!? WE DONT CARE ABOUT THAT 😂😂
I have a 07 LS460L for about a year now at ~167k. I only recently noticed the "hesitation" issue with acceleration. Even at 25% pressure applied to the throttle it gets stuck around 1500-2500RPM and then "jolts" to 3000-4000RPM but cannot go beyond 4K unless I'm absolutely flooring it. However, when put in to the S mode (S3/S4 primarily) this thing drives likes a completely different car - a beast actually. Healthy response from the throttle and the engine revs to 5K like nothing which leaves me confused. Any suggestions on the cause, Scotty?
What do you think between a brand new Lexus ES 300h and a 2022 BMW 530i? The BMW is 3seconds faster with +40 horsepower and only 6mpg less than the Lexus. They say that those new B48 BMW engines are the most reliable ones out there and at the same time i'm concerned about the Lexus hybrid battery going down with the money you save from gas and maintenance in comparison with the BMW.
I'm using the 5W-40 Mob1 Syn FS for European Cars. It has increased Zinc per mobile 1 specs. I'm using in my RX330 and Camry...I should have started using it sooner.
Yeah but I love acura honda v6 is way better and more powerful and easier to work on it you don't have to remove intake to change the spark plug on acura honda v6 just the best and yeah they have timing belt but they are very easy to replace but a timing change cost more money and they are pain in the back

@HITMEUpScottyKillmerVIATELE-GR I am honored you saw my post! You are the only man I listen to about cars! Question for you should I change the transmission fluid in my 2015 350rx now at 44,000 ? In my mind change the fluid but not flush the system?
I owned a 2012 IS250, its been taking care like a baby, only complaint; lack of power….. besides that, excellent car.
I learn so much from Scotty! A knowledgeable and honest mechanic.
6:00 Dusty gauge cluster would drive me bananas. 😂
Classic example of common old age psychology - food doesn't taste as good, people are less virtuous, and they don't make cars like they used to. For a more objective view of car reliability just look at average auto age over time.
I love the LS Lexus. I'm getting one for my 39th birthday in Dec
You can blame lexus for sealing the transmission up. Mine is a 2005 has a timing belt, but changing it was no real hardship considering the long interval.
Thanks Scotty for the Ls 400 shout out.
Yup! Those engine covers make a nice garage wall fixture. I took off my Mazda6 engine cover at put it on my wall. Looks nicer.
Something about those half-wood interiors make me so nostalgic for the 90s and early 2000s lol. Beautiful car!
If I could just get that stuck cassette out of my Nakamichi I would be thrilled on my LS400. I want to use my Sansa MP3 with an old school cassette > mp3 converter. All the orig Cats & 4 Toyota stamped mufflers are holding up after 301K
I have a 2007 GX470. 134,000 miles. Pretty happy with it (so far).
Actually had a guy who designs transmissions in Detroit tell me "life time" in terms of transmission fluid back in the 90s, wished I had followed that up with "define lifetime"
You should have seen what a Timming Light looked like on a New K Car Engine. It varies a lot. I don't see how they ran at all.
If you're getting a newer car, how do you find one that has less problems over time? Time hasn't happened yet.
I live in NH, and I still took the beauty cover off the motor in my wifes 14 escape titanium..and of course it hasn't caused any issues
Scotty has got to be making a fortune from TH-cam. I hope so.
Every time somebody “clicks” on one of his videos he gets 3/4 of one penny. He is a millionaire.
He's been doing TH-cam for like 12 years. Dude's definitely a millionaire and probably only takes on cars for TH-cam content.
@@rodrogers6895 I bet he makes more than that
I think you only benefit from views, not subscribers. Just because someone has millions of subscribers does not necessarily mean they are raking it in. I'm sure he's doing fine, but I doubt he's making a fortune.
A cheapskate driver like myself will never get bored with driving my 23 year old Toyota.
👍Good jop finding the problem exactly what's it
those beauty covers also muffle engine noise, but at the expense of shortened component life, especially from heat soak.
Hey Scotty,
Enjoy the content...
I forgot about this trend of covering everything up. BMW, Mercedes, Audi all did the same thing with their engine bay back then.
Beauty covers reduce noise, ESPECIALLY in a big V8 Lexus, where people want a quiet ride.
I Take a 93 gen lexus with none interference motor over the 99 interference type any day. Got both right now.
Should I still change the fluid?
change it now or you're gonna have issues in the future
I made a mistake and put conventional oil in my wife's lexus 4.7 liter v8 instead of the mobil one synthetic oil she used before ever since she bought the SUV. Should I worry about this mistake? or, How should I correct the situation?
love your shows
My 07 is having issues too 😢 replaced the alternator, and it’s still not charging right
Have ls460 my engine kept having problems hesitation was mass flow sensors bad
Nothing is what it used to be.... My 94 Celica with over 345,000 miles on it is PROOF.
Hi Scotty,
My 2007 lexus is250 is showing a P0390 and is throwing a check engine and VSC light. I changed the cam shaft sensors but no luck. Whats next ?
My SUV gets 29 mpg combined, and 35 mpg highway at 75 mph. Oh, buy the way its a Subaru Forester 2023 boxer engine.
Hi Scotty , I listen about the saburu crosstrek it sound could be a good car , I wonder is this car at the seat driver seats low because i don't like cars that sits low like a sedan , when rains I need to see how flooded is the streets , is just sitting low Iam not comfortable with sitting low.
Use vise grip on the hood shock to hold up hood... maybe use two.
transmission change for just 500 USD ? That's hard to believe.
Just got a 2010 es350 with 115k miles should I change transmission oil? I looked at the maintenance history and it doesn’t show any, just oil changes.
The Question I asked the dealers on used cars: You did inspected the car. Did you correct any of the problems that you found on your inspection? 🤐
And they will lie to you: “Of course we checked it out and fixed what needed fixing.”
2000 RX 300 392k still going strong just broken rear wiper motor I could live with out it 😂
Ik right all the beauty is in the good engineering and build quality. Not some blank black or silver piece of plastic. I really don’t get beauty covers and their trend on getting bigger.
Scotty : how can I tell if a mechanic is really a "Master Technician" (Toyota). ?
You in Tennessee Scotty???? I'd love to bring you my inherited 04 es330 to check out. Giving the trac off, vsc, check engine light warnings. I've replaced fuel cap and had autozone reset codes. They came back less than a week later.
HELP! 2019 Hyundai sonata code P0090 fuel pressure regulator. How to fix and where is it located
The cover on top of the engine is made to keep the noise down. It really quiets up the ticking of DI
We ca handle a little noise...
WE DONT CARE ABOUT THAT 😂😂
as a 22 year old, plenty of things aint what they we’re literally 4-5 years ago
You’re too young to say that lol.
@@anthonyfuniciello1768 ive seen gas at 1.83 in az and ive seen it at 5.05, for 87 grade. that says enough
Any suggestions on the cause, Scotty?
service tranny on schedule?
Try running premium gas.
Scott what do you think about the mitsubishi mighty max and could you help me find parts
Scotty is so philosophical
What do you think between a brand new Lexus ES 300h and a 2022 BMW 530i?
The BMW is 3seconds faster with +40 horsepower and only 6mpg less than the Lexus.
They say that those new B48 BMW engines are the most reliable ones out there and at the same time i'm concerned about the Lexus hybrid battery
going down with the money you save from gas and maintenance in comparison with the BMW.
Stay away from BMW. Expensive to repair and money pits. Buy the Lexus.
I change my oil every 5000 miles with Mobil 1, hoping to avoid these wear issues.
I'm using the 5W-40 Mob1 Syn FS for European Cars. It has increased Zinc per mobile 1 specs. I'm using in my RX330 and Camry...I should have started using it sooner.
What do you think about the ford 3.7 Engine 2014
Can anyone tell me what brand of scanner tool hes using
The first one he used at 2:04 is a ThinkCar Platinum S20. The one he used on the second Lexus is an Xtool but I don't know which model.
@@skree_fpv436 thanks I will do some research on the Xtool, highly appreciate the info
Change those fluids and filters.
The cracks are from Scotty slamming the hood. 😁
😅
Yeah but I love acura honda v6 is way better and more powerful and easier to work on it you don't have to remove intake to change the spark plug on acura honda v6 just the best and yeah they have timing belt but they are very easy to replace but a timing change cost more money and they are pain in the back
I've been disappointed with Toyota lately. My 2020 Rav4 I bought brand new has had electrical problems from day one.
I have a 08’ es350 100k miles in RI, can I schedule an appointment to have it serviced by you?
Can you please detail what the replacement audio/mediacenter console was called again - I'd like to research further.
figured it out. Grom Vline Audio
🤪
How many Lexus parts can be cross referenced with Toyota part numbers?
I have a 2009 Tacoma the engine light came on how to get to go away
Hey Scotty, you don’t live in Tennessee anymore?
2007 is the best I have no problem with mine. But it depends how the previous owners destroyed it
2017 ford explorer xlt, thoughts on em?
