David Ha its easier to import cars from Japan. Getting answers and getting all the paperwork done correctly from a European importer is a pain in the ass. Meanwhile in Japan there are dozens of professionals inporters to help you.

ChaosphereIX The Lancia Delta Intergrale were made ONLY in left hand drive configuration that's why even the models in Japan,England and even Ireland are all left hand drive. Lancia had to sell 400 of these in order to compete in the WRC so they were never built with the intention of mass production in mind,it was simply to get them into the championship and nothing more. The car proved to be in demand and after Lancia's wins in the WRC and as a result I think over 40,000 of them were built(including the lower spec HF) Why they kept it left hand drive God knows but I'd imagine it had something to do with that crazy(a screwa them)Italian way and or the extra cost of making them right hand drive wasn't worth it. Without doubt, this has to be the best hot hatch ever made. I drove an Integrale some 20 odd years ago and the experience always brings back pleasant memories. What a car!
Both of which were down to timing as much as anything else. There's not a lot to say that the Lancia Delta wouldn't have been able to compete with the 205 given a little more time. Pretty sure Audi were only successful due to being the first to do 4WD. By the time anyone else caught up, they leap frogged them because they went mid mounted engine, which Audi refused to do. Perhaps it's valiant to stick to being more like road cars, but you're doing well if you beat a mid engined rally car with a front engined one!
It isn't about price. It's about rarity. A Lancia Delta (any of them) are more rare in the US than a M3 and that's what will keep this car's price higher. Very few M3's are as rare as this car.

FIAT got over-extended... they had just about the resources to develop cars for one upmarket brand and, when they acquired Alfa Romeo, FIAT ended up with two that in many ways overlapped. So they decided that Lancia had to go back to its roots as Luxury maker, and leave the sporty side to Alfa Romeo. This in the end became costly trimmed-up FIAT for Lancia, while Alfa got a little more freedom in the chassis department (the only saving grace of Alfas having always been that they were fun to drive and that, alas, cannot be achieved simply with a nicer front fascia). Unfortunately, you can sell crap to people only for a while...though it may take years, sometime, before the average buyer realises it (... see Volkswagen in Europe now... )
I know, I know . Having been born and lived there most of my life, I still follow the old country, so I know that VW is still perceived as quite a good brand there, even while the reliability data - at least in other markets - are abysmal, and the driving quality is often Toyotesque (and I do not mean Supra, Celica 4WD or Initial D's AE86 - like).
People take at least one car generation, to see that a marque has dropped the ball (or, conversely, that is doing better). Mercedes is on a downward spiral from the W210 onward (though the W212 E class are a nice pull back to better times, the various FWD are a disgrace), BMW does its usual job (.. a 3 cylinders on a series 3... ) and Volkswagen is overextended and fucked up brutally with the dieselgate (essentially killing the diesel passenger car in the USA, among other things). I am not sure about Toyota - its expansion has brought on models assembled outside Japan with less than stellar build quality, and the unintended acceleration case showed that their software R&D was atrocious. Honda is doing its cars, but has lost some footing on the technical side because it had to divert quite a bit of funds to rebuild factories that were almost destroyed during the earthquake that also destroyed Fukujima. Mazda is doing better than usual, and I am told that also the duo Kia-Hiundai (they are part of the same group and share parts and R&D) is on a roll. Anyway, if I can afford it, I hope some day to buy a Giulia. Reliability is nice, but an Alfa is an Alfa.
Well, to be honest Lancia weren't that good at making cars that sell to regular consumers. You know - sensible, reliable, fairly priced. I absolutely love Lancia, just like many enthusiasts around the world. But you can't deny it's easy to see why in general public didn't find the brand attractive enough to buy their cars. Every Lancia that's been great was exorbitantly expensive or just rare. Their complete madness and ingenuity produced some of the best racing monsters world has ever seen, but it didn't always translate well to their road cars.
Saw one of these at a rally in New Jersey, some guy brought it just for show. Very nice guy that knew a lot about the car, and definitely put a smile on my face for the whole day. Can't wait til the Evo 2's are legal here.
Hey Porsche engineers, could you please track down some veteran Lancia engineers and ask them how to make a four cylinder sound good and use that knowledge on the 718?
Put a decent resonator on it and you'll get rid of any raspy, farting tone. Think of an exhaust like a trumpet, the expanded shape from a resonator helps it, well...resonate lol
you need to listen to subie's and mazdaspeeds (with exhaust mods). they have a similar sound. i can only assume that thw Lancia has an unequal length header setup. thats a key component to that 'subie rumble' sound.

Finally! An owner as cool as his car. And in this case that's really saying something because he brings to the party a close relative of a world champion rally car, an ultra-rare Lancia Delta Integrale. Even with only 250 HP it's a blast to drive on the twisties and has Matt grinning from ear to ear. (Whereas a couple weeks ago Matt was all tippy-toes piloting a hopped-up Hellcat on a back road, and so glad when it was over.) Proof once again the pleasure is in the driving experience, not the numbers you generate.
Awesome stuff! Matt does a great job on the One Takes pretty much all the time, but his super-enthusiasm for the Integrale was just the best to watch, thanks!
This beauty is a dream of mine, my father's friend had an integral HF turbo ( a basic one with 170-180 hp Front wheel drive ) and i still miss it, such an experience, older cars had so much character to offer, newer ones just can't match them !
6 times world champion in a row. None could do that. It won 47 rallye competitions. Lancia Rallye crash (2 people died) in 86 changed the world of Rallying. Lancia, first car with a 5 speed manual gearbox, first car to ever own a V6 engine, first car to ever have an electric spoiler, first car to have both supercharged and turbocharged engine...and much more..Thats Lancia..This car is like Muhammad Ali or Bob Marley, or Ayrton Senna, they are gone, but they remain ligit forever.
Fun Fact: The HF symbol - the contraction of High Fidelity, owes its origin to the Lancia High Fidelity Club, which draws its members from loyal Lancia clients according to strict rules of eligibility which govern membership. The Club was founded in 1960 and the HF was taken as its logo. Lovely video!
I really like this video especially the way Matt was describing his feelings while driving the car. Then reading all the positive comments from all the folks who viewed the video just made me really happy! Btw, I too own an integrale.
I would be too if it was my baby that you basically can't get replacement panels for, or windshields, or some structural parts. Not like you can go down the road and get new parts [except a lucky find with an oil cap heh]
51ncc agreed, the Italian cars respond better the more you thrash them. Meant to be driven hard, and they reward you for it. Matt knows those roads very, very well but still I would be puckered!
Ben Chesterman Au prices are stupid though, crazy inflated. Look at the Japanese auction sites, and then calculate to NA. Not bad, could be had for around $30k if you look hard enough.
I know this sounds weird, but this is legitimately my dream car. It's always the first car I buy in any forza game. I was so excited when I saw you were going to be featuring this!
I would take this over so many cars, you could offer me something as crazy as a Veyron SS and I would rather have the Lancia. It's the epitome of what a drivers car should be.
Ho Lee Schitt!!!! That is SO COOL!!!! It sounds amazing; it looks amazing! I've always been a HUGE fan of these cars!!! SO happy you had this on your channel!!
i live in italy and in my village an old man oun a red lancia integrale. that thing look cool. in reality is actually very small and is low and wide. everytime i see it my blod pressure falls down. now i don't live there anymore and i'm so sad i never ask the man if i can be in the passenger seat. 14 years ago one was offeref to my father for 6500 euros. at the time it was just an old car and my father didn't bought it because he considered it too expensive. now a good one starts at 70000.
Non si tratta di una normale auto:E' UN MITO. Al solo vederla mi viene la pelle d'oca per l'emozione. My buddy in Italy had one of these when I was stationed there. I had 2 months of driving it and will NEVER forget it. So much turbo lag....but it handles amazing!
Easily one of the best looking hatchbacks ever made.
Wow...i scrolled down till like to the end...because the comments on this one are just a pleasure to read. Turns youtube upside down. That's how great this car is.
Love the Lancia, always wanted one, my mate had one in the 80s and whenever we went anywhere he drove it like he stole it, come to think of it maybe he did.
Lancia Delta Integrale 8 and 16V Turbo, THE QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Twin Cams Lampredi Engine!!!!!
Electronic Control "Magneti Marelli!!!"
10 World Titles, 6 factory, 4 Pilots, RECORD STILL UNBEATEN TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come On Italy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
💪🏻💚💪🏻🤍💪🏻❤️💪🏻
one of the best cars ever made
Damn....back in 1992 those cars were so plenty here in Greece.I was so jealous of those having them.
Him: well it does have the straight pipe that uh-
Matt: OH IT'S GOT THE STRAIGHT PIPE!
I'm a simple man I see a lancia and click like
Someone who worked around the corner from where I used to live had a Delta Integrale HF. Beautiful, timeless cars.
When one person who is videotaping it drives a McLaren... 3:09
"Videotaping." Fits the era the car is from.
I started fan boy-ing as soon as I saw the thumbnail. That's so awesome.
You're whipping harder in this than most recent one-takes. Fuckin hesh. Thanks Matt, you're a sav.
This, a 6R4, a Quattro Sport are all rally cars from my childhood. Damn! I am geeking out right now. Thanks Matt!
Sounds like it could be an STI's grandfather
Andre G this and the Mazda 323 gtx.
dont defile this car with comparing it to a piece of shit
Dondonian i never mentioned your car
Andre G
but I own an STI
Dondonian shouldve worn protection
Awesome stuff! Matt does a great job on the One Takes pretty much all the time, but his super-enthusiasm for the Integrale was just the best to watch, thanks!
On my short list of "If you could have any car" type conversion. This, or a 037 and I'm a happy man
This beauty is a dream of mine, my father's friend had an integral HF turbo ( a basic one with 170-180 hp Front wheel drive ) and i still miss it, such an experience, older cars had so much character to offer, newer ones just can't match them !
Hey Matt if you're ever in the UK I have an Evo VI you're welcome to drive.
I'm jealous right now, Farrah. I'm a massive Lancia fan and this example is lovely. This made my day a whole lot better.
Only the Italians can make an I-4 motor sound that cool.
Japans too, bitch.
@@zaebaniyunderground6260 Yeah, like Civics.. lmfao dude you fucking kid
@@zaebaniyunderground6260 stronzo
This Is the Fiat BIALBERO LAMPREDI, 12 times world champion
Friend of mine has had some amazing cars, got one of these and said its his favorite by far. I've ridden in it and it's a blast...
Lovely video!
man this is one of my dream cars!
I really like this video especially the way Matt was describing his feelings while driving the car. Then reading all the positive comments from all the folks who viewed the video just made me really happy! Btw, I too own an integrale.
this is awesome and i will add four more words - Harry's Garage Evo II :)
One of the best One Takes ever!!
Driving a Lancia and wearing a Radiomir, can't get more stylish 👌
The Integrale was, is, and always will be epic!
Always had a soft spot for these... Never seen one.. Awesome!!
i saw one in my hometown in martini livery)
That was freakin' awesome. I love the way older performance engines sound. So much more mechanical and analog. Perfect
Awesome iconic car. The guy in the passenger seat seemed super nervous about you whipping that car .
The not cheap . start at $80000 in Australia because the super rare
Ben Chesterman Au prices are stupid though, crazy inflated. Look at the Japanese auction sites, and then calculate to NA. Not bad, could be had for around $30k if you look hard enough.
Dude's right, the price of these things have gone up about 300% in the last five years.
14 years ago one was offeref to my father for 6500 euros. at the time it was just an old car and my father didn't bought it because he considered it too expensive. now a good one starts at 70000.
that's a bummer dude, don't worry opportunity may rise for you once again!
noiiaz96 you can probably find one for 50k. you will never seen one in good condition for less then that again.
Ave Delta.
The delta is a great car.
It would be even more amazing to me atleast to see Matt drive a Lancia Stratos.
Review Guy yes I would love to see Matt fit in a Stratos 😁
The amount of fun Matt was having driving this car put a smile on my face
Matt, you have lost all your marbles if you think I'm going to buy that sweater
I just ordered one. LOL.
I haven't been this excited to see a One Take in a while. GREAT FCKN CAR!!
Stratos for looks, integrale for speed
Stratos is fast as hell too, ever seen one on a hillclimb?
ChaosphereIX delta too, it's the legend of '90s/'80s rally.
Alex Missio that was my point, agreed
Don't forget the 037
11094DEREK never do, my second fav Lancia actually. Amazing machine.
So pumped you got one of these. Sounds awesome!
The day Matt Farah turns into the character from Test Drive Unlimited 2.
that's probably the best drive i've ever watched on here! can't believe i missed this when you posted it! thank YT for recommending :)
i dont think matt stopped grinning this entire episode!
i'm pretty sure he was still grinning 2 hours later ^^
I understand why he said" i was afraid it wouldn't be as good as i hoped" so many 80-90s cars fit that bill. (source: drove a diablo, its was a great experience, but a awful car)
What's worse, the day after driving a Diablo or the day after leg day?
My compliments and congratulations Mr. TheSmokingTire:
you are driving a Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo and wearing a Panerai Radiomir ... the top of the top
