I can't believe they actually rebadged a Chrysler as a Lancia and tried to sell it...
they faded ,people stop buying lancia´s ,fiat didn´t stop releasing them and lot´s of people not knowing what they were saying trashed lancia to the point of almost nobody buying them ,i bought a dedra very cheap and drove it for 9 years on the road ,wich never happened before with other car only gasoline and tires nothing else was needed, being a big car was very easy to handle and also very good off road, regards

This deserves a 9.5 out of 10 for styling. Few car makers make a hatch this fast & fun look so effortlessly sexy.

Wow! That's really cool dude. Thanks for the info.
I didnt even doubt that Doug made up some bs story. Thanks for the info man.
@@grtbgf I heard it was a reference or having a dig at Ferrari for being overweight, also Lancia gave Ferrari their Formula One car after their driver died and they withdrew from racing, it was well advanced for it's time, Lancia D50 I think it was called
He also got the High Fidelity meaning wrong: it was an exclusive club of owners who had purchased at least 5 new Lancias, organized by the brand with events, meetings, and of course many advantages for the members. In the early 60s the club members started to race their cars under the club's name until Lancia finally decided to race as well using the HF name as its reparto corse (racing division).
It must be noted that Lancia owners were mostly gentlemen at the time, to the point that Lancia made a small book and some badges called "Lancia chivalry" with a distinguished code of counduct for Lancia drivers on the streets.
hrgiyzueghe Lmao, Doug is just making stuff up. Come on man, hes losing credibility rapidly. Thanks for the info again. What he said made very little sense.
The “Integrale” badge is in blue & yellow because those are the colours of the city of Turin
Finally someone says it!
I realize it is not straightforward for someone foreign to know that BLUE and YELLOW are the colours of Turin, where Fiat was based and cars were produced, but there you go 😉
The comment deserves a Doug score of at least 7.

The tachometer doesn’t spin the opposite direction Doug, it just starts from a different spot on the circle. Makes it easier to see the revs when it’s at the top of the range, as it should be in a proper race/rally car
Doug never disappoints! xD
They could have made a 90 degree tachometer instead a 270 degree.
@@wino0000006 not really. Cramming ~8k rpm in just 90 degrees wouldn't really work.
My uncle's 1985 Ford Escort XR3 Convertible also had a tachometer like this. The top spot was the beggining of the redline, at 5800 rpm.
The designer of the tachometer probably had a math degree...
Car reviews on TH-cam are ten a penny, but what makes your vids so great, to me at least, is the quirks and features section. Generally all cars are built to serve pretty much the same function, but its the different approaches and details that manufactures put into their cars that fascinate me. Its what gives each car its own character. I adore the super exotics, but Im just as enthusic about the more everyday cars too, for all their individuality and mad little 'quirks'.
Keep up the good work!

That spoiler is set to "maximum fuel consumption", haha
What's even the point to put it in that position? It's completely vertical, at this point it's basically an air brake !
@@lptomtom I believe it acts as a Gurney flap, preventing the airflow from sticking to the back of the car, what would create drag and some lift.
It's set to maximum fuckboi.
lptomtom absolutely essential if you want the back end to twitch, that thing could shift especially round corners
@@lptomtom That's exactly what I thought too. Maybe it was coupled to the brake pedal originally. xD
The tachometer still goes clockwise. It just has another starting point.
You're right and it was made like that so when you drive fast the limiter area was directly to your visible area to the center of the cluster! ;)
And other corrections:
HF it´s for "Helefantino Formula" that´s why ther´s an Elefhant.
The pedals are not stock one´s, those are aftermarket and are fixed over the stock rubber ones
The flash light it´s a malfunction, very common on italian brands in the 80´s
The piece around the gear lever it´s a aftermarket piece from Isotta (aftermarket tuning company from italy), not a stock one!
The light at the trunk it´s also aftermarket and probably is connected to the wires of the external back light, that´s why they have to be on. The original Delta doesn´t have a trunk light
The side vent badge is also aftermarket. The stock ones are different.
So...you wait for the perfect example of a Delta Integrale and...you get the wrong one! Lol
@@marcobettencourt861 I dont know where you got "Helefantio Formula" from, but I have heard the story about the charging elephant Doug described many many times before. HF stands for High Fidelity, but it could stand for multiple things? Not quite sure.
@@erty2389 "High Fidelity" is the correct meaning.
"Elefantino" doesn't need the "H" at the beginning in italian and you can't find any information online because it doesn't exist.

I drove the earlier version of this back in the late eighties and it gave me a real kick to see Doug,s face light up when he drove it . Love Doug,s reviews as he picks up on things that most reviewers miss and his in depth knowledge is always interesting . Top job Doug .
I know, it's the nerd in me talking but... HF stands for High Fidelity, a Lancia owners club run by the factory back in the 60s. You needed to have purchased at least 6 Lancias (later was 10) to get an emblem from the factory (with a star for each Lancia you had), then overtime it was used in the Lancia Fulvia and became a symbol of Lancia's most sporting models. An about the elephants, Gianni Lancia chose an elephant as a good luck token for their first competition cars because in Eastern mythology a running elephant (with its tusks up) signifies 'victory'...
Never clicked on a Doug video so fast in my life. This is my dream car.

Doug... HF means high fidelity, but it's, since the 60s, the name of Lancia owners club. That has an Elephant as symbol and blue and yellow as colours. That's why the badge HF has an elephant and the "integrale" badge is in blue and yellow. Just take a look at the Fulvia HF. Oh, and the tach is spinning clockwise and it's upside down because in racing you need to see the top part of the rev range. Bye!!

😂😂😂
Classic Cars 3D Yeah, and how many times did he say “perfect”.
It's perfect _for a 1980s Italian hot hatch._
Doesn't matter how good it is, it can't beat, eg., a modern supercar.
The DougScore attempts to encompass the entire car industry, so, 7/10 makes sense to me.
You gotta remember it’s competing with cars like the laferrari and Bugattis
@@Jesse__H Fun is a subjective concept and it's not at all obvious that a modern supercar has to be more fun. If it was obvious, you wouldn't need to drive it, but you'd just look at the stats. He didn't say it was fun for a 1980s hatch, he said it was the greatest hot hatch ever, and his driving experience confirmed it, so it males no sense to me to say it's less fum because it's older. It's like leaving the cinema and being totally impressed by a classic movie but then giving it a lower score because it "can't compete with modern blockbusters" (the effects, the picture quality etc).
Interesting fact: The wings on WRC cars and homologation cars such as this, has nothing to do with downforce. It's actually there to prevent the car nose diving over jumps. Of course it produces downforce as a side effect but that isn't its purpose.

Full Alcantara interior, Doug says: "Lancia was so cheap...."
Ferrari had manual windows too, it's weight saving not being cheap.
hrgiyzueghe back in the days, people didn’t need “gadgets” to appreciate a good car. Nowadays, if it doesn’t have 11 ways adjustable Bluetooth connected refrigerated led armrests, it’s “poorly equipped”
Yes but if it was to save weight, I think the point he was trying to make is, instead of doing it on just two doors, why not all 4?
@Carlos Diaz I’m italian and my father bought a new 1990 Fiat Tempra wagon. Top trim, a fully loaded (for the time) family car, and it had power windows in the front and manual in the back. We were just “discovering” the power assistance on everything, especially low price range cars like Fiats. The point is, in the front there’s always somebody, in the back just the children, sometimes. They don’t need luxury :)
It also also the norm in Europe at the time. In European reviews of the era it was common for people to specify whether or not electric windows were fitted to both or front and rear, front only or not at all. Hatches in Europe were (and are) family vehicles, so it was generally regarded that the back seats are for kids, with the parents up front, so the back usually did get less creature comforts (and less stuff for the kids to play with / break). Personally also I don't see the point. Front electrics are for the driver to be able to lower the passenger window from their seat to be able to see clearly if the window has rain or frost on it, and to be able to put their own down in one quick press to pay for parking / tolls / drive-thru etc.
also cheap
I love how you keep saying "ask the passenger nicely". Drivers should never forget their place in the food chain! :)
I had an HF turbo in the 90s, couldn't afford an integrale. It was more at the mechanic guy then on the road but I still loved it. It's 30 years picture still on my fridegerator door today

It was the equivalent of the "Smart for 2" (but with 4 seats) back in the sixties and it was a typical female car. Not a car anyone, apart young girls/ladies, would fancy. The fancy ones in the 60/70s were Alfa Romeo (like the small but powerful 1300 Junior) or, staying in the Fiat area, the Fiat Dino 2400cc or, to keep it small, the Fiat 600 Abarth or the Ritmo Abarth in the 80s

ImmortalInflames omggg that was this carrrr
very long easy right, easy left, easy right, over jump!, wow!, caution hard right!
played shit out of it in the day.
Always chose this car lol
This is great, more 80’s/90’s cars like this please Doug, can you try find an Escort RS Cosworth to review?
And an Audi Quattro.
I can guarantee you it's got a very distinct smell
And a Sierra.
The escort cossworth gen I, that is the sweet spot... I have seen those taking in acceleration easily the m3 e36 with 321cvs cause those first escorts cossie had over boost and over 280cvs...
There’s one in Portland
Doug, it was really very standard for European cars up to the late 90s- mid-2000s to have hand-cranking windows at the back and electric up front - even my dad's 1988 W124 Mercedes-Benz 260E had wood trim, leather, aircon, electric sunroof... and manual rear windows!
Imagine I once saw this parked in a garage in Madison Wisconsin. I literally was gonna ask the owner if I could just have look inside.

"The feeling of the steering is PERFECT, JUST PERFECT!"
"Handling gets a 7 out of 10..."
Uhhhhhhhhh...
Steering feel is just one part of the handling. Grip, balance, adjustability, predictability all come into play.
@@jochem1986 All of those things together make the experience of a vehicle's steering tho. Not the first time 2 opposing statements are made in these videos.
Sunnewer Toolow 7 out of 10 is actually a really good score if you take into account that he is comparing it to million dollar exotics
Emperor Gad exactly. A ten would be like a formula 1 car or something, just absolutely perfect.
@@Mr.Marbles Well he said it's perfect. And even so, in the case of a Formula 1 car it wouldn't feel perfect on a public road because those cars are not made for public roads.
Which implies that the entire scale of 1 to 10 for these scorings is flawed and getting a 10/10 is impossible. Doug does a good job obviously but he's very inconsistent on important details, kinda rendering the list pointless.
I had one of these in the 90s, not the most powerful car, but the best driving experience. Ever. Had so many hot hatches, M cars since and nothing compares. I looked at getting another one recently but was disappointed but not shocked by current prices. Brilliant car.
"Once the elephant gets going, it's very difficult to stop"
me: "Brake failure?"
"Only has 215 HP, but this car only weighs 2900 lbs! Who needs more!"
"I wish this car had an extra 50 HP" ... "just needs more power 7/10!"
Classic Doug
I was thinking the same thing... Lol . Another 50hp would be quite a bit considering it's relatively light weight, but what car wouldn't change completely with another 50hp?
you could get that 50hp with some N0S
@@Cosigner22 I am sure there are plenty after market solutions to get out another 50hp or even more out of this car ;)
@@Jafmanz You don't need NOS. The waste gates are configurable for up to 400 bhp. The problem is that you then pay a significant price in reliability. Integrales are much more reliable than you would believe possible of Lancia if they are left in standard tune.
A friend of mine had one for 2 years, bought 2nd hand. No more than routine servicing.

"Consider the fact this car weight only 2900 pounds"
*considering in European*
About 1300kgs. More than I expected honestly
It's heavy for such a car, without modern safety feature, gadget and equipment.
I just searched and de HF Turbo, 1.6 litre 140hp euro spec was around 1020 kg.
@@plakclub I don't believe it weighs that much. That's a full sized modern sedan weight.
svetko05 he converted correctly. I don’t know if you mean Doug is wrong or the guy you’re replying to
I loved the Lancia Delta. You have no idea how great it is till you drive in the Italian mountains at speed. I loved racing against this and others on the weekends. I usually drove an Alfa Gt 1600. It was not uncommon doing 100 mph on the mountains and slide them in the corners.
I like to watch doug drive and review all these cool cars than if I got to just see them in person and drive them myself so good job doug
Dude - THANK YOU. This is one of the greatest cars you ever reviewed. Lancias of the 80s and early 90s are friggin' legendary.
Dude this just taught me how to fold my Lancia Delta HF Turbo's seats, thanks Doug.
Same ahahah ahahah
hahahaah
aH Ha Ah hA hEE
*HAAHA HA AHA AHA EEHA*
Do you really have Lancia Delta?
10/10 for me in the looks department! Up there with a F40 and Lamborghini Miura (though obviously for totally different styling reasons).
Amazing car and still looks great, owned one back in 90s with a right hand conversion unfortunately the cam belt snapped and destroyed the engine had to have a completely rebuilt sold it on after that expensive fix but wish I had kept it
I was on vacation in Italy with my 1986 944 turbo, when I raced one of these in Martini livery on the autostrada, the speed he left me behind, was amazing. I was ashamed, I thought my car was fast.... beautiful car, these Evo2’s...
bertie perret you probably lost because u had a Porsche 944 😂💀
theurbanwarrior007 that isn’t funny, thats saying your an asshole that doesn’t respect classic cars.
thanks@@yaseenyasir2504, this was more then 25 years back in time. again, my point was, that this Lancia was very fast. we drove from Holland to Italy, roadttrip me and my girlfriend then (now wife), best vacation ever!
bertie perret nice memories when back in time Autostrada were racing courses 🤣 cheers from Italy!
I expect the Porsche didn't rust to bits 6 months later
in italy we call this car "La Regina" ("The Queen")
Davide Cironi's video on Lancia Delta is pure porn
What a great name!
or more friendly, "Il deltone" (the big delta, the top tier one)
We call it "Deltone". Meaning "big delta"
It's definetly a bloke love haha.
I had a regular Lancia Delta, and it was great.
Of course I love the Integrale (and the HF) - but I'm not into cars and I never dreamed of having one.
Still lovely to see it featured here, good job 👍
Reminds me of Massimo 'Miki' Biasion. This car takes me back
Sega Rally championship , integrale , celica and stratos , i used to play this game in the arcade 25 years ago!
FUSION ROUSH Original Sega Rally was so good, cars were actually twitchy! Later version was dumbed down and unresponsive by comparison.
Obligatory GAME OVER YEAHHHH
check my channel video with a WORLD RECORD time at sega rally! thnx
I freakin loved that game!
They sill have Sega Rally in some Dubai arcade game places!
In Italy it was often called "Deltone" (Big Delta). No need to explain why! I always loved this car.

Diobo che storia il deltone, era la macchina prediletta per le fughe dagli sbirri assieme all’alfitone
Great video Doug!
FUN FACT: Veglia is the name of an Italian clock maker. thanks for the vids, Doug!
3:15 You know a car's Italian when the badge in the steering wheel is not centered
Hey, we made stuff by hand back in the days.
It's an optical illusion.

Doug is the type of guy who can pronounce Lancia but not Peugeot.
How do you even pronounce “Peugeot” with a French accent?? I know the way Doug did it, and the British way cuz of top gear, but I’ve never heard a Frenchman say “Peugeot”

I’m the guy that lovingly washed the RS2 you recently purchased up here in Canada. I actually just performed a nice wash of an HF Integrale as well.
Hey Doug! About the window cranks, I can add an addition to cars that have manual window cranks in the rear seats. The Opel Zafira. My family has had ours ever since 2006:)
