    I think your are the first to criticize the implementation of non necessary buttons until now! (Maybe because this IS actually an honest, unaffiliated review and it shows!) You never disappoint with your videos! Well done! One point I'd like to make is that, for the price, I would expect the AP switches to be magnetically released, like IRL. That would be sth to stir the waters in the market and justify the price against the Winwing!

      Thanks for your feedback. That is just about my largest complaint some of those buttons have no business being on the base of the throttle being that they are only used once during a cold start. I agree TM should have done something revolutionary and electronic release would have done the trick.

    The button click that is under the throttle can be used for commbinng it with the rdr cursor axis to be used as rudders, if you dont have feet rudders, with this commbination you dont need to leave your hands from the throttle.
    This is probebley an easy method .😊

    The Jammer On/Off switch (Time Ref 6:33) is for simply turning power on the ECM Pod. This is a separate function than the CMS, which allows the Jammer Pod to Emit jamming-trons. Consider it like a "Master Arm" Switch of sorts for the ECM Pod.

    • @AviationPlus
      @AviationPlus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know. Just not sure why someone want a physical switch of the jammer power when all that is really used is the CMS (stby and consent) while flying.

    Actually the knobs in the F-16A cockpit learner at the Airforce museum was very hard to turn. I guess they don't want you to accidently move a knob.

      Milspec switches are typically a lot clickier and a lot stiffer than consumer switches. Remember that they're supposed to be used under Gs and with gloves on.

    I just purchased this throttle too. I also not like the pre-built knobs and switches. There should not be any switch that you click once while on ground and not touching anymore (like rwr buttons, cat config etc). It should have been customizable (I mean labels). Other than that, it feels awesome. Cheers.

      Ya buttons on the base could have had a much better selection. I can always change the labels with my warthog I used a piece of paper to label stuff. If they would have asked the community it would have been better.

    Thanks for the info. I havent bought it yet because I still use the WARTHOG. The buttons are too close to each other and and it too compact for me. If it bounces when you use afterburners then its a critical design error especially in a high octane dogfight enviroment. The Viper needs improvement that I am sure off. Fantastic review.

      I have had the throttle for a few months and tipping has not been a problem.

      @@AviationPlus looking forward to it.
      For my part I am not so much interested in the quality but the final button configuration you have chosen for yourself and how secure the base rests during long action filled flights.
      Personally I would have preferred an updated COUGAR throttle, i.e. standalone product with USB connector and Hall effect sensors. Idle and AB detents could have been transferred from the WARTHOG. Make a package deal "new COUGAR throttle" + "VIPER PANEL" for 400 USD/EURO and it would sell like crazy - IMHO.

    Just a thought: Since you record quite a bit of video, perhaps map the Radar Azimuth Z-axis to start/stop video capture.

    • @AviationPlus
      @AviationPlus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well usually when I start a mission I just begin the recording and don't touch it until I am done. I have mapped the z axis for the comm switch to take a screenshot. I still have not thought of what to map the z axis of the ant elev and the man range knob. Thanks for watching.

    Nice honest review. A question about the throttle roller when it crosses the point at which the two arched guides meet… is there anything noticeable?

    my warthog throttle died. cant be turned on for some reason (yeps my mistake long story). mostly i fly F14 and F16 and F18 too.. soo... are you recommend me to buy this throttle or just buy the warthog again. ?? fyi i live in indonesia. the only one store are just trustmaster we cant buy from winwing and vkb. my country prohibits that

    • @AviationPlus
      @AviationPlus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you fly F-16 more I would get this throttle but you will then not have two throttles if you fly the others. I would get another warthog throttle it is more versatile based on your aircraft choices.

      @@AviationPlus after i watch many more review about this throttle. and then i find a funny fact that the mounting base on this viper tqs are plastics and look not quite sturdy. then i am not flying F16 more than F18 / F14. and of course i am waiting my F4 Phantom which is 2 engine. soo looks a like i am stick with warthog :) thanks for the response dudes you deserve more sub

      I have heard that the mounts are not sturdy on the Viper TQS and I am thinking about getting desk mounts but at the moment on the desk works fine for me at the moment. Glad to help!!

    Good and informative review, thank you!
    I am curious though, did you consider the WinWing throttle? And if you did, why choose the TM between the two?

    • @AviationPlus
      @AviationPlus  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I knew TM was going to create a Viper throttle at some point and never really looked into WW. My Warthog setup was perfectly fine and there was no rush to upgrade which is why I waited. Thinking about it now if I were to get the WW I think I would have been sad that I did not get the TM one. I have not had any problems with TM. Being that WW is stationed and ships from China doesn't make me want to get WW even though it is cheaper.
      Not having the build the throttle out of the box is a huge plus for me with TM.
      Thanks for your question.

      Where do you think TM products are from? I know it feels better to know their warehouses are in here, but we can't justify the difference in price.
      Because they are an established brand here and were mostly the only one on this niche market, they think they can get away with any price they want, with no regards of the competition (and their customers pocket).
      I am saying this because the exact same thing happened in sim racing, where they were ahead with Logitech, when now their gear is seen by everybody as overpriced and outdated compared to newcomers from China in particular.
      I want to have a choice, and not depend only on chinese stuff if TM dies because they keep losing touch with reality.
      Unfortunately, this is something we have already seen many times in our industry, and this is just confirming the trend.

    • @AviationPlus
      @AviationPlus  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@farcydebop7982 I am aware of where TM is made but it is a choice I am willing to make to get it over WW. Yes we are paying for the TM name but with out me purchasing a WW and just going off of what I have seen and watched I like TM throttle and base better. I fly the F-16 and don't plan on flying anything else so this one throttle really checks the boxes. I want something that is specifically for the F-16 and not well rounded but missing key features of the F-16. I used amazon points and gift cards for my TM viper so I must say that was nice brought it down to $354.

    More detail and presentation that many other videos
    Not that I will buy anything other than a grip on a pot sensor anyway, heh
    Does the throttle feel nice to hold for an extended period of time? That is the material and the ergonomic shape

      Yes the throttle feels nice the only thing is the HOBO switch wish there was more space between there for my fingers but I am getting used to it very quickly.
