    You do realize you can just remove the bendy bit on the omni throttle?

    I use two omni-throttles ( L&R) and love them... My hands just lay at the right angle for me anyway. Had to replace a 5-way hat (A3) though after only about a year..

    Thanks for the review. I'm about to dip my toes into the hotas/hosas world and am considering just skipping the entry level stuff, but dont want to cough up for a Virpil set. These seem to be just the thing I'm looking for.

    Quite honestly the best review of these sticks I've ever seen something you forgot to mention as well is all the sticks standard and premium can be upgraded or downgraded easily you can go from a standard to a premium for about $40 with a kit that they sell that replaces the buttons and adds a rapid fire trigger and the omni throttle can actually be convert it to a straight up and down stick but again and you can change out the springs in them as well to change the tension for a more personalized feel of what you like like I said this was a great review I'll be sharing it with anybody who is looking to pick up a set of nxt's

    The omni throttle for me personally sounds like something I would be using, some of these space flight games if you turn off assistance you need to keep pressure on your ventral thrusters to keep a hover. I can see the twist in this direction really helping keep things smooth.

    I have the same pair and agree on most of your points.
    I love my omni-throttle, my flying and combat in Elite Dangerous has improved sins i use it, thanks to the more precise use of left right and up down thrusters using the roll and twist axis.

      Hi there, and thanks for your comment. I too like the omni throttle, but I definatly felt more comfortable with the x52 pro throttle .. In the future I may try getting another NXT EVO Grip for the left hand and do a direct comparison as the Right grip is perfect .. !

    Nice review, well discussed with honest points made. I'm a Virpil person (originally driven by the fact they have a UK store so no import faff) and my Stick, Throttle and Rudder peddles are more in the gunfighter range. I have a desk set up and used their desk mounts (I searched around for alternatives) but am really happy with the build and ability to customise (different metal cams and springs on the stick and clutch adjustment on the throttle and stick) but appreciate these are the next bracket up
    As a new commander also I'm enjoying your tutorials to learn stuff I don't yet know.

    Interesting to see a review that actually criticizes it a bit.
    Have you seen VKBs throttle? It looks good, but i feel like the omni stick is probably better for space/6dof games.

    I do agree - the X52 throttle feels so nice and ergonomic ! ... but after a decade, it has to go snd can't be replaced since it's the old saitec one (not the bad continuation of Logitech).

    Atm i have a TM Warthog but i dont find it to great for ED so ive been looking at this setup. Would ya say its better then the warthog or worse due to the plastic contruction and layout?

    Very nice review, indeed. I have the exact same combo for about one year too. I have a question for you... The height of the Omni throttle became an issue for me, mostly because of the stress put on my left shoulder for not being able to properly rest my right arm while playing. You see, I have the exact same simple setup... A chair and a desk. I developed some serious neck pain and had to ultimately stop the right stick for a while. My question is: Did you do some specific exercises to strengthen your left shoulder? I see, by the video, that your left arm posture is very similar to mine while playing with the Omni throttle.

      @silentangst7742  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, thanks for your comment .. The only thing I added was a padded riser onto the arm rest of the chair. Im not sure which game you play, but with Elite Dangerous fortunatly you spend quite a bit of time in stations or looking at boards where you are not actually fighting. The riser effectively raised the height of the arm rest so unless I was in intense combat I could rest my elbow on it which would relieve pressure on my shoulder. Hopefully that helps !

    •  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@silentangst7742 I play mostly Elite Dangerous too, and sometimes No Man's Sky. Thanks a lot for your advice, I'll try something to raise my armrest!

      I use a pair of Alpha Primes (left stick has z adapter) for hosas work and sometimes use the Virpil throttle system as well, for normal flight sim shit. Very similar design and usage to these VKB units. To address arm fatigue I have them on brackets to the desk level with and directly in front of the armrests on a Titan Evo chair which has padded armrests. Chair is slightly raised to accommodate Buttkicker attached to center post, an accessory I highly recommend for games and movies too. I bound the vertical thrust controls (Z axis) to the left stick twist function. More importantly, I bound throttle controls to a couple buttons on left stick, ie: 100% throttle, 75% throttle. This makes it work like a normal throttle controller where you can set throttle and don't need hands on holding it there. Just let the left stick center itself and simply press the button for the speed you need. Sit back and watch some more silentangst YT videos while you cruise to your far flung destination for the mug. Simply move the stick to cancel and override throttle to what you need. Previously used a X56 hotas on a powered usb hub, which I really enjoyed, as well. VKB and Virpil are both clearly superior tho. Enjoy!

    I'd be interested to know what (if any) changes to your setup/bindings you'd make if you were using the straight grip on the left as well. Would you still take the spring out for the Y-axis?
    It's a bit of a shame that they don't just include the conversion kit in the box with the omni.

    • @silentangst7742
      @silentangst7742  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, Yes I would def take the spring out so it would be like a throttle .. I havent tried it of course, but I just feel if I had the grip of the Right hand stick on the left I would pretty much keep all the binds I have now (Although I am doing another video soon about my keybinds to see if I can get any better suggestions .. !)

      A "regular throttle " would work almost better on Elite but if you plain on playing Star Citizen the omni is a huge step up over a regular because of the flight model.
