When Rama tossed the pistol it was empty. The gun was loaded with 1 round, he used it on the guy he took it from. Revolvers don't automatically eject their spent shell casings, so the 1 bullet you saw in the cylinder wasn't a bullet, it was just the empty shell casing.
fun fact Dredd was actually filmed a year before, but was released later after Raid. thats why most ppl say Dredd reminds them of Raid. both of them are great, love the confined premise of the sets.
Happens sometimes with movies - remember when Olympus has Fallen and White House Down came out in the same year. Or The Prestige and The Illusionist. There was also Antz and A Bug's Life. With Antz and A Bug's Life, it was deliberate. As far as I know Olympus was in development hell while the script for White House had film productions clamoring to make it a film so Olympus was fast tracked to beat it. With The Prestige and The Illusionist, it was a coincidence. More like people on Hollywood predicted what would the upcoming trends be.
As fun as Dredd is, the Raid was definitely the superior film out of the two. Redefined the action genre and inspired new levels in shows and movies for years to come (DD, John Wick, etc)
I love both flicks but I feal like The Raid is more real life as Dredd is more of a scifi feal which the original is but I really enjoyed the hole escape feature because you're already going on a police raid that's intense enough then you get there and now you have to kill to get back out amazing movie 👍
It is important to know that this movie had a 1 million USD budget which is next to nothing for an action movie of this quality. The Raid 2 has a 4.5 million USD of budget and just that difference makes you live a whole other experience when watching it, enjoy your watch!

The film that defined action movies of the 2010's. IKO UWAIS and GARETH EVANS = Perfection There are a ton of incredible behind-the-scenes videos of the making of The Raid and The Raid 2. well worth checking out if you're interested in how all of the fight scenes were pre-viz'ed, rehearsed and shot.
The raid is hands down one of the most influential action films of all time, revolutionized the industry. The raid is what forced Hollywood to actually put effort back into action choreography and ditch the egregious quick cuts. Without the raid we wouldn't have john wick, daredevil, winter soldier, etc. look like how we see them. Hell, I even remember the later seasons of Agents of Shield out of nowhere starting having some serious action choreography. Even if you personally have never seen the raid, 100 percent the directors of your favorite modern action movies studied the hell out of it.
IKO start his close-combat action movies in "Merantau". The movie released in 2009, and the choreo is not different with The Raid. The fighting style itself using Indonesian Martial Arts which is called Silat.
Fun fact: JJ Abrams originally brought The Raid cast members into Star Wars Episode 7 in order to choreograph some of the fight scenes, but Abrams thought their suggestions were too violent, so their role in the movie got reduced to a cameo. Iko Uwais once talked about this in an interview with Men's Health.

Y'all aren't ready for The Raid 2, it's not only better than the first, but it expands and grows this world and story in such a beautiful way and with even crazier martial arts action. @25:19 This may have already been pointed out by someone, but that revolver had no rounds left in it. What is shown is the one round that was fired. The primer on the case even shows the dimple of the firing pin strike.
The 2v1 fight is my favorite fight scene ever. People talk about the kitchen fight in the second one, which is great, but there's something about the 2v1 that feels perfect and just inches out the ones in the sequel for me.
True, the first The Raid final fight feel so raw, so brutal and the sense of hopelessness is so high in that fight, usually in action movie we just don't worry about the main character chance of survival. But that's not the case in this movie, especially in this fight scene. We really feel the dread and really worry of the possiblity that they're gonna get killed. They almost didn't make it and have to fight dirty to evening the odd. It kinda reminds me of the final fight of Lethal Weapons 4 where Mel Gibson & Danny Glover have to fight Jet Li, they start doing fist fight thinking they have the chance because it is a 2 vs 1, but when everything goes south they start fighting dirty and even using a gun to ended the fight when they almost at their last breath.
To be fair having just watched it last night…Rama was doing the most on the offensive and Andi was only coming in with the takedowns and defense. Andi must not have kept up his fight training and was trying to box Mad dog but nothing was landing for the whole fight (he was being beaten up beforehand to his defense) so it really was Rama vs Mad Dog ft. Andi
This film is based on director Gareth Evans' love of Indonesian martial arts (silat). Gareth, who was making a documentary about Silat, met Iko Uwais (Rama). Gareth invited Iko to make an action film. Iko and Yayan Ruhian(Mad Dog) are skilled silat artists. Meanwhile, the cool Joe Taslim is an expert in Yudo and Kung Fu martial arts. And he has acted in many films outside Indonesia, such as being Sub Zero in the film Mortal Kombat.
Rama, Jaka, and Mad Dog (dude who fought 2v1) all practice Pencak Silat. Mad dog (real name Yayan) and Rama (Iko) are instructor/choreographers and they choreographed this film.
The cast is absolutely amazing! Iko Uwais has since starred in Man of Tai Chi, Snake Eyes, Wu Assassins and will be in the new Expendables 4. Yahya Ruhian is in John Wick 3 and does an amazing job fighting Keanu Reeves. Finally Joe Taslim... Not just in Fast n Furious 6 but also our very own SUB ZERO in the new Mortal Kombat movie.
❤❤ You two make a great pairing to watch movies with! I love it!! Raid 2 next on the list please? 🥺 It's my favorite movie Raid 2. Outstanding fights, intense scenes and characters! I love IKO Uwais in every movie he does!!
This was an instant favorite when I first saw it. So much so I had to buy both movies. Mad Dog was my boy! I know he was a bad guy, but dude was wild. His fights got my heart pumpin like I was in it. Glad you guys watched & enjoyed. Hope you continue onto the sequel.

You two showed a great chemistry, gave genuine and informative reactions, and I'd like to see more of you two together. In my opinion the 'ear' guy lived through as a proof of Rama's determination to protect his comrades, even if he is already crippled and helpless, as opposed to the 'no helmet' guy who only thought about himself.
If I remember straight Mike Shinoda worked on the score for this movie, also yes the Daredevil tv series was definitely influenced by this as well as Arrow
I just come from a video where there is a dude with glasses explains about differentiation, after just 2 minutes, my head starts to hurt, so I decided to come here and freshen up my brain... Good God...
John Wick is good, but this is still the gold standard. The story is simple, but the movie continues to escalate the tension and action. It is a perfect blend of raw action and CG action/blood.
YES, FINALLY. I’ve been hoping you guys react to this movie. I can’t wait for y’all to see The Raid 2. It's easily one of, if not the best martial arts crime drama movie EVER. Iko Uwais is an absolute BEAST. It’s a shame he hasn’t really been able to do more high-profile stuff like other martial arts actors (Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jet Li, Tony Jaa etc.). He's the protagonist of a Netflix series that came out a while back called Wu Assassins, but I don't think it got too much buzz. I would’ve loved to see him in Fast & Furious, John Wick, or even Mission Impossible. Heck, he would’ve been awesome in Mortal Kombat (2021). Joe Taslim (who plays Jaka here) was in F&F 6, Mortal Kombat (2021), and the Max series Warrior. And Yayan Ruhian (who plays Mad Dog here and another character in The Raid 2) was in John Wick 3. But, I would love to see Iko Uwais face off against Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Jason Statham, or even Simu Liu. Although the movie was too bloody for my tastes, him and Joe Taslim killed it in The Night Comes For Us.
I was just saying the same thing on an Expand4ble review - Iko Uwais and Tony Jaa are modern legends, and the newer and bigger budgeted movies are just not showcasing their talents/skills or better movies they deserve. Every movie should be bigger and better for them and for the fans.
@@brianng8350 I guess he just needs people who really know and understand martial arts fight choreography and how to film it. Someone like a Chad Stahelski, Destin Daniel Cretton, and obviously Gareth Evans. If he can just land more high profile projects with people like that, he can blow up as an action star.
Roxy's "man" played SubZero in the Mortal Kombat film (2021). Why haven't Gareth Evans, Iko Uwais, and Yayan Ruhian made a Hollywood film with the three choreographing the actions scenes. How hasn't this happened yet?? Best choreographed film of all time.
Iko Uwais start his close-combat action movies in "Merantau". The movie itself released in 2009, and the choreo is not different with The Raid. The fighting style itself using Indonesian Martial Arts which is called Silat. So, I think there's no big Dredd reference in this movie, at least not the fighting choreo.
fyi, your man (jaka) is played as subzero in mortal kombat and fast furious 6. rama is played in expendables 4 and miles 22 with mark whalberg. mad dog (small guy who kills jaka) is played in john wick 3 with cecep (you will notice him in the raid 2) they are also played in star wars
This is the 3rd reaction I've watched and all 3 said the same thing when Rama killed the guy with his own revolver checked the cylinder and then tossed it. Nobody realized that the gun was empty, that 1 round that was in the cylinder was just fired, so it's now just a paper weight.
Some schools in Indonesia practice Silat, which is used through out the series by literally everybody that had a fight scene, there are many styles of Silat, the director Garth Evan’s came to Indonesia to bring light to the martial art, and eventually created this cinematic masterpiece.
Jaka's actor played Sub Zero in Mortal Kombat 2021. He also had several international movies; The Swordsman 2020, Fast Furious 6, Warrior 2019 (Tv Show), etc. Watch The Night Come For Us 2018, also bad-ass movie with intense action
Springtime of 2012. Following the buzz and it's debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. This was the next new phenomenon and we wanted more. Very few theaters had it. But the DVD, On demand markets made sure it was available for major viewing. In those days of the 2010s, Guerilla filmmaking at it's finest. Iko Uwais and others physical dynamos involved with this are still the future of action.
There's one really neat and sadistic touch they added during the main fight at the end after they stick the broken lightbulb into his neck -- Every time they cut to a new shot and the fight continues, they refill it with blood, so you see it pour out somewhat in each shot.
If you think this movie is badass, part 2 takes everything to the next level. The action scenes, more drama, cinematography, scale and a better more involving story. A bit slower, and more story but those action sequences are gonna blow your minds. Fun fact: the guy who plays mad dog is the fight choreographer for 1 & 2 and he plays a different but almost as badass character in part 2.
By the time I first finished this movie I was actually sweating from exhaustion. And somehow even though Disney and Lucasfilm got the guys that played Mad Dog and Rama to play the leaders of Kanjiklub in The Force Awakens and had them get eaten by a Rathtar like a couple punks. Also if they need someone to play Vegeta or Frieza in a live action DBZ movie they need Mad Dog.
You know the action movie is so good.. if you can feel the pain. And any other action movie feel slow after watching this. The fact: in John Wick they hired this Mad Dog and ask him to move slowly to sync with other actors.
This is indonesia movie and the actor is iko uwais he was athlet pencak silat martial arts of indonesia.. And he made the cheography without stuntman.. So all the action is "silat" its look like wingchun but different.. Maybe later u can check on google about pencak silat.. Dont forget watch the raid 2,the night come for us, merantau 2009 that's iko uwais first movie... Also mile 22 with mark golberg.. I forget to tell, the man who fight against rama and his brother he is the teacher of silat at indonesia and also USA.. He have skill no matter how hard u punch him he can survive, u can check on TH-cam when he collab with some youtuber indonesia when he try hold the punch or kick 😅

Mad Dog is such a badass villain. If not for that glass tube, he would have 100% won that two on one fight.
Andi
Yaya Ruhian (Mad Dog) plays surprisingly sympathetic but still badass character in "The Raid 2."
The first time I saw this movie, I thought it was the greatest action movie I have ever seen. Then I saw the sequel.😂
Joe Taslim is also in the show warrior
❤❤ You two make a great pairing to watch movies with! I love it!! Raid 2 next on the list please? 🥺 It's my favorite movie Raid 2. Outstanding fights, intense scenes and characters! I love IKO Uwais in every movie he does!!
This was an instant favorite when I first saw it. So much so I had to buy both movies. Mad Dog was my boy! I know he was a bad guy, but dude was wild. His fights got my heart pumpin like I was in it. Glad you guys watched & enjoyed. Hope you continue onto the sequel.
Still can't believe he lost to John Wick... hahaha... Still the most unbelievable part of the movie...
Wasn't he the fight choreographer?
@@andrewevers2420 yeah the fights were choreographed by Yayan & Iko.
@@brianng8350to be fair john wick a lot taller than both of them 😂
when john wick using his belt im laughing its look like he just discipline his kids lmao 😂
Trivia :
-Jaka was in Fast 7
- the Raid 2 deeps dives more into the hierarchy of this gang
- the main actor is also in the latest Expendables movie
I always found the triumphant crescendo as he's being violently murdered hilarious.
Andrew being on 2 of my favourite reaction channels ❤
I’ve seen so many people finally watch The Raid thinking it is overhyped. Only to be completely blown away.
If I remember straight Mike Shinoda worked on the score for this movie, also yes the Daredevil tv series was definitely influenced by this as well as Arrow
Hands down one of the best action/martial arts movies. The fightins style Iko Uwais/Rama uses is one of the most badass in medie
I just come from a video where there is a dude with glasses explains about differentiation, after just 2 minutes, my head starts to hurt, so I decided to come here and freshen up my brain... Good God...
Thank you for introducing us to jew 1 and jew 2, I was confused at first but you cleared things up greg 🙏🏻
So, I think there's no big Dredd reference in this movie, at least not the fighting choreo.
fyi, your man (jaka) is played as subzero in mortal kombat and fast furious 6.
rama is played in expendables 4 and miles 22 with mark whalberg.
mad dog (small guy who kills jaka) is played in john wick 3 with cecep (you will notice him in the raid 2)
they are also played in star wars
Mad respect for Mad Dog. Dude's a beast
Roxy with the Jadakiss reference. Love it!
Yeah, I honestly did not expect it.
This is the 3rd reaction I've watched and all 3 said the same thing when Rama killed the guy with his own revolver checked the cylinder and then tossed it. Nobody realized that the gun was empty, that 1 round that was in the cylinder was just fired, so it's now just a paper weight.
Loved the jadakiss reference by Roxy
This movie score is composed by Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) and Joseph Trapanese.
When come to martial action, the raid level up my standard to the top, their martial art really high level.
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
"can a human survive their neck getting snap?"
Maddog be like "🤭"
This movie and Dredd were actually filmed roughly around the same time, apparently it's just a strange coincidence that the plots are so similar.
Always a good time when reel rejects upload, love from 🇮🇩
Iko uwais is a badass
In the Raid one of the
Greatest martial artists
Goosebumps moments
In every scene in dis🔥🔥
Mixing Dredd, Ip Man, and John Wick is a great way to describe this movie.
They're FINALLY WATCHING IT
Such an awesome movie,Joe Taslim is also really good in Warrior.
Warrior is a great show
yes , movie that remind me early days of reel rejects channels
Time for Roxy to start watching the tv series Warrior as well as the movie The Night Comes for Us if she wants more of Her Man™
Finally you react to the Raid Redemption. It is so good👍😁
If you think this movie is badass, part 2 takes everything to the next level.
This takes me back to when I first found your channel! I love it!
Thanks for your reaction, from Indonesia 🇮🇩
I remember when the first time i watch this movie, i was worn out!! This movie is intense AF!!❤
I just love that no matter what you guys are watching, Baby Yoda is in the back smiling.
Such a awesome movie y'all should watch part 2 🔥🔥🔥
40:10 "This is like a jail cell fight"
Wait till you see the sequel 😂😂
You've seen nothing until you see The Night Comes For Us. My all-time jaw-breaking film of all time.
Yess
One thing..... xD
The music was done by Joseph Trapanese and Mike Shinoda! Shinoda is a member of Linkin Park. Known for his rapping parts.
Next movie list i recommend
- The Raid 2
- The Night Comes For Us
- Headshot
- I Saw the Devil
Can’t wait for you guys to watch 2!
13:20 great pun! 🪳
Welcome to My country ❤
Roxy should see Joe Taslim (Jaka) as the main protagonist in "The Night Comes For Us" (2018).
This film was great! The film has great and insane fight scenes! 👍
Yup every scene gave me goosebumbs 🔥
The bullet in the gun from the hallway scene is the one that was shot, since its a revolver, the casing for the bullet is not ejected after firing.
I wish I could like a video more than once. This is great entertainment for me. THANK JEW SO MUCH
I’d love to see Roxy in her own Raid type movie. She could pull it off!
