Broh now you must see Kung pow Enter the fist... you will die of laughter!!! (Sorry mi English i'm from San Juan Argentina) my regards, brother! I really enjoy your content!!!!!..
I've loved this movie since I was a kid, it's hands-down the most hysterical movie I've ever experienced. No matter how many times I watch it I just crack up, so glad you guys enjoyed this one!
This basically like anime in live action, super powered characters that channel their energy chakra through the ball making it a lethal weapon. It's also amusing how Puma must had endorsed through the movie, like the fire kick by the lead actor towards the enemy goal look like a pouncing Puma!
The guy who plays goalkeeper is the same guy who plays axe gang boss in kungfu hustle movie. He also actually play Bruce lee in 2008's The Legend of Bruce Lee and Ip man movie you guys should check this out!
This movie is a treasure. I saw you guys were discussing connection between this movie (Shaolin Soccer) and Kung Fu hustle. Both movies are directed by Stephen Chow. Both movies are focused on Kung Fu and Stephen Chow's signature comedy. Many actors from Shaolin Soccer appear in Kung Fu Hustle. However, in Kung Fu hustle, there is a big reference (a nod) to Shaolin Soccer movie. Remember when Stephen Chow's character goes to that small town and kids are playing Soccer? He shows some soccer skills but then stomps on the soccer ball (destroying it) and says "No more soccer". You guys obviously enjoyed both movies and that is why I would highly recommend watching another Stephen Chow's signature comedy movie The Mermaid. Can't wait to see you guys reacting on that movie.
Omg! This is my childhood’s top movie all time. The uncle in the show actually the one who takes him to this industry and make him popular. It brings back good memory of mine. Thanks ❤
i remember watching this in the cinema with my then girlfriend. i was laughing endlessly throught the movie. and after so many years, i've rewatched this movie from time to time and became more amazed by how good the movie is in terms of the storyline, characters etc
Steven Chow's funniest movies are the movie he made in early-mid 90s, namely Fight Back to School, Flirting Scholar, Love on Delivery, and From Beijing with Love. However, these movies were made before Steven Chow tried to go international, so there were many Cantonese/Hong Kong-based joke. I don't know how funny they would be after translation.
Shaolin Soccer is the best movie ever made. Kung Fu Hustle was great. But this movie is eons ahead of its time by a margin!! Thanks for the reaction. Had a fun time watching it with y'all!!
The female lead here, Zhao Wei, did a pretty good job in Mulan: Rise of a Warrior(2009) as the titular character. It's a gritty war movie. Edit: Kinda wish people had seen that one instead of the Disney live action one.
Stephen Chow got a lot of inspiration from the Japanese soccer manga/anime Captain Tsubasa for this movie. His character in this movie wearing the the number 10 shirt is a direct reference to Captain Tsubasa where the main character also wears a number 10 shirt. The powerful shot taking the defenders into the goal is a common imaginary in that series too. The whole shots turning into a tiger thing is a 1 to 1 of Captain Tsubasa's style as well (there are lots of animal shots in that manga, not just tiger, but the main rival to the protagonist in Captain Tsubasa uses a Tiger Shot so that's another homage to it). If you are into the whole physics defying and "that's not how you play soccer" thing you should check it out.
So funny thing for years I kept seeing Captain Tsubasas name and not knowing what it was while at the same time remembering a show from my childhood called Super Campeones so imagine to my surprise when I one day realized they were the same thing the latter just being the Spanish dub of Captain Tsubasa I also watched Inazuma 11 because it had similar vibes I remember one kid spamming the hell out of his fire tornado kick
@@DanielGonzalez-vo5ni If I'm not mistaken Captain Tsubasa was very popular around the world back then in countries where football/soccer was huge like in Latin and South American countries, but obviously they changed the names and all that. But it's much less known in English speaking ones because soccer is unpopular in the US which meant by extension the other countries couldn't get dubs of it in English as anime for most English speaking countries are just treated as a subset of the US. Also the original Inazuma 11 was said to be inspired by Shaolin Soccer, it's very poetic where everything came back full circle.
Captain Tsubasa was popular in India too. Although India isn't a Football loving nation. Infact a lot of old school anime was popular in India back in the day like Doraemon, Pokemon, The jungle book, Kochikame, ShinChan, Ninja Hatori, Daigander, Card Captor Sakura, Ranma 1/2, InuYasha etc. to name a few
Freakin love this, remember watching this like many years ago with my brother and our friends we just keeps on laughing the whole time. Then we started doing Stephen Chow marathon
The best times of my childhood/preteen when we my friends and neighbors went to a friend's house watched Shaolin Soccer and we just laughing out loud with tears and after that went to a grass field trying to copy the moves playing around went home buised, eat dinner and sleep peacefully with still a smile on the face.
Honestly thought this movie was a fever dream 😂 I remember it being one of my favorite movies as a little kid. This brought back so many memories and it’s still funny as hell
I like how the majority of the cast is speaking Cantonese except for the girl, who's speaking Mandarin. And Steel Leg Sing would be the only one to switch to Mandarin when speaking with her too.
And pretty much this movie brought back almost every actor and actress Chow has worked with in his has comedies. God of Cookery, King of Comedy, Forbidden City Cop, Tricky Brains, Chinese Odyssey 1 and 2, From Beijing With Love and so much more! Love this movie!
Uncle Tat n Chow are like dynamic duo of comedic genius in HK movies, especially comedy movies. I remember watching their roles as undercover police officers in Fight Back to School series. They were hilarious.
There’s so much Stephen filmography to pull from. I think my favorite is A Chinese Odyssey. Both part 1 and 2. He always infuses his movies with heart. That’s what makes them great. Incredible comedy and an earnest sincerity that often tugs at your heartstrings. Also don’t miss God of Cookery and From Beijing with Love.
This movie and Kungfu Hustle are my favorite Stephen Chow combo movies. Too bad and too sad he didn't make such movies anymore. Once many dragon ball fans hoped he direct the DBZ movie.
Journey to the West was directed by stephen chow and it is EXCELLENT. However a lot of jokes don't translate well (eg you think you're freshly peeled radish skin?! YOU THINK I'M VEGETARIAN!? It's hard to explain why that is such a harsh burn)
Mui the love interest mostly seems to speak Mandarin in this. This is interesting because the rest of the cast speaks Cantonese. The two languages are mutually intelligible, but they make no reference to it. Danny Chan the one that comes off like Bruce lee, was the leader of the ax gang in Kung Fu Hustle. He also typically does portray Bruce Lee in film. In the last like 15 years he played Bruce Lee maybe five times. He also played Bruce Lee in one of the Ip Man movies
This is originally HongKong movie, so they speaks Cantonese. But the girl character are wanderer from outside HongKong (it should refer to China mainland) same as the Shaolin's brother came from. So its like Chow meet his hometown acquaintance then they speaks their Mandarin language.
Should definitely do: God of Gamblers Fight Back to School Tricky Brains Love on Delivery From Beijing with Love The God of Cookery So many classics! Stephen Chow is a legend in the Hong Kong industry when it comes to Silly Comedy movies in the late 80s, 90s. No other movies like his 😂🙏💯
The harmony of elements in the movie is really well kept, a lot of Hong Kong movies have that balancing feeling, from my experiences in watching them from my childhood till now. I love Chow when he acts in gambling theme movie.
Actually in the Asia regions, Shaolin Soccer was much well known than Kung Fu Hustle, everywhere, people will be like singing the silly song they perform in the night club. Stephen Chow is like the comedy king in Asia, 10 out of 9 people would say their favourite comedian growing up watching will be him. Although his older movies, which not directed by him, will be harder to understand to foreigners as the jokes usually will just lost in translation. I'd recommend try out All's Well, Ends Well (1992), this is one of his best earlier movies with bunch of crazy talented comedians, which the movie still stand as an all time classic even till now.
I personally like Stephen Chow's earlier works, those in 80s and 90s. Not sure if you can find them but if you do, you should check them out. A Chinese Odyssey, which are two part movies, are one of my top recommendation. I am from Hong Kong btw.
these movies are such classics! i dont know what steven chow is doing lately, but he should totaly either direct the new last airbender or and mcu movie like the next chang shi or something... we need a stevenchownissance

For some reason I used to cringe at Kung Fu Hustle but I just so LOVED Shaolin Soccer. It’s so iconic. This movie along is what got me hooked on Japanese and Chinese animes, shows and kung fu style in general. For quite a long time I had a crush on goal keeper cause he looked like Bruce Lee.
In Kung Fu or martial arts whatever it's called, Yin Yang is the art of deflection and/or dissipation of kinetic force which made her the perfect goal keeper. The same skills she used when making steam buns and also demonstrated very well when her mean boss tried to hit her but couldn't 🙂
I just watched the MLS Cup final between LA and Philly - it was a 3-3 thriller that went to penalties. One of Philly's penalties was exactly like the one seen on 2:00 - blazed way over the bar ... proving just how realistic this movie is
Funny thing is that in Hong Kong, KUNG FU HUSTLE is actually not that popular or iconic compared to other Stephen Chow's movies. A lot of his movies are iconic here, we can recall lines from them. Kung Fu Hustle is not one of them. It is popular, just no way near as popular as his other movies.
Kung Fu Hustle's cinematography is more polished compared to Shaolin Soccer. But Shaolin Soccer's story, characters, theme, lessons, comedy, stakes, etc. are much more superior than Kung Fu Hustle's
If ya'll gonna watch another Stephen Chow movie, I highly recommend "God of Cookery"! Some days, I will just remember a random scene from that movie and involuntarily chuckle to myself, and not be able to explain to the other people in the conference room wtf i find so funny about Janet's powerpoint or whatever.
From 90's to 00's, that was the best moment of Hong Kong Movie. Stephen Chow is definitely one of the symbol for the Hong Kong movies in that period. There are many factors for his success, which can't happen any more in Hong Kong now... ShaolinSoccer and Kung Fu hustle are very "mature" movies from Stephen Chow for the whole world. If you guys are interested in how Stephen Chow had stepped up in his career, you should watch his movies in 90's, more primitive, no CGI, well but maybe quite localized ... "From Beijing with love" can be the starting point, which is my favorite.
Can I ask where you watched the movie? I can only find the international cut of this movie. The version you watched looks like the directors cut version or hk version of the movie.
I remember watching this one years ago and It was so good reminded me of the anime Captain Tsubasa “ (“los súper Campeones” in Mexico) both great ones. Thank you for the video 🎉❤
I like MR.Chow movies because they are not just comedy movies, they have certain messages, he has Kung Fu disappearing into modern society, and a message that he doesn't want to forget the culture
Everyone recommended God of Cookery already so I will recommended Fight Back To School, the movie talk about undercover cops and its also have 2 sequel which are hilarious too ^^ I'm really glad that people are more aware of genius Stephen Chow now, he has been a hugee star in Asia and we all fell in love with his movie ❤️❤️
14:50/15:00 - The cat casually strolling on by behind you, minding its own business, and probably thinking people are crazy. 😹 15:05 - Wanting to get in on the action. 😸 + 26:15 I don't know who the goalie is, but he's literally a spitting image of Bruce Lee! 😄
31:00 Oh god i forgot when she emulated Neo lol. The movie is pretty much a tribute/parody of the japanese manganime Captain Tsubasa and if you wayched that anime as a kid this movie becomes even more special. If Stephen would have directed the Dragon Ball movie probably the result would have been quite different.
I recommend: God of Cookery, Love on Delivery, From Beijing with Love, and Forbidden City Cop. Those are his older movies but have similar vibes with Shaolin Soccer
Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle are still to this day one of the funniest and awesome movies ever. Shaolin Soccer was the first Stephen Chow film I saw so in my opinion I consider it slightly better than Kung Fu Hustle. Two timeless classics. Gives off anime vibes with the fight scenes which has always been badass.
More Stephen Chow movies please 😊 Hilarious reaction. Thanks 😊 Did you know all the movies of Stephen Chow, he is the director as well. Such a genuine humour

So fun to see you guys react the same way I did, and still do, whenever I watch this.
One of my all time favorite Movies!
14:50/15:00 - The cat casually strolling on by behind you, minding its own business, and probably thinking people are crazy. 😹
15:05 - Wanting to get in on the action. 😸 + 26:15
I don't know who the goalie is, but he's literally a spitting image of Bruce Lee!
The ml Stephen Chow itself is a director of the movie 🔥✨
Now just need to do God of Cookery! (My favorite Stphen Chow movie)
28:40 The Puma sponser guy is a real life Puma shop owner. Even the ppl was a masterpiece in this movie.
Finally, Shaolin soccer Fuiyooooh... 🔥🔥🔥
that's what they did 21 years ago. just think how amazing it could be with today's technology . Just awesome
I recommend: God of Cookery, Love on Delivery, From Beijing with Love, and Forbidden City Cop. Those are his older movies but have similar vibes with Shaolin Soccer
This movie reminds me of Captain Tsubasa.
No joke I love anime soccer :D
No matter what my childhood grow watching this movie.😊
我是一個台灣人
從小看少年足球電視重播至少30次以上
我怎麼不記得阿梅有跟老闆娘對打這段
是台灣電視版剪掉嗎
You could only get 20% of the jokes because of languages but you could try another Chow’s movie “Kung Fu”. It is also so much fun
Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle are still to this day one of the funniest and awesome movies ever. Shaolin Soccer was the first Stephen Chow film I saw so in my opinion I consider it slightly better than Kung Fu Hustle. Two timeless classics. Gives off anime vibes with the fight scenes which has always been badass.
that goal keeper is the same actor who play bruce lee in IP MAN 4
More Stephen Chow movies please 😊
Hilarious reaction. Thanks 😊
Did you know all the movies of Stephen Chow, he is the director as well. Such a genuine humour
This was like my childhood movie every single Chinese New Year, its like a tradition to watch this/Stephen Chow every year during Chinese new year
Great watch. I love Stephen Chow movies!
In asia, Stephen Chow also famous for the movie "fight back to school" It's so famous in the 90's they make 3 of them (2 sekuel).
