YYEEESSS!!!!! I have been waiting for so long for you to react to this film!!!!! It’s been months waiting, but now it’s finally here!!!!! I am so happy for you to chose this action film and I am so proud of Mary!!!! You are the best and I will always support you cause you are very awesome and kind!!! I hope you can keep doing what you love and never give up!!!!! You are spectacular!!!! Big fan of you btw!!!! Keep it up and never give up!!!!!
Now you have to watch Dredd with Karl Urban. Both movies came out the same year and pretty much have the same “make it to the top floor” plot. Both are great.
This film brought the martial art Silat to popularity in the US and put Gareth Evans on the map. The fight choreography in this movie is the best I’ve ever seen. The sequel is even better
17:10 my favorite fight scene moment in all of moviedom. freaking creative, pays off a setup, incredible stunt, very cool effect, and psychotically brutal. 11/10 stars.
This one is a masterpiece martial art action. I met the producer of this film before it came out, he showed me clips from this on his laptop, and I was amazed by the clips. When I saw the movie a year or two later, I forgot about the meeting with him and then remembered the clips and I couldn't believe how good it was. And The Raid 2, is even better :)
The guy who played Mad Dog is a stunt coordinator, and so good he's in the Raid 2 as a different character. He, and the guy who plays Rama are fleetingly in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, together with the guy from the kitchen scene in The Raid 2. (easily the best fight scene I've seen, it's scarily brutal)
Um no the actor who play mad dog is once a elite soldier protecting the president I forgot his name so yeah he not a stunt coordinator all of them especially the people are athletes
Doing the fighting scenes they made sure they made contact with each other in every hit, but these guys have immaculate control so they not hurting each other.
The Raid movies have some of the best choreography in any action film, fast, complex fight scenes and some gory deaths! Defo watch the 2nd one for move.... fun lol
Love The Raid! The minute I finished it I knew it was one of my all-time favorites.I also think it's interesting that the action starts with guns. In most movies that feels like it'd be the escalation, but this one has so much to ffer in the martial arts/choreography department that it's much more fitting. The 2nd Raid film is also highly recommended! It might even be better!
So this was directed by a Welshman. Gareth Evans married an Indonesian, and realised there was not much work in Wales, so they moved to Indonesia where he made some of the most ballistic action (and a short horror V/H/S/ 2 which is BONKERS) before returning to make the Netflix series Apostle. The Raid 2 is The Godfather of action movies. The martial art is called pencak silat - the art of violently striking with elbows and knees.
Oh wow, this is a pleasant surprise. This movie definitely set the bar for me when it comes to fight choreography. I really hadn't seen fight sequences as exciting as this and really made you sweat as you watched. Can't wait to see your reaction.
Like it realy is there Wasson much heart and soul put into this the stunts action fighting everything theas guys gave it 110% and me and my brother liked this one and part 2 😊
17:36 When people headbutt, they're using their relatively sturdy forehead to hit the relatively more vulnerable facial bones. It still hurts, but you're likely to cause more damage than you take.
Very gritty. Thank you for the watch. My son showed this to me. Not really my genre. But, the fighting was very well done. Actually, the set up of the story reminds me a lot of the newer Dredd movie, with Karl Urban as Dredd. Same kind of setup: High rise where pretty much everyone in the building is part of the criminal cartel. Different kind of story, but similar device. At any rate... thank you for the watch. I'll look forward to whatever comes next.
Is really weird, for English countries the movie is called The Reid Redemption, but for everyone else is just The Reid, the sequel, to the rest of the world is called Redemption, and you could see why, but in the English speaking countries is called The Reid 2.
Jaka is also an actor in Fast&Furious 6 and mortal combat (2021), while Rama was an actor in the films Mile 22 and The Expendables 4. And there are more besides what i mentioned above.
Springtime of 2012. Following the buzz and it's debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. This was the next new phenomenon and we wanted more. Very few theaters had it. But the DVD, On demand markets made sure it was available for major viewing. In those days of the 2010s, Guerilla filmmaking at it's finest. Iko Uwais and others physical dynamos involved with this are still the future of action.
What I love about this film is the emphasis on the environment (the tower block itself) as a weapon which is brilliantly thematic. Sure other films have combatants throwing each other at/through walls but this one you can really see the dilberate moves to use walls, ceilings and doors against opponents to devastating effect.
Fantastic action film. There's a shortage of great southeast Asian cinema (though I would direct you to the work of Tony Jaa - Ong-Bak and The Protector - for some Muay Thai). The stunning display of Pencak Silat really shows off an incredibly underrated martial art, especially the showdown between the brothers and Mad Dog (who is just amazing and a beast for his size).
Great reaction as always. The Raid and Raud 2 are some of my favorite movies. For more action like this movie, check out Merantau, Headshot, The Night Comes For Us, Ongbak, The Protector.
The Raid movies have the GREATEST choreography ever! I wish Hollywood would take a page from them, but they just flat out refuse to. Superhero movies alone would be elevated immensely, imagine seeing Batman fighting like this
This is awesome🙂👍im sure you will love the sequel of the Raid movies 1.The Raid 2 Berandal 2.The night comes for us 3.headshot(iko uwais) 4.triple threat (iko uwais and Tony jaa
Omg!!! She does look at the comments, I remember In one of the John wick videos? I recommended this movie ❤❤❤ wowww!! Mary is sucha great youtuber I love her 😌😌😌 awe 🤗 I'm so happy she's watching this, the introductory part nd the conclusion ! wow I'm learning as I'm in my 1st year in college nd seeing the content nd how I can see it is just remarkable! ❤ I've found Mary in covid, 2020 when my gf didn't want to watch starwars with me so I thought "hm there's gotta be reaction of a Goorll watching this" nd sure enough there she is!
If you love Foreign Films then you should defo watch Past Lives & Intouchables. Both really easy to understand and amazing movies. You will love them Cherry!
FYI : RAMA & MAD DOG are truely the Master of indonesian traditional Martial art called "SILAT" including of some Villain in this movie are mastering SILAT too, that why they can do Choreografy so fast because they are trained as well
This movie becomes reference for so many hollywood movie. John wick, captain america winter soldier, the arrow, dare devil and so many others influenced by this movie. It raise the bar so high & become standar of action movie nowadays. Go watch the sequel.. the raid 2: berandal. it's bigger than this.
Gareth Evans said that “The Raid” could be considered a survival horror movie. You could easily switch out gangbangers with zombies and not much would change.
One of the best gun-fu movies of all time, that being said I don't there's enough anyone could pay me to be a stuntman for movies like this. Mad creds to all the people that poured their blood, sweat and tears into the making of it.
I have seen this film too Mary. Those corridor fight scenes are incredible and intense! They put Hollywood to shame. Daredevil: Season One. Has a similar intense corridor fight scene! You will be able to tell how much ‘The Raid’ has had a influenced on it, as well as other movies going forward! 👍. The sequel is definitely worth checking out too, as it only increases the stakes! 😊. Even though they were brothers. I think Andi couldn’t come back. He chose the path of the criminal. Just like Rama chose to serve the law. It better serves him. It is what he knows best! Besides he now hold power in the underworld! 🤔
Waited years for your reaction to this classic Mary - worth it! Definitely one of the best action movies of the modern era - and the sequel is even better! Looking forward to your reaction on that one Mary! More power to the channel & God bless! 👏👏👏💯💯💯🤘🤘🤘
Apparently this was shot during a heatwave and was shot mostly at night to give some relief from the heat to the actors - especially those who were who were all wearing several pounds of Police gear.

Now you have to watch Dredd with Karl Urban. Both movies came out the same year and pretty much have the same “make it to the top floor” plot. Both are great.
Whole heartedly agree with this, Dredd is a sci-fi version of The Raid and its spectacular
Dredd by Karl urban is underrated, but way so much better than Stallone dredd
The Raid (2011)
Dredd (2012)
IIRC, in The Raid they're trying to get to the middle floor.
Dredd is not as good, the film is also not as successful and famous as The Raid 😒
This film brought the martial art Silat to popularity in the US and put Gareth Evans on the map. The fight choreography in this movie is the best I’ve ever seen. The sequel is even better
The Mad Dog actor is the fight choreographer for the movie.
17:10 my favorite fight scene moment in all of moviedom. freaking creative, pays off a setup, incredible stunt, very cool effect, and psychotically brutal. 11/10 stars.
The Hallway scene imo is still the greatest martial arts movie segment in history.
Definitely follow this up with The Raid 2: Berandal.
Raid 1 is a 10/10 action movie
Raid 2 is a 11/10 action movie
The guy who played Mad Dog is a stunt coordinator, and so good he's in the Raid 2 as a different character. @@jimmytuplano3843 IMDb disagrees
Doing the fighting scenes they made sure they made contact with each other in every hit, but these guys have immaculate control so they not hurting each other.
Oh no they definitely hurt eachother, especially in the final fight.
@@Jo_youwhatmate “to an extent”, yeah.
The Martial Arts they used is one of the many Southeast Asian Fighting Arts called Silat
💪💪💪
One of the most underrated movies, along with Raid 2!!! These are incredibly good!!!❤
I'm from Indonesia and it's not underrated, many people will said the raid is top 5 in hand of hand combat
The Raid movies have some of the best choreography in any action film, fast, complex fight scenes and some gory deaths! Defo watch the 2nd one for move.... fun lol

Oooh heck yeah!!! You finally watched the Raid such an OG film and this channel is such a W
Mary: “They love smashing people against walls.”
Me: 🤔…😏…hmm, Mary.
“Mad Dog” is top 5 best fighters on screen imo.
You'll love The Raid 2, picks up right after Redemption
You could actually see what was happening in the action scenes, great camera work!
The Raid Movies are my fav fight movies of all time!
I’d also recommend Headshot, same actor Iko Uwais, it was a fun movie
I was rooting for Mad Dog in the final fight. His fighting style won me over in that scene.
I'm glad Mary liked the music it was made by Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park and his score was incredible.
There's another Asian martial arts movie called "the protector" it takes place in Australia 🇦🇺
Yayan Ruhian, who plays 'Mad Dog', is the fight choreographer for the movie.
Oh wow, this is a pleasant surprise. This movie definitely set the bar for me when it comes to fight choreography. I really hadn't seen fight sequences as exciting as this and really made you sweat as you watched. Can't wait to see your reaction.
NO WAY you watched another one of my favs!!!!! One I'd never though you'd watch. ✊
Easily one of the best action films of ALL-TIME.
Like it realy is there Wasson much heart and soul put into this the stunts action fighting everything theas guys gave it 110% and me and my brother liked this one and part 2 😊

Mary: "Hey! At least you get to go home to your wife now!"
Me: "... not quite."
Joe Taslim in this movie plays Sub Zero/ Bi Han in the new Mortal Kombat.
And warrior
@tfola3586 Crazy part is he does his own stunts and is an accomplishment Judo Practitioner.
Is really weird, for English countries the movie is called The Reid Redemption, but for everyone else is just The Reid, the sequel, to the rest of the world is called Redemption, and you could see why, but in the English speaking countries is called The Reid 2.
*Raid
Iam Indonesian, i loved when people make reaction for the raid🔥🔥
Jaka is also an actor in Fast&Furious 6 and mortal combat (2021), while Rama was an actor in the films Mile 22 and The Expendables 4. And there are more besides what i mentioned above.
If you think the stunts and action sequences in this movies are jaw dropping, wait til you see The Raid 2.
Great reaction! The Raid 2 is even better!
It's one of my favorite movies. I'm a huge martial arts fan. The action was pretty intense the first time I saw this one.
Springtime of 2012.
Following the buzz and it's debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.
This was the next new phenomenon and we wanted more.

In those days of the 2010s, Guerilla filmmaking at it's finest.

The photography of this movie is horrifyingly lit ... It looks so real that its horrifying to watch
What I love about this film is the emphasis on the environment (the tower block itself) as a weapon which is brilliantly thematic.

Yes, someone who appreciates foreign movies and subtitles.
Yo chick, you brave. You watching The Raid Redemption. Oh you getting into some good stuff.
Lol what is the name of the clip you used when talking about changing clothes? The guy pulls off a mustache to reveal his mustache underneath.
Gareth Evans said that “The Raid” could be considered a survival horror movie. You could easily switch out gangbangers with zombies and not much would change.
"I would have gone with my bro" lol you sure about that
If you want to see fast you should check out Bruce Lee in "Enter the Dragon" (1973).
RAID 2!!!! PICKS UP RIGHT WHERE THIS LEFT OFF... ABSOLUTELY SUPERIOR TO THE 1ST!!! 👏🤯
One of the best gun-fu movies of all time, that being said I don't there's enough anyone could pay me to be a stuntman for movies like this. Mad creds to all the people that poured their blood, sweat and tears into the making of it.

22:23; that guy is in the John Wick 2, fighting john wick on the glass building
I watch The Raid, Dredd and Ghost in the Shell (live-action film) as a triple feature. I feel like there's some connection in theme between them.
Such an awesome movie! I saw this in theaters when it came out, because I heard that Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park worked on the soundtrack.
Waited years for your reaction to this classic Mary - worth it! Definitely one of the best action movies of the modern era - and the sequel is even better! Looking forward to your reaction on that one Mary! More power to the channel & God bless! 👏👏👏💯💯💯🤘🤘🤘
