The Night Come For Us lebih ke NGGAK MUTU karena LEBAY.
Kayak bukan manusia. Kalau di kldalam kenyataan orang mengalami kayak begitu pastiudah nggak bisa jalan apalagi berkelahi. Itulah jeleknya The Night Come For Us. Film realis tetapi tidak masuk akal.
Kalau itu jenis film surealis kayak misalnya Spiderman, Superman itu bisa diterima, tapi itu film realis yang tolok ukurnya adalah kehidupan nyata.

If you guys haven't already found out, the martial art in these films is a variation of silat. Iko Uwais (Rama) and Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) did the fight choreography together, and Ruhian had also had a history as a fight trainer for the Indonesian Police. True badasses!

Kinda why the film is so brutal, because of all the traditional martial arts I'm aware of, Silat is among the most dirty and violent.

This is a relatively unknown film in the US, partly because american audiences generally don't like to watch foreign movies with subtitles. That's why even a lot of film and action fans like you haven't heard of it. But it's actually really influential. This came out in 2011 and if you watch action films before that, there's a trend for shaky, close up camera shots and many quick cuts, influenced by the Bourne films and Taken. After The Raid 1&2 came out, there's a noticeable shift in the way action is shot, with a lot less cuts, wider angles and a desire to show more of the stuntwork and more of what's actually happening. The John Wick series is an example. John Wick director Chad Strahelski said that he's a big fan of the The Raid guys' work and it's no coincidence that two of the final bosses of Wick 3 are Yayan Ruhian, who plays Mad Dog in The Raid 1 and Prakoso in The Raid 2, as well as Cecep Arif Rahman, who's basically the final boss of The Raid 2.
It may not be known by as many people as it deserves to be, but certainly everyone got to feel their influence.

The hallway fights in Daredevil were inspired by the hallway fights in this movie, the top down combo shot in Shang Chi was inspired by the one from this movie, the knife fights and flexible weapons in John Wick Chapter 3 were inspired by the fights here. Incredibly influential action film that not a lot of people have even heard of.
You may recognize the two bodyguards as the guys who let John Wick live at the end of the third movie because they were fans, who he then let live in return after he bodyslammed them through glass floor. That's probably why they looked familiar to Answer. If I'm not mistaken Cecep actually trained Keanu Reevs for those knife fights and is one of the highest ranked martial artists in Silat. Another actor you may recognize is Joe Taslim was Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat, and in a phenomenal cinemax kung-fu show you should check out called Warrior.

And it shows, the cinematography in the 2nd film sets the bar for action films to another level as well. Really cool to hear that you had a fairly extensive martial arts background growing up. I was also into Taekwondo in my teens but didn't have the drive to go for too long.

And now you get to do "The Raid 2." That was the movie Gareth Evans wanted to make, but couldn't get the backing, so he made "The Raid:Redmption" as a kind of proof of concept for the second movie. IMO, it is the rare sequel that outdoes the original.

You guys badly need to check out Warrior (TV show) if you liked this!
It’s basically a show about Chinese tongs in 19th century San Francisco based on Bruce Lee’s original treatment for what became the TV show Kung-Fu. Joe Taslim (Jaka in The Raid) is one of the key antagonists, Andy Koji from Bullet Train is the lead, and it’s produced by Shannon Lee, Bruce’s daughter, and Justin Lin, who directed most of the good Fast & Furious movies.
The show is just wild, with tons of action, and really stellar acting.

I genuinely can't believe you gents haven't seen this movie and its sequel! Without trying to colour your opinions, both those movies were probably the best martial arts movies of their entire decade.
Ah so the three stars of this movie went on to have pretty decent careers in action. Joe Taslim will be seen this year in Mortal Kombat 2. He's subzero and was clearly the best part of the movie (Ok, the best part of the movie was definitely Josh Lawson's Kano, he was absolutely hilarious).
Iko Uwais is always really impressive in whatever he's in though he's often the only shining light of an otherwise terrible movie. I'm hoping that changes though!
Anyway, can't wait to for y'all to watch the sequel. If you want recommendations after that, Ong Bak. Ong Bak stars Tony Jaa and that man is unbelieveable. I think there's a movie called Triple Threat which also stars Iko but I haven't watched that yet.

    Fun facts:
The raid was choreographed by the lead antagonist and the lead protagonist, Yayan and Iko. Both are actual pencak silat champions, the martial art showcased in the movie, its like muy thai with knives.
The crazy eyes machete gang leader is a bare knuckle boxing champion.
None of the guns had blanks. They were all modified airsoft models, muzzle flash was added in post, recoil was acted by the crew.
It was written in English by Gareth Edwards, the Welsh director, and then translated into Indonesian.

THIS movie is lethal. No dramatic posing...no air grabbin' symbolism. Just...kickass ACTION! You would think that the human body would just stop functioning after so many bone crushing blows. Stamina must be off the charts...talk about super soldier serum. If Captain America fought like this...DAY am! Must admit.. ALL these players are artists...pure mayhem and great visuals. The action sells the impact and the knife skills. Bravo! Refreshing to see you lads get schooled on the International offerings for action. Raid 2 is just as dynamic.

I'm indonesian and the translation is correct though one small mistake which I think makes the meaning of the english sub more timid. He said, "And what would it mean to you..." but I think the better translation would be, "And I want to see his face...". And then he says, "...if you were to die in front of him." but I think a better translation on what he said is, "...if I were to saw/slit your throat in front of him.". Makes him even more menacing imo.

As I’m sure has already been said many times over: Dredd (2012) is the “western remake” in many ways, and for more hallway fights see “Oldboy” (either one), which in turn inspired scenes in “Repo” and the show “Daredevil”, not to mention “Snowpiercer” (tho a train is sort of just one big a hallway so unavoidable parallels). Think that sums it up

The reason why the choreography is awesome is because Jaka (the MC) and Mad Dog are actually silat practitioner in real life. Iko Uwais aka Jaka is actually silat practitioner and silat champion. Weirdly enough, he was a truck driver before being recruited as actor by gareth evans,.Yayan Ruhian aka Mad Dog, was a silat practitioner and used to be instructor for Paspamres (President's bodyguard unit), so you know he is the real deal.

This one is put together better, I feel, than the second film, but the second film has my favorite ending fight scene, so I can't wait for you guys to get to that one too. This film emphasizes silat martial arts movements. The principle of fighting is to exploit the opponent's weak points quickly with the aim of paralyzing the opponent until he is helpless. All the techniques he has only have one goal, namely to survive and kill the opponent. The martial art of silat is more than effective and deadly and even seems cruel. that's why professional MMA fighting bans it. although its professional use is only among the Indonesian military for close combat situations. sometimes it looks beautiful in art shows. everyone knows that films are just dramatic images
